This is very interesting. I hope that Mr. Steve copied his letter to the owner of Nigeriaworld. I am certain that Nigeriaworld will be joined in any lawsuit that results. The owner of Nigeriaworld must also be warned not to destroy the archives and all the evidence therein against Mr. Steve.

Why is "Big Steve," a pen name, complaining about the use of pen names by others? Did "Big Steve," pen name, not attack and malign others at Nigeriaworld? When "Big Steve," pen name, was taking on and attacking people of evident substance, such as Damian, did "Big Steve," pen name, think that those he attacked would just fizzle out simply because the owner of Nigeriaworld banned them? Is that a reasonable expectation?

Mr. Steve is Igbo. Therefore, he should know that you only push Igbos so far before they respond. If you push Igbos far enough, they will go to war. "Big Steve" and "Steve Nwabuzor" authorized the public release of the name "Steve Nwabuzor" as the identity of "Big Steve." Therefore, the two names are interchangeable for the purposes of debates at BiafraNigeriaWorld and NigeriaWorld or any other fora in which members of those two boards choose to participate.

BiafraNigeriaWorld and Nigeriaworld both allow the use of pen names. Those who voluntarily surrender the protections afforded by the anonymity of pen names should be prepared to accept that their real/pen names may be used interchangeably. I suppose that in the initial excitement of the Atlanta conference, some people started to reveal all sorts of personal things about themselves on the pages of the Nigeriaworld message board. Those revelations have turned out to be ill-advised.

I reserve my comments about those who trusted "Big Steve" and gave him their personal information.

Brother COLO:
Thanks for the honorable mention. However, credit for those wonderful words belongs to our erudite and eloquent brother, Keshi, whom I was proudly quoting in another thread.

The Steve Nwabuzor, Ojo Maduekwe, and Osita Chuba "Ibos" should know that for every one of them, there are 100 keshis, Benbellas, and Nzeogwus from Anioma and across the Niger. Igbos will never be divided. No amount of provincial and parochial selfish divisionism by the disgruntled and discredited Chubas and Big Steve's of Nigeriaworld will change that.

Brodas,

This prolific and grotesque invective on the person of Big Steve has indeed taken another dimension. It is quite unfortunate that these petty attacks are coming from men I thought to be reasonable, educated and focused. It seems that this board was formed with the objective to malign and slander people who did not agree with some people on Nigeriaworld.com.

I had my disagreemnet with Big Steve the time when a group of people were banned from Nigeriaworld.com. I used some unkind words on Big Steve and he exhibited maturity typical of a well groomed man by dropping a particular demand he made on the boardmaster. The encounter did not stop me from according a measure of respect to a stranger I have never met. It is absurd that some people here have taken on an attitude mimical of high school kids. I do not see the reason why some observers would like to join this board knowing for a fact, like in every other human endeavours disagreement abounds they would be torn apart as Big Steve is been done. This childish antecedent got to stop. A word is enough for the wise.

As much as I agree with what you are saying, However I have to point out that Big Steve opened this can of warm. He doesn't want to stay arround to fight the warm he opened. people have to understand that this forum was created for opinions and views. Many members of this forum are people who believe in telling the truth and let chip fall where they may. many people in this Biafra world were people who were banned at the other place for, their outspokeness do any of you think that this people all of sudden will find political correctness Nigeria style I don't think so.

So when somebody open a can of warm in this forum they better be ready to back it up and defend themselves. if you attack in this forum better be ready to be attacked, Like I keep maintaining this forum is not for sissys.

Ndigbo,
I hope you've heard and understood the wise words from Obigbo and Biafra.
They've summed it all up for you.

However, if you are the defense lawyer that Steve copied his shakara saber rattling letter to, you are doing a poor job representing him. On the other hand, if you're his (self appointed) propaganda assistant, I assure you that you will be frustrated here. There's no room for such fake hero worship here.
We don't take kindly to ANTI-Igbo, yet Igbo respect/recognition-seeking sycophants.

Having sat on the sidelines on this Big Steve Issue/non Issue thing for long I feel it is about time I contributed my tuppence worth.
I do not know Big Steve personally. I have read a lot of his post on Nigeria world, much as I do not agree with all of his views, I respected him as well as his rights to hold those views. I did not have the Priviledge of being banned from Nigeriaworld forum (Priledge because those banned were Titans), either at his instigation or non instigation. Having said this, I cannot call those who feel that Big Steve did this to them Liars, as some contributors tried to imply earlier, neither can I say Big steve is Guilty of these allegations. Only the people making the allegations, Big Steve and the the Administrator of that board can say that for certain. I must however add that their is an Igbo saying that when a child cries and continuosly point at a crowd, if you look closely you will see either his father or his mother.
When I read his letter threatening legal action, I was sad that one of the people I respected has been reduced to this type of action. I cannot say that I know how hurt he was, but I am a believer that the stature of ones adversaries defines ones stature, I think may be it is time to let go. I write this from the perspective of an outsider.
Are we diminishing our stature by still chasing some one who has been reduced to threatening legal action?

Could it be possible that me were mistaking?

Could it be that we are now digressing and raising individuals to the platform they do not deserve?

Could it be that we are being insensitive to people who feel wronged on Nigeriaworld?
These questions are the questions that I think that we need to answer.
I have suggested that it is time to let go, this is just a suggestion and as as I said earlier,I cannot claim to feel the pain of any of the parties.
On another note, I cannot help but observe that some contributors are bent on bashing us for views held by Forumites. Views held here and the attempts to bash us are all integral parts of a Civilisedv society , The Freedom of speech, As they bash us they are at the same time praising us for the lack of censorship whic exist on this board.

Suprize suprize suprize. Breaking up is hard to do. History has showned that when companies are split it is always for good and in most cases as result of business disagreement. The break up of ATT, software gaints like Microsoft and Mincintosh and Apple computer have all gone to become successful companies. Why not BiafraNigeriaWorld?

Why is NigeriaWorld such a cry baby? Oh well I noticed that their message board is practically not that lively. I have watched this link BiafraNigeriaWorld grow every minutes with new members including Unlce Sam.

Advice don't let the link name full you. This link BiafraNigeriaWorld stands for free speech and against censorship even tripple X opinions only if you can take the heat.

You may call me a reject, an outcast, evicted by NigeiaWorld for expressing myself, the most important thing is that I have found a home among the braves. Where my lip is not deleted but endlessly active with exclamation point.

Hail Biafra

"It seems that this board was formed with the objective to malign and slander people who did not agree with some people on Nigeriaworld.com." --- Ndigbo

Ndigbo:
This board was formed so that people like you can make a stupid comment like that and get away with it. Cut and paste your stupid comment on Nigeriaworld and see if the owner of that board will not delete both you and your post. For some selfish reason, you and the other person, Chuba, have been fueling the Big Steve issue. Do you have a hidden interest in the outcome of this dispute? If you do not wish to be here, feel free to leave. If you remain abusive, prepare to reap what you sow. We on this board do not look at faces. You and Chuba are the ones fueling the Big Steve issue.

All,
I have stayed out of this debate since Mr. Big Steve sent his threat letter through COLO because I wanted to digress and digest why on earth a man of Dr. Steve Nwabuzor's status both academically and otherwise would decide to bring himself into rudicle.
Like Roland Reagan said "I am not here to be loved but to be respected", I would also add that I am here to give respect to whom and when it is due and to withdraw same if and when necessary.
If all the advice and reconcillatary overtures I and some well-meaning members of this board made did not move Steve to soft-pedal, then we must be prepared for the worst; Since Mr. Steve has opted for confrontation instead of dialogue, we members (especially the Igbos amongst us) have no option that to say to Big Steve and others like him that we members of this board are willing and ready for any action they decide to take against this all-inclusive and uncensored board now or in the future. To this end, I am hereby promising the owners of this board that I will foot part of the legal bills should that become necessary. Please Webmaster, do contact me whenever that becomes necessary.

On a final note, I am once more reminding Mr. Steve Nwabuzor and his advicers, in this case ill-advicers that if they pull this issue between Mr. Steve and his fellow Igbos beyond the stage it has reached so far, that their action(s) will be interpreted by most Igbos as an afront not only against the Igbos on this board but as a challenge to other Igbos in the Diaspora and at home. I only hope Dr. Nwabuzor realise this before it is too late. A word for the wise is enough.

Guys, I was fortunate to have walked with Chief Sam Mbakwe when heTalked the Talkdays before the june 12 election. You might recollect that Abiola made a comment during an SDP meeting in Kano when he said that he did not need the Igbos to become president, the Igbos at that meeting walked out. The SDP bigwigs sent OO to come and apologise to those present at the meeting.
Chief Mbakwe took it upon himself to ensure that Abiola got the desired 25% of votes cast in Imo state. He came to Aba to campaign, the question that they kept asking him was Can the yorubas be trusted?.
I remember that he never really gave an answer to this question, rather he kept emphasizing on the attrocities against the Igbos by the North.
Those who feel that we should not discuss this topic, I must state are ignorant of the thinking amongst the Igboman in the street. For any accord to work, the people in the streets of Igboland have to be conviced that the answer is in the affirmative. So please attempt to convice those of us here. The Igbos are unlike any other Tribe in Nigeria, in that we are Republican and do not have permernent leaders. If an Igboman reflects our view ,we elevate him to a leader, but if he goes against the common view, we drop him faster than you can say hot potato.
I had this argument with a yoruba friend once, one of the reasons I gave was the fact that while Awo was in Enugu negotiating with Zik, Akintola was in Kaduna negotiating with Sarduana. He did not feel offended, he offered an explanation for this action, which, after some research I had to accept.
What he told me was that Akintolas main Political Ideology was anti-Ijebu and anti-Igbo.
When Biafra started this thread , what we expected was for people who thought that the answer was in the affirmative to bring forward similiar excuse.Unfortunately what we got were people who wanted to stiffle the debate.

My respect for this forum grew after I read the post by COLO containing the threat by gMr. Steve.h It is a mark of distinction that this young message board even allows threats of lawsuits against it to be posted in its own forum. This board really means business when it says it stands for the free expression of ideas. Even attacks against the board itself by "Chuba" and "Ndigbo" are posted here, un-edited. I challenge anyone to test what has just happened here by posting a similar lawsuit threat at the old Nigeriaworld. Make a post at Nigeriaworld in which you threaten to sue Chuck Odili or Naijanet and see what happens. Mr. Steve must know something about the determination of this board to stand behind its free speech principles. Otherwise, Mr. Steve would not have assumed that his lousy threat would be published here.

Nwa Aro, I commend you, and I join you. I am an attorney, and I hereby pledge my services and funds to help defend BiafraNigeriaWorld against any lawsuit by anyone resulting from this boardfs principled stand in favor of free speech. I have sent a letter to that effect to the webmaster of BiafraNigeriaWorld. I do not know who owns this board. But, I intend to find out. For too long, Igbos were not taken seriously when they complained. Some people have decided to take action. The least I can do is to stand up and be counted.

After reading through all the posts, I see nothing here that is actionable under law. After Mr. Stevefs lawyer is done taking money from him for NOTHING, Mr. Steve will realize that too. I cannot wait to have a belly full of laugh in court over this silly matter. Moreover, Steve's hands are too dirty from the old Nigeriaworld for him to even be able to make a case for himself.

Wacko:
Thank you for redirecting the debate. The Steve digression is a waste of time. I think we should re-focus on the topic, especially now that Efulefu and Ndigbo (what a misnomer) seem to have taken their confusion-ism back to Nigeriaworld, where they belong.

Adaeze my sister, you spoke well.
The Igbos say that if an elder prostrate himself like a millipede, he will be treated as one. Such is the case with Steve.

Like other self-hating misnomers, he likes to forcefully seek for relevance and recognition that he has not earned (among Igbos on this board).
He has to snap out of it and get used to hearing/reading things that he doesn't like.
Respect is EARNED not SQUEEZED out of people.

Igbos may have internal problems. We often also air it in public. All ethnic groups in Nigeria have that. How does that eliminate the problem of mistrust between Igbos and Yorubas, and between the Yorubas and the East as a whole? You should know that in spite of the disagreements amongst Igbos, and between Igbos and the minorities in the East, we often manage to reach a majority position on important issues. Biafra was one such position. Now, resource control is another. Do you mind articulating why the East should embark on any political alliance with the Yoruba West? That is why this thread was started.

When we realize that we have "sell outs" in our midst, we publicly identify them and proceed to deal with them.
You have never developed such spine to do so. Your inherent inward-looking attitude does not allow you to see the evil man(men) that your Obasanjo, et al is/are.

Must you really advise the Igbos when your starry eyed blindness allowed you to overlook the snake swallow snake, free for all, end justify the means stench suffocating you in your enclave?

I Use to respect you a great deal, even though you and I have always been on opposing side of issues. But to resort to cheaping name calling because people disagree with you, my brother that is reprehensible and beyond the pale. Adaeze only pointed out how accomodating this board is, Do you honestly think that Nigeriaworld will allow a threat of law suit message posted on its board.? Not in million years will that board be that accomodating.

I will not like to get into tit for tat with you over what you are doing, But my brother you can not be defending Mr Big Steve on one hand and then attacking other people on the other hand,. I truely understand that you are still an unbanned member of Nigeria world and you will like to keep your posting privileges there. But do you have to mortgage your integrity in order to retain your censored priviledges at Nigeriaworld. yes granted many of us here like yours truely were banned over there because of our outspokenness. Peronally before chuck odili banned me (Biafra) he sent me a warning email for me to tone down my pro Biafra and Igbo stands. I replied and told him that as long as there continued to be attack on Igbos I will respoond. These was during the time Toks Ok called for eliminating Nzeribe for calling for Obasanjo impeachment. So my brother what I am getting at is that a man without principal will settle for anything. Don't destroy your integrity to keep your Nigeria world censored priviledges.

Adeeze my sister don't join that name calling your post speak for it self. Count me in also if there is a law suit I will contribute to the Biafra world legal defence fund. Who is scared of going to court I am not a lawyer but I am not scared of going to court. Our Igbos said " Ihe Isi akpu kpa na eji eri obu nmanu ekete eke.

I am not a lawyer either. But, I will contribute anyway necessary to fight the enemies of progress who have not been able to hide their bile for their fellow Igbos. I am not one of the people that started this board. But now that I am here, they have my support. I am happy that the young people behind this project are wise to the crimes of the ageing breed of cowards who are busy seeking to scavenge one last time on the rotten corpse called Nigeria. This time, they will not be allowed to do so on the backs of the suffering Igbo people.

Olu, welcome aboard. I would have liked to disagree with your post ,but try as I may, all the evidence tends to support your statement about sell outs .
Please, I would suggest that if people want to continue the debate on Big steve could they start a thread on the Say it anyway, or the Laugh it off section, as most post presently fall in those two categories.
