It is my opinion after visiting Nigeria late last year, I came to the conclusion that Nigeria is heading for a split. This time it would be successful and would not be initiated by the Igbos. However, i came to the conclusion that the Igbos would lose out if they do not prepare for it. I am not advocating fighting against the inevitable, what I am advocating is preparing for the inevitable.
Your views are welcome.

Wacko,
There is no question from your point of view regarding Nigeria heading to "Splitville" sooner or later. It is obvious that the nation called "Nigeria" has never been a one country and ironically, we seemed to have deceived ourselves all along hoping the country would come to terms with reality.

Ednut,
Watch and wait for 2003. How does OO go?. Are his backers prepared for another term?.
Do they get him out legally or ilegally?. Are the Niger Delta people prepared to continue with the status quo?

Wacko and Ambrose

I have to agree with both of you more so with Brother wacko. Nigeria is heading to splittville and like brother wacko said Igbos are the least prepared of all major ethnic groups. The time is also running out on Igbos continuous seating on the fence. Unless Igbos join Chief Ralph and MASSOB right now and start maping out strategy for eventual Nigeria demise we would be caught napping while Nigeria is been looted by other ethnic group.

This is why most of this socalled Igbo politician have to define to us their stand on the actualization of Biafra before we can support them. A litmus test if you will to acertain their Biafra and Igbo identity. We should no longer support sabotaurs who are Igbos in name only, those days are long gone. Now is if you want Igbo support you have to state it and make your position clear on issues important to Igbos.

Wacko,

What will the NDelta people do, Go to war or kidnap a few more oil workers? Or try to SIP the gas with jerry cans? I'd say the last two options are more like it. OO or no OO, nigeria will go on. He is not that important for the survival of nigeria as a nation. Come 2003, we might not even have a need for an election in nigeria and I am not calling for a coup but that is always a posibility as nigerian history has proven.

Ednut,
Your last post shows the reason why we are heading for 'splitville'. It is only a tree that if you tell that it is going to be cut down, does nothing. I am a bit amazed about your comment 'what will the people of Niger Delta do?'. I hope you did not mean it in the context that I understand It, lest you be accused of insensitivity towards the suffering of the people of the Delta.
Are they still suffering because all the can do is kidnap a few oil men or syphon oil from a few jerry cans. People are being pushed against the walls and whenever that is done you cannot control the consequences. Do you really think that the powers that be in Nigeria really care about the unity of the Nation?. The issue is Oil Money. Every election has always based on who is going to rob the oil producing areas of their Wealth(Curse).
If the powers be have the interest of the Nation they would have acceded to resource control, freeing the North to concentrate on Agriculture (The North and the Middle belt can feed the rest of Africa if they Faced It), the East on Technology And the Yoruba on cocoa Etc. Or Better still they would have dissolved the (Non)union.

If I was a betting man I will take you up on it. yes Oil may be what is holding Nigeria togather right now. But have you given a thought about oil been depleted, or America and Europe finding alternative energy which might reduce the importance of crude oil. Then you will see that the North and west who are calling for this phony one Nigeria will make 360 degrees. Remember that when cocoa was our cash crop chief Awo flirted with oduduwa republic and hausa flirted with Arewa Republic. So once oil is gone your one Nigeria will lose its appeal.

Ednut will you be willing to fight for one Nigeria, I will not and I think you will not despite your one Nigeria bravado. Once it is time to fight for one Nigeria some of you pro one Nigeria will be no where to be found.

Biafra and Wacko,

Me insensitive, gosh I am an igboman who grew up in the 1970's nigeria and a product of one of the Fed colleges. How on earth can I be insensitive even if I tried. The point I was making is that the so-called NDeltans have not done anything that I know of to better their current situation. kidnapping a few oil company workers will not stop the nigerian government from stealling their oil and poisioning their water and food. They have to do much more than that if they ever want to control their natural resources. I am for them as far as their resources go.

First of all welcome to the board,

Now back to the issues now lets assume your senario comes through Obasanjo is re elected, Which I agree with you that he will rigg his way to selection for a second term. Now if Nigeria past history is sometime to go by which I would take the history than any pundit theory. Nigeria have never successful went through two consecutive civilian Government term in her almost 41 years history.

Now 2003 will be rowdy and there will be violence and that violence may bring khaki boys back. Because there will be too much corruption the masses will start calling for Military to come back. Mind you that there has never been a successful military coup in Nigeria without the backing of the civilians.

Ednut

You accused us of bashing the yorubas because we pointed our how they have betrayed Igbo trust in the past and you chastised us for it. Now you turn arround and made a mockery of what Niger deltans are going through. Yes like Igbos may be Niger Deltan are not united right now, however that may not continue to be the case. And when we said that Nigeria is heading to splittville we didn't say is going to happen by 2003. Just today it was reported in the paper that sharia states said that they are willing to forgo VAT revenue to keep their sharia laws. SO if sharia states are allowed to enact their own laws in a non secular Nation, do you think other state are going to continue to seat idle.

Sharia was the first shot fired for Nigeria demise, However it will not be the last. Let watch and see the fruit of democracy is yet to be realized, once people like Gov Mbadinoju realized that in a democratic society they don't need to kiss a** to get something done. All this will come to pass.

Biafra,
First of all, I must admit your robust and effective appearances since the inception of this board almost three weeks ago.

Now to the issue of Obasanjo's reelection and its aftermath of which you have presumed it will lead to military takeover or chaos, supporting your points with previous experiences in Nigeria's history since independence. That, you are correct, but bear in mind that the military era of dominion is gone. It's either the nation breaks up which seemingly looks scary, or Obasanjo continues with his inept administration. Do not count the Northern ruling elites out yet, because they still have a game plan.

It is very possible they might come with strategies to unsit Obasanjo for neglecting them, knowing for the fact that they put Obasanjo in power. "They made him and they will unmake him," so they say.

Ednut, that statement about the NDeltans is very spiteful. Is it alright for them to be reduced to collecting oil from burst from pipeline with buckets just to feed their children? The Igbos say, ori anu mmadu bur'uzo tuo onwe ya mbo...meaning, if you indulge in eating human flesh, you should pinch yourself first. We the Igbos have not faired much better. I believe we've all acknowledged our collective rape and degradation and will be doing something to bring them to an end shortly.

Bature:
The North put Obasanjo in power and I believe that they will get rid of him come 2003 and install their own in power...possibly with ohaneze kind of IBO as a vice president.
When Obasanjo is pushed out, the Yoruba will agitate more loudly for Oduduwa Republic. The Igbos will unabatedly pursue their Biafra Actualization. Any vigorous efforts to clamp down on Biafra or Oduduwa will burst Nigeria at the seams. This time around, no amount of patch-patch work will mend it.

As for those fence sitting IBO ostriches, they'd be caught unawares in the cross fire in Hausa and Yoruba lands where they like to hide out to enjoy their spoils from selling out the Igbos.

How can you call me spiteful? We both want the NDeltans to come together as one people and fight for the control of their God Given wealth. What is spiteful about that?

Amanda,
Are you saying there is every indication that, come 2003, an Igbo presidency would emerge through the handiwork of the Northern ruling elites? And if so, wouldn't that mean the North is still "remote controlling" Nigeria?

Bature, what I said was that the North will wrestle the presidency with an IBO VICE PRESIDENCY.

An aside is that in order to try to neutralize the onward march for Biafra Actualization, they may, as a last resort, install an obasanjo style IBO as a president but get to control him remotely.
This scenario is likely to backfire as the Biafrans are getting sensitized to the harlotry and bigotry of these selfish contract chasing, anybody/anything goes Hausa/Fulani/Yoruba appointed kind of IBO leaders(?)
We won't be kind to him as the Yoruba has been to their North-appointed Obasanjo.

Amanda,
I am sorry to have misinterpreted you. Ok., an IBO Vice Presidency which evidently would backfire as a result of Igbos probably bored and tired of all the brouhaha in Nigeria's misrule since independence. But come to think about it and a possible subject (candidate) likely to be used in this experiment of scapegoatism, of which it is likely to be a puppet, what would the Igbos make of such a situation? Would the Igbos recognize such figurehead as their leader and worthy of reform?

Those caught in the crossfire of oil exploitation in the NDelta are women/children and old men. They are left desperate and desolate. They also have selfish prostitutes as leaders and traditional rulers who have mortgaged their lives for few crumbs from the foreign oil companies and Nigerian govt. Its a misplacement to blame them.

Rather we should encourage the enlightened among them to educate their grassroots about their real enemies and friends and the steps to take to bring their on going demise to an end.
The fight among them is the machination of their evil leaders and their friendly wolf in sheep clothing called Nigerian govt.

Their best and redeeming option is to align with the Igbos for Biafra Actualization.

Sure, apology accepted.
If you check out the other threads we have about Igbo Reps for 2003, you'll see that we stressed that only Biafra conscious reps are acceptable.
The era for money bag sabo reps is over. We will only endorse pro MASSOB reps this time around. Igbo grassroots are rapidly being sensitized to this. Is it a wonder that we have MASSOB, Bakassi Boys, etc?

Therefore, any hand-picked Ibo puppet that's not MASSOB Actualization oriented (a real IGBO will be anti-status quo and pro MASSOB) will be vogorously rejected. Any effort(s) by this puppet to clamp down on Biafrans will be a grave mistake.
In the end his masters will get rid of him...thru vote of no confidence/impeachement, murder, or coup. They'll assume power and would try to forcefully keep Nigeria together.

This time around it will not work as the imperialists do not have permanent friends but permanent interests. They acknowledge that the Northern/Yoruba misrule for forty one years, and that the Biafra agitation, NDelta unrest, even Oduduwa republic are all meant in earnest and determination.
They'll pitch their tent where the oil is for continued profit/exploitation when push becomes shove. Currently, they are highly sensitive about Islamic terrorism/Osama Bin Laden. Biafra already has an Observer status at the UN, just like the Isrealis (before they got their independence). This is no longer the sixties. As long as the oil producing Biafra will allow them their continued exploitation, they will encourage her Actualization...once the North burst the Nigerian bubble.

Amanda,
It sounds like the Balkans. How about the ominous consequences that may outweigh the past in terms of casualties? In this sort of agitation and with diversified sentiments as we've seen in MASSOB, Bakassi Boys, other Igbo vigilante and interest groups together with the think tank you indicated is now a watch dog at the United Nations, don't you think when it comes to political lobbying, otherwise known as bribery, MASSOB could be compromised?

There is a lot to fear here. First MASSOB cannot do it alone. In my own opinion, if the desire of MASSOB is to actualize Biafran sovereingty, it must spread its gospel farther in order to achieve its major objectives. Secondly, there is the "Egbe Omo Oduduwa" whose agitation cannot be taken seriously for its known vice of double-tongue. I believe such perspectives must be put into consideration to carry out any agitation of secession.

Bature,
Nigeria is not like the Balkans at all. In the Balkans, the moslems and the orthodox christians lived side by side with no demarcating boundaries. They all came to be as a conquest of the Ottoman empire's conquest prior to and during World War 1.

The Biafrans were never conquered by any one...be it the British or the Usman Dan Fodio Islamic army. The Biafrans also have their homeland in their enclave with clear demarcatable boundaries.

I'm assuming that you know that USSR got peacefully split into several nations without any massacres or a single shot fired.( I'm talking about a former military and nuclear super power). Note that Chechnya is going thru the current labor pain due to the fact that they were romancing with Russia at the time and as such failed to demand nationhood for themselves when the rest were getting theirs. They woke up from their romance slumber a little too late. Now the rest is history.

The only forseeable casualties will be those Ibos who insist on playing harlot by remaining on hostile lands while we forge ahead with Biafra nation.
Naturally, the UN will conduct a referendum in Biafra and possibly Nigeria (to determine who else want to join Biafra while they still can). Next, the boundaries will be drawn and demarcated (quite easy). Then, they'd assist Biafra in transition into countryhood vis a vis the army, navy, police, infrastructure, administration, policies, resource management, etc.

Note that it will be naive to talk about Biafra operations here. Nonetheless, capable seasoned political lobbying personnel is in place both at UN and other world organizations.
The "MASSOB gospel", as you put it, has been spread farthest and it has started bearing healthy and juicy fruits.
So there's not really anything to fear here.
We were all once capable and seperate nations. We insist on reclaiming ourself.

As for the "Egbe Omo Oduduwa", I leave it for the Yoruba who are competently qualified to voice on its agenda and agitation.

Bature welcome to the board. I could not help but make two observations about one of your post to support my earlier statement about the demise of Nigeria. The first was never to count out the Northern elite. It is my belief that this group is the best when it comes to acquiring power. One could not help but marvel at how they drafted OO to checkmate Ekwueme of Six regions and regional army fame. Their efficiency at achieving their set goals may be traced to their culture. Some people say that there is more political intrique involved in the making of the sultan of sokoto than in the president of Nigeria. What if they engineer a military coup, with the HOS from the southern minorities? That would leave out the Igbos and Yorubas. the Igbos would not lose any sleep over the present government as it stands. That leaves the Yorubas to take any action that they consider appropriate(seccession).By the way the armoury has been moved to Ibadan.
You might say that the western community would put pressure on the military!.
If as I expect OO's backers do not support his second term, he is going to defy them. That would mean that the 2003 elections will exhibit unprecedented level of electoral fraud. As it is evenly poise between the pro and the anti camp, soldiers come out of the barracks.
The concept of one Nigeria exists only amongst people in Diaspora and during Sporting activity.

Osetutu my brother, I hear you.
Though the info is classified, I felt that Bature will derive some insight from it as to inevitability of Biafra Actualization. The sooner any tribe/region who think they have a stranglehold on Biafra realizes it, the better they look inward for their own national survival.
