Somebody sent a petition to the upper house a while ago. In it a Yoruba senator Afikuyomi was alleged to have defrauded the guy under the guise of helping him to secure a US visa or is it green card sef? True to type this issue has literally received the Tinubu-Chicago treatment in the hands of the Oduduwa media ie no publicity. Where they have said anything on the issue, it has just been to report what Afikuyomi the suspect has said which is that he “thrives in opposition.”. Even chief Reuben Abati has not taken it upon himself to investigate or write on this case and yet he’d hurriedly gone to town as soon as the Kuta (Okadigbo must go) panel began to sit. His catchy headline then was “Okadigbo and the forty thieves” and that was even before the hearing was concluded. Personally, I’d like to hear the petitioner’s side of the story since this case is a lot more serious than all the “purchase of many official cars” for which Okadigbo was vilified. Somebody should find out: Did he do it? http://nigeriaworld.com/news/source/2001/may/6/34.html

What else is new? When it comes to fraud by these Yoruba thieves, the Ngwati, Lagos-Ibadan axis press looks the other way. Even the so-called journalists develop athrities and are suddenly unable to write. Say the word Okadigbo or Anyim, and all of sudden they rise to draw blood.

I am not surprised the Ibadan - Lagos axis has not deemed this serious enough to write about it. Where are the Reuben Abatis and the Laolu Akande's of the world who always jump to distroy Igbo politician and play anmersia when it come to yoruba politicians.
This is what yoruba press are known for so it is nothing new.

Biafra, did you say "Laolu Akande?" Is he not the one that manufactures his own news at nigeriaworld message board? He creates the news over there, then he reports it. Speak about conflict of interest. These Nigerians sef. Even the ones in America don't seem to learn anything.

Somebody is adopting desperate measures now oh!

Afikuyomi sues Senate over probe of allegations
From Emmanuel Onwubiko, Abuja
DETERMINED to avert a looming probe into his alleged criminal misdemeanour, embattled Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi at the weekend filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja to stop the upper legislative House from carrying out the plan.
Cited as defendants in the suit are Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, Senator Jonathan Zwingina, for themselves and all the Senators who attended the session at the upper chambers on May 2, and the Attorney-General of the Federation Chief Bola Ige (SAN) as first second, third and fourth defendants.
Afikuyomi's prayers as stated by his counsel, Rickey Terfa (SAN) include an order of intelocutory injunction restraining the Upper House from investigating the criminal allegations pending the determination of the suit.
The Senator also urged the court to restrain the Senate from interfering with his membership of the Upper House.
In an 18-paragraph affidavit, Afikuyomi from Lagos Central constituency, averred that on May 2, 2001, a newspaper published on page 34 an open letter dated Monday, April 30, 2001 to the Senate as a petition against him. He also averred:
 I was at the premises of the Senate on the said Wednesday when the said decision was allegedly taken;
 the 3rd defendant on the said date introduced the said petition referred to in paragraph 8 above;
 I have been confronted by many senators who falsely alleged that I have obliged media houses of transactions particularly scandalous financial transactions of the Senate and Senators and which has necessitated the so-called investigations in a bid to get back at me;
 the Senate took a decision and directed its Public Petitions Committee to investigate the allegations;
 I am challenging the Senate in respect of the steps they have taken against me;
 I know as a fact the defendants in their overzealous approach are desirous of taking steps to interfere with my membership of the Senate;
 unless the court takes urgent steps to restrain the defendants they will take steps and foist upon the court a situation of complete helplessness;
 the defendants will not be prejudiced by the grant of the relief and it will be in the interest of justice to grant the reliefs sought; and
 that I am ready to enter into an undertaking for damages in the unlikely event that it turns out that the orders sought ought not to have been made.
Afikuyomi therefore asked the court to determine:
 whether Section 88 of the Constitution confers on the defendants powers to investigate criminal allegations against him and
 whether having regard to the provisions of Section 41 (7) of the Standing Rules of the Senate 1999 which limits petitions to be received by the Senate to matters for which there is no judicial remedy, the defendants could entertain the petition by one Festus Keyamo dated Monday, April 30, 2001 when it was obvious on the face of the petition that the petitioners have taken steps at judicial remedy.
The senator consequently wants the court to declare that Section 88 of the constitution does not confer powers on the Senate to investigate criminal investigations against him.
In addition, Afikuyomi sought a declaration that the defendants cannot entertain a petition by Lagos lawyer Keyamo against him.
The date for the mention of the suit is yet to be determined as Justice Okechukwu Okeke, the most senior judge at the Federal High Court in Abuja, has not assigned the case to any of the two other Federal High Court Judges, namely Mojisola Olatoregun and Binta Murtallah-Nyako.

How ironic the AD groups who wanted to lynch Nzeribe last year for calling for Obasanjo impeachment are now asking Court to save their fat ass. Dr B you are right The Laolu Akande of Nigeriaworld is like a leopard that will never change its skin. No matter where he goes he is still a yoruba. I am so glad that there is no reputable US news paper that will hire his likes. The paper bag journalist.
