Amazingly, Obasanjo's inept, corrupt regime continues to live in denial on Babangida being part of the decision makers in the so-called "Rocks." In the following article, he (Babangida) heads a delegation to broker peace in Sudan. Only in Nigeria.

Nigerian Peace Emissaries In Khartoum

Yahya El Hassan
Khartoum, Sudan

Nigerian foreign Minister Sule Lamido and the country's former President Ibrahim Babangida arrived in Khartoum Monday in continuation of Abuja's efforts to broker peace in Sudan.

Babangida said on arrival the delegation will deliver a message from President Olusegun Obasanjo to his Sudanese counterpart Omar el Bashir on the Nigerian initiative to achieve peace in Sudan "Nigeria has always been involved in the effort to bring about peace in Sudan," Babangida told reporters, adding: "...our present visit is part of the continuous consultations between the two countries on the peace process."

Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Osman said the Nigerian envoys would meet el Bashir Tuesday.

"We welcome the Nigerian envoys and on this occasion, I must appreciate the good relations binding the two nations," Osman said.

Nigerian Ambassador to Sudan, Osman Bello said in a recent statement that his country was seeking the involvement of more African countries in the peace process in Sudan.

He said Nigeria and South Africa would boost the efforts by Libya and Egypt to restore peace in Sudan, which is plagued by rebellion from the South.

Paul,

Thanks for your posting. I must confess that I've not been following the Sudan crisis, but even at that it is easy to infer that this evil gathering can only spell DOOM for the people of Southern Sudan.

From the names; Ibrahim Babangida, Sule lamido, Osman Bello, Egypt and Lybia, it is easy to deduce that Aremu has sanctioned a jihad in Sudan. Like the blood of the innocent shed in Nigeria, God will require the blood of the people of Souther Sudan from Aremu's hand. Meanwhile is it possible to petition a few people in the developed world on the plight of these down-trodden people.

My point here is, why in heavens sake would Babangida be leading a delegation assigned by the president while his past atrocities has not been addressed; and may not be addressed? On the other hand, it means the lame-duck president is more interested in the satanic Islamic causes than he do to his own fellow Christians, if at all he is a christian.

Ebubedike & co.

I have spoken before on South Sudan and I believe Amanda did justice to that issue as well.

Babangida and Lamido are wasting their time. Even with the support of islamist in Iran and Libya the primitive shariaist government in Khartoum has failed to subdue the African south.I am encouraged with the resilence of the SPLA(Sudan peoples liberation Army). Despite their lack of support from the idiots in the OAU this people continue to fight for their freedom.

When sharia was introduced in Sudan the government was insensitive to the southern christians and today just like Nigeria, Sudan cannot be one country. The United States is currently looking into the abuses in South Sudan, and I doubt the SPLA will take Obasanjo's emissary serious knowing how well he has fared with religious tolerance in Nigeria.

Southern Sudan will soon get their independence as the Biafrans are getting theirs.

Sudan was unanimously voted in at the Human rights committee in stead of US for a crucial reason. The committee spokes country, France, explained that Sudan is known as one of the countries with the worst human rights violation record. To effect the proper change on him, he has to be pulled aboard. Once inside, he'd be on so much pressure that he'd have no choice but to comply with the human rights laws and regulations.
Once that is done, Sudan has no choice but to free Southern Sudan for independence.

I'm sure that Ifa oracle has revealed Biafra's successful independence to Obasanjo. What he's doing at this last leg of his jamboree is to return babangida's favor while he still can. The state he is in right now, is that of a criminal who knows that the carpet is about to be pulled from under him, but is desperately trying everything to stall such eventuality.

Hello Fellow Biafrans!
This is my first time on this forum.

Ohafia Udemeze

Babangida is trying very hard to redeem himself. He knows that it will be a herculean task to win the hearts of most Nigerians. As for the Biafrans, he does'nt have a chance.

When would Obasanjo stop dining and wining with the Hausa-Fulanis. Adding more insult to dishonor, he sends Shehu Shagari to represent him at Museveni's swearing-in ceremony. Also, upon his swearing in as Fourth Republic president, he (Obasanjo) delegated Babangida to send a special message to Museveni. Umm....the missing billion dollars oil money.

Obasanjo Sends Shagari for Museveni Swearing-in Ceremony

New Vision (Kampala)

May 10, 2001
Posted to the web May 10, 2001

Kampala

Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has sent former president Shehu Shagari to represent him at President Yoweri Museveni's swearing-in on Saturday, writes Hamis Kaheru.

"Shagari will arrive here on Friday with a delegation of ministers and other government leaders," the Nigerian Deputy High Commissioner, J. K Nuhu, said yesterday.

He said Gen. Obasanjo, who had confirmed that he would attend the swearing-in, changed his programme because of a tight schedule. He met DRC and Rwanda presidents, Joseph Kabila and Paul Kagame respectively, in their countries a few days ago and he is scheduled to meet US President George W. Bush tomorrow.

"Our President is very busy. He will meet President Bush on Friday at 12.00 noon Ugandan time, so he cannot make it to Kampala for the ceremony," Nuhu said.

The envoy said Obasanjo found Shagari the best person to represent him at the swearing-in because he (Shagari) is a former elected civilian president in a country that has been ruled by soldiers for most of the 40 years of independence.

Shagari headed a government of elected civilians from October 1979 until December 1983 when he was toppled in a New Year eve coup by Maj. Gen. Mohammadu Buhari.

He had succeeded Gen. Obasanjo who in 1979 was the first Nigerian leader to voluntarily relinquish power.

Obasanjo, formerly deputy head of state, had assumed the presidency in 1976 when Gen. Murtala Mohammed was assassinated in an abortive coup.

Nuhu said all former presidents are members of the executive committee chaired by the sitting president.

The committee's role is mainly advisory. Gen. Obasanjo, who became president for the second time in May 1999 through a general election, sent former president Gen. Ibrahim Babangida to Uganda in December 1999 to present a special message to President Museveni.

Aremu has revived and strengthened the awusa fulani oligarchy. History will judge and hold him accountable for this dastardly act, committed while parading his pathetic frame as a born again Christian. Ewu awusa!!

The appointment of Babangida as ambassador is the only problem I have with Obasanjo. The other complaints are unfounded. The country has improved under Obasanjo.

Bamidele,

Which country? What improvement?

We appreciate you are writing from Aremu's jungle,Lagos(his words not mine), but all these monosyllables doesn't make sense. Why don't you make an effort at explaining just what you mean. You can type it out in MS Word and just copy and paste it when you get on line at the business centre, that way, you'll still send a sensible posting without necessarily spending a fortune at the biz. centre.

Ohafia assumes confidently that power supply will be stable enough for a cut and paste operation from MS Word to the board!

And this guy may be a big man. Otherwise, how does he have access to a computer.
He is probably also one of those who will boisterously proclaim their knowledge of the outside world having completed a tour of cleaning duties in England.

Whichever way you look at it, Bamidele is a quitessential Lagosian. I assume he will retort that he lives in Victoria Island. To which I say -and so what? He may even have a four-wheeler he rides on broken roads without traffic lights. Yeye man. Worse still, an Obasanjo in the making!
