The month of May is with us again. Every Biafran knows the significance of this Month : it was the Month 34 years ago, when we decided to drive apart and be safe rather than drive together and collide. 34 years is a long time and as I type these words, I am conscious of the fact that there are many like me who could only express themselves by the language of infancy, ie. crying, at that momentous point in our history. Today, we can talk, laugh, shout, and off course exhibit all the expressions associated with fully developed humans. This thread is for you that was Biafran child , but now Biafran man/woman. You who made the bush your cradle, and your lullaby the cacophony of bombs & gun shots and still grew to crystallize your dream. Today 12/05/01 or 05/12/01 is my birthday and my wish for you, my fellow Biafran is the BEST OF EVERYTHING. Look yourself in the mirror and beat your chest and say “ I thank my God for I am wonderfully and fearfully made” Son, daughter, you have prevailed!!

Hip! Hip! Hurray!! Happy birthday and many more returns to you my dear Ohafia Udemeze. As you celebrate, dont forget to sharpen your pen (fingers), for we need people like you who are not afraid to spit fire which is often mellowed with truth. Stay blessed!

Ohafia: Happy birthday to you. Like you, many members of this forum were either not even born when Biafra was declared and many more were born only after the military conflict ended in 1970. It fills me with joy that today, these young men and women are answering the call, and saying NO TO GENOCIDE, NO TO POGROM, and NO TO INJUSTICE, just as our parents and grand parents did 34-years ago. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Bro Ohafia, A very merry Happy Birthday to you! I expect you celebrated it with a deserving pomp and fanfare, and that it was heartily satisfactory to you.

I hope an Emeritus can join too. The month of May (1967) for me means euphoria, as a lads we were all returning from school, there was this magic and expectations in the air, that this country to be (Biafra), will be a great country. I dare say, the feeling was better than a good s.., and we all came. It is not to make you guys jalous, just ask those that can remember, how it was in May 1967.
What is still bugging me, is that those that distrupted our project, did and could not give us something better in return. That is why, it gives me joy to see the new Breed Biafran’s holding on to the dream.
More greese to your elbows Nwa-Ohafia, and to all you lovely new Breed Biafran’s, and freind’s of Biafra
Have a good week.
PS: As of now, it is already ‘tropical sunshine’ and very warm in my office (lunchtime).
Thanks a million for your felicitations. Some of your remarks were so kind and touched my heart deeply. I indeed count myself priviledged to have you all as friends, brothers & sisters.
Did I have a drink? Yes: miri oroma(orange juice), I'm a teetotaller by choice and so money for my magarita should go to my charity viz; Action for Disabled & Incapacitated Biafrans (DIBIA).
By dear bros in Denmark,
Please bear with me. I wasn't on about so called generation dichotomy and I thoroughly enjoyed your stories. My elder brother had the same experience and was held back on one occasion from throwing a stone at a low flying Nigerian plane. I'm presently putting together a thread dedicated to Biafra where we can all pay tribute to the rising sun which yeye Yakubu erroneously claimed has been dimmed forever. It was fun to see his Fulani/Islam bros desecrate the memory of his pious father by destroying his grave. I'll leave you with the words of the Ikemba from Ivory Coast. "As a people we have endured as only giants endure. We have fought as heroes fight. ........... We are disillusioned by the world’s insensitivity to the plight of our people. Yet because our cause is just we believe we have not lost the war, only that the battlefield has changed. We are convinced that Biafra will survive. Biafra was born out of the blood of innocents slaughtered in Nigeria during the pogroms of 1966. Biafra will ever live, not as a dream but as the crystallization of the cherished hopes of a people who see in the establishment of this territory a last hope for peace and security. Biafra cannot be destroyed by mere force of arms".
