Tinubu moves to tackle robbery with OPC
By Kenneth Ehigiator, Albert Akpor & May Mbat
LAGOS THE Lagos State Government is considering the option of engaging the services of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) to check the rising wave of armed robbery in the state, according to Governor Bola Tinubu.
The governor on a sympathy visit to retired Chief Justice of the Federation (CJF), Justice Atanda Fatai-Williams said if the plan sailed through, the OPC members would be expected to complement the efforts of the police until a remarkable improvement in the anti-crime move.
However, police sources hinted yesterday in Lagos that the Presidency had directed that the numerical strength of policemen in the state be doubled to 24,000 from the present 12,000.
Justice Fatai-Williams was, last weekend, robbed at his Adetokunbo Ademola Street residence in Lagos by six men.
But Gov. Tinubu on a visit to him yesterday said the planned engagement of OPC members by government was one of the options being considered by his administration on account of the inability of the present number of policemen in the state to cope with the situation. According to him, this option will remain top on governments list until the Federal Government approved the request for more policemen in the state.
Said he: "The return of the OPC is one of the options. We wont throw away any options. Any means necessary to step down the crime wave in the state and control it will be adopted, as long as people will not use them (OPC members) for settling personal quarrels, friction by landlords and getting into other things."
The governor said "OPC vigilante might be in the interim until we get police, but you have to look at the other side of excesses coming from the OPC, where they might be used to settle personal quarrels and create additional problems for the state."
According to him, there are bad eggs within the group who may want to bring their over-zealousness to bear in the crime control activities, but stressed that over-reactions would be checkmated. The governor warned members of the public that government might not take kindly to a situation where OPC members, if co-opted into crime fighting and control in the state, were used to settle personal scores.
Tinubu lamented that the current crime wave in the state had reached a frightening level that there was need for him to meet with the President once more on how to articulate an enduring solution.
"We are going to intensify efforts, re-group and re-examine our strategy. It is getting to a stage that we have to hold another meeting with the President on national security to set up various efforts which I cannot now make public," he said.
He also made case for urgent provision of accommodation, effective equipment, logistics and other conveniences for the police as these, according to him, will enhance their morale.
lPresidency approves more policemen for Lagos
Vanguard has gathered that additional 12,000 policemen had been approved for the state by the Presidency to bring the strength of policemen in the state to 24,000. The Presidency was said to have been alarmed at the current security situation in the state.
The directive is now awaiting implementation by the Inspector-General, Mr. Musiliu Smith. Sources said the additional policemen might start arriving the state by the end of this month.
I share you concerns. The strength of the Oduduwa army is put at a conservative 2million and I think they are just about to start warming up for 2003. You will recall the recent seizure of 5Million dollars worth of Arms & weapons in Lagos.
The people I pity are my own people of Eastern Nigeria where an elected congressman found it in his heart to call for the killing/shooting of unarmed members of his constituency. I see more people coming back in body bags from the north.
The awusa people don't really need any external publicity to unleash mayhem. All it takes is a couple of chants tomorrow(Friday) afternoon and we will all "move backwards to move forward" even if it is only for 2days and empty threats.

That remains to be seen, the OPC were outlawed by the Federal govenment. The only way they will function as crime fighters is to change their name otherwise what's the need for the respect of law when the group was banned by the Feds. Ordinary Hausas foam in the mouth and Igbo business men and women pay more insurance on sight with OPC.
I do not have any qualms about OPC as crime fighters so long as they refrain from stealing, looting and intimidating Biafran businesses in Lagos. I second them as crime fighters but they will have to go through the Feds to unban them or change their name from OPC to New and Improved.
Name change is way to go because they have developed a reputation as thugs, thieves, bunch of cowards and blood thirsty vampires on hopeless adventure.......the actualization of the Oduduwa Republic.
May be they will function better this time since most members, hopelessly unemployed will now get paid by the state government[Lagos]. That ought to ease their dysfunctional behavior.
Hail Biafra

A terrorist group is being harnessed to police Lagos. Thanks to the Lagos State governor. Yet, the governor of Abia State is seeking to feed the peaceful MASSOB to a pack of genocidal animals called Nigerian Police/Army. Tufiakwa!!
If you people want to be nice to Orji Uzor Kalu, that is your problem. To me, he is a dangerous opportunist who must be stopped before he sells us up the river. I loved him when he stepped forward after Kaduna. But now, we have to stop him before those who warned us about him start laughing at us.

It is wrong, it is unacceptable and shouldn't be tolerated.
Jude: I agree with you on this one. Igbo people should come together and denounce Kalu for what he now stands for--the dribbling tactics to earn him the 2003 presidential ticket--deceptively embracing a one united Nigeria when he really don't mean it. Now Igbos know who Orji Kalu is.

Mr Bamidele, with all respect, you sound very stupid. I mean, I have been following your threads; and in no place and under any circumstances have you made any kind of sense. I don't know who you are, but the Igbos are unique people.
God bless your egbe omo oduduwa state.

Mr. Bamiashawodele There's a difference between OPC and MASSOB. OPC members are a group of irate jobless bandits looking for people to kill and loot their propeties. They don't have any goal. Today they want Oduduwa republic tommorrow they want to eradicate criminals when they themselves are criminals. Since they came out what have they accomplished? Nothing. Do we have the Republic Of Oduduwa? No
MASSOB and it's members are a group of intelligent Efik, Igbo, Ibibio, Ijaw speaking people who have a specific goal and are not about to let the bastard in Aso Rock to intimidate them. The is a lawyer so he knows the way he can actualize Biafra legally. I thank God that I am from the East.
Look at the facts before making useless statements.

The Hausa-Fulani say NO to OPC policing Lagos.
Nigeria's federal government will not accept plans by the Lagos administration to use an ethnic militia to fight crime in the country's biggest city, Minister of Information Jerry Gana said on Wednesday. The minister, briefing journalists at the end of the weekly federal executive council meeting, said that apart from the federal government's determination to discourage the growth of ethnic militias in the country, the Oodua Peoples' Congress (OPC) remained a banned organisatiion See The Hausa-Fulani say NO to OPC policing Lagos.
Bamidele: Now, what say you? Even Yoruba governors cannot call the shots in Yorubaland. Yoruba is occupied territory. Jerry Ghana is your Hausa-Fulani master. What is that laugh of yours? gHahaha?h

Bola Tinubu is still looking to state police. They have learnt to eat from other people's sweat. I hope the robberies are not sponsored? In Niger anything can happen. His uncle Aremu is confussed over the whole thing, he is only active in the Biafra region. The Aremu of a man is still executing civil war.
Can the politican deny the fact that the robbers are not their current or former political thugs.
We simply need a system to let the African Jews (Biafrans) take extra caution.

The Jews have no similarity to the Igbos. Your analogy of Igbo being African Jews is incorrect, untrue and illfounded. On what ground are you making this claim?

Nothing moves in your God forsaken Nigeria Without them, else just tell your mallam brother to allow the Hebrews go. You are still waiting for miracle. You will see it but Pharoah may be better than you after that. Just advice them, let my people go. We don't want the marriage called Nigeria. I long for Republic of Biafra, where technology will be our way of life, not empty policies of frustrations.
Aremu is the only 'Owambe' that have ruled Nigeria, we don't count Shoneka. The rest after the Biafran uprising has been mallams.
Within 30yrs after the uprising, check out how God has led His Children. Any industriy they put their hands into prospers. He turns desert for them into a fertile land. What evidence do you need again.
The cultural similarities.

Eby; I still have no idea what your ramblings are. The Igbos, coillectively are the most disorganized people. And in terms ofr their similarities with the Jews, it is not even close. The Jews left wherever they were and went back enmasse to what was Palestine and declared the State4 of Israel.
How many Igbos in these recent times are willing to make such sacrifice without considering the consequences and their family?

Bature, What are you up to? What is your stress? Can you give the African Jews a gap (200Km can be okay). Do you want to contaminate us with your unholy acts? "I nu go, kwekwa ife Otu kwu ka i naa n'oge".
It is not late yet for you to join the Biafran Citizenship. I want to advice you on how to get it:
1. Through declaration of all their believes. Denoucing of your oringial "Ofe mmanu" or "Zuwo, Arewa" believes that if you kill, you will go heaven. 2. Through marriage, so you can be "Ogo Ndi Biafra".
What you are asking for you would soon get, the mass exodus of Biafrans from the North has only just commenced, but if you think oil will still be flowing in pipelines to Kaduna think again. You might want to start consulting your brothers in Niger and Chad republic as to what life is like without Biafran resources and ingenuity, or better still place your order for Camels and donkeys while you can now.

Eby, A warm welcome to you. This board is yours. Enjoy it.
Bature, I doubt you care a thing about the difference between the Hebrews Igbos and the Jews. Your only concern is milking their resources. Its getting embarrassingly obvious the way you dabble mischieviously, albeit incoherently into any issue connected to Biafrans just for the sake of voicing something.
There you are, I believe that you personally have the blood of Igbo Hebrews on your hands. Do you not feel cursed that even at a very tender age, you are taught in the mosque to spill the blood of the Hebrews (Igbos) in your midst? There in lies the crux of your insormountable problems in the North. To be redeemed, islam must be taken out of you.

Amanda: You sound very much like one who is intollerant to religion. Should't freedom of religion be respected in what you now call democracy? By the way, what is your religious affiliation? Christianity or paganism? I am just curious.

Bature, In your own words, "Should't freedom of religion be respected in what you now call democracy?"
The minute you start acknowledging, respecting and putting into practise, the religious freedom of non moslems in your midst, we'll start taking you serious.
Speaking of religious intolerance and barbarity, was it not few months ago that your jihardist zealous brethrens aka moslems hacked the christian Biafrans in their midst to pieces for the failed appearance of the lunar eclipse? What was your excuse? That your failure to see "signs from paradise" was caused by the non-moslem Biafrans whom you dubbed "infidels". Bature, this is the 21st century, for goodness' sake. When are you people going to embrace civilization?
Bature, the day you realize the twisted brainwashings you've been spoonfeld by the imams, is the beginning of your mental freedom. Thus, when you undergo that, you'll double over in agonizing repentance for so much evil you have been misled to commit in the name of islam.
Let me indulge my wishful thinking that you'd get a little bit of the idea that religion, especially the islamic one, is a poisonous opium which has led the northern indigenes to self-destructive addiction. Hearken to my accent, tis a spiritualist speaking to you.
By the way, do you know that a pagan is one who does not believe in God? If so, then you would have realized that I believe in God. Read my postings, too.

Amanda: WELL, PAGANS ARE RELIGIOUS and believe in a supreme bieng. The only difference is, Pagans do not believe in the biblical principles of Christianity, the Torah of Judaism and the Koran (Quoran) of Islam; thus, all its claim of the Almighty.
Now, since you have acknowledged being a Christian and a believer that spreads the word of Jesus Christ as the son of God, does that make you an original? Like in other religions as in Budhaism, Karmaism, Islamism and even Judaism, Jesus was never accepted as the son of God. Most of these religions recognized Christ as a messenger of God, just like other prophets, as in Mohammed, while others denounced him as a fraud.
On believing in God, I know only of atheists who have denounced God's existence.

Bature, Enough of your religious teaching. You can call Jesus anything it can never cahnge your destiny. If you accept Him as your Saviour, things will change for you. Boy, just repent. Your islam is not having the same God. They are worshipping the God of violence.
The Biafrans can't accept that, because GOD IS LOVE.
Crime: No Objection to OPC- Obasanjo By Austeen Elewodalu
President Olusegun Obasanjo said yesterday that he had no objection to the use of ethnic militia to fight the rising crime rate in the country.
Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja, Obasanjo emphasised however that efforts of such groups should only complement those of the police.
He said he appreciated reasons why the Lagos State governor, Senator Bola Tinubu is planning to engage the services of the banned Oodua People Congress (OPC) to fight crime in the state, pointing out that in doing so OPC's activities should be in accordance with the law.
"We want to confine our fight against crime to the police, the body charged with the responsibility to fight crime. They have the means to investigate apprehend criminals and procure informants", he said.
Speaking on request for state police by some state governments, Obasanjo said he believed that it would be better to strengthen the existing police force to perform its constitutional duties.
"I believe that what we should do is to strengthen what we have. When we have 36 police than we will have 36 standards", he pointed out.
Responding to question on clamour for the convocation of Sovereign National Conference, Obasanjo aid those behind the call had ulterior motives.
He said people have different reasons for their call for a constitutional conference. Some, according to him said they want to put in the constitution self determination which he pointed out may lead to session.
On the rising cost of food in the country, the President said the Federal Government had cause to intervene by buying food from farmers because they were not selling their products at profitable prices.
He argued that there had been between 150 and 200 per cent increase in income of the people but lamented that farmers had been at disadvantaged position.
"We should not blame farmers for the high cost of food. The directors get their prices for their services, the lawyers, lecturers and so on get fair prices for their services, why the farmers? he asked.
He said it is the availability of food that really mattered and not their prices adding that government was trying to ensure that the food was available.
On ports congestion, he said government was not prepared to relax its order of 100 per cent inspection of good, a step which he said was already yielding results.
He said government would soon take a decision on containers that have been abandoned at the ports by their owners.

Their sins are finding them out. Do you know what.
They just gave us a bad name to hang us (MASSOB). They said because we are importing arms into the country to execute war, that is why they said 100% declaration in the port. What a lying government?
Now the youths they trained against Abacha is disturbing them. The OPC weapons where are them?
Their sins will find them out, The evil that men do lives with them. God Bless Biafra.
