Anambra Hosts Oil, Gas Investors Today

To launch itself into the group of oil-producing states, the Anambra State government has concluded plans to host an Oil/Gas Investors Summit, today at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Victoria Island, Lagos.
Making this revelation during an exclusive chat with The Guardian in Awka, the Special Adviser to the governor on Energy, Power and Mineral Resources Chief Uzo Obi-Okoli, acknowledged that the government has realised the need for private sector participation in the down stream petroleum industry, power generation, fuel for transportation, kerosine, diesel and others most of which are used by industries.
She pointed out that it was Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju's resolve to improve the economic and industrial base of the state that informed the packaging of the investors' summit.
According to her, the meet would draw participants, investors, financiers, multinational agencies, the diplomatic community, local and international publics and others.
Obi-Okoli stressed that it has been recognised that integrated upstream/downstream development of the states oil and gas resources would provide a springboard for rapid industrialisation of the state.
