A Yoruba man was previously appointed by Obasanjo as Auditor General, however, the senate refused the appointment by defect of his tribe to a more senior and competent person, precisly an Igboman.
Dec 2002, the acting Auditor General indicted all levels of government including Obasanjo for misappropriation of government money. The Auditor general was then removed to an incompetent Yoruba man because his report was damaging to the Presidency. And Obasanjo would like Biafranigerians to believe that he is fighting corruption, yet he failed to answer questions from the Auditor General. Amazing.

Only few people are decieved by the illusion and deciets of Aremu's anti-curruption abracatabra, come to think of it, Obasanjo was and effectively remians the most corrupt Biafranigerian, his case is special because he combine's corruption with wickedness, eliminating real and imagined opponents by any means possible including assasination, the gimmicks of anti-corruption crusade is targeted to a foreign audience,we the people of the land are not moved or confused about the leopard changing it's colours, he introduced corruption into the highest office of the land as a military dictator and perfected it a civilian dictator, today he has among his best friends Tony Aninneh, Authur Nziribe, a host of corrupt sick-men.

If Obasanjo actually is serious about fighting corruption, he ought to set an exmaple on Tafa Balogun and prosecute the hoodlum. Because Balogun is the root of all evils, Chris Uba and others combined. But one troubling quality of Obasanjo intent is that he replaced Balogun with another impcompetent Yoruba to run the Justice system. How sad? We are waiting to see what will become of Tafa Balogun.

Waypoint1Biafra:

Do you think Obasanjo is serious about fighting corruption? Obasanjo onloy acts when his hands are tied.

Obasanjo is not serious about fighting corruption. he only pays lip service to it. If he is serious, he will start from himself. Bishop Ogini, had told him to confess to his sins; only them can he truthfully and sincerely led himself to Uhuru. He can never lead Nija to anywhere but downhill. So long as IBB is free, So long as he refuses to make public the oputa report and implement it, we will be decieving ourself to see him as sincere. Imagine Chris Ubah is still running around free. No comment from Obasanjo as to how the destroyed property in Anambra is gonna be fixed!

Tafa Balogun's cup is full, and of cos, Obasanjo will cover up for him or else the can of worms will be released by Balogun.(Balogun knows too much about OBJ and the inner workings of this govt.) Balogun will enjoy his loot just like IBB and others are doing.

You are right, Obasanjo is probably the most phony and insincere human being in the world. The sad thing is that Obasanjo continue to engage in blasphemy, by claiming to be a born again christian. When his hands are soiled with innocent blood.

If Obasanjo is serious about fighting corruption, he would started from his family. Every member of Obasanjo's family is today selling oil exploration licenses. Because obasanjo is the both the president and oil minister, can anybody actually state the true actual revenues generated from oil each year since obasanjo took office. All that nonsense about debt forgiviness and trottling the globe, was just to confusing innocent Nigerians.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand why things have transpired the way they have. Nwa-Afor hit the bullseye when he said

quote:
Tafa Balogun's cup is full, and of cos, Obasanjo will cover up for him or else the can of worms will be released by Balogun.(Balogun knows too much about OBJ and the inner workings of this govt.)
We should understand it as a given that dictatorial heads of government rely almost exclusively on 'police powers' and the threat of force to effectively manage their agendas and silence their opponents. In this regard Obasanjo may not be as dumb as he looks. Never mind the public outcry, a despot has to ensure his own safety by carefully weighing the dangers of tampering with the hierarchy of an entrenched police power.

When the tyrant Nero of ancient Rome lost touch with and the allegiance of the Praetorian Guard (the Roman police force), he was unceremoniously butchered and replaced with Otho, whom they thought they could better rely on to uphold their interests, without regard to the general opinion of the citizenry.

I won't go so far as to say Obasanjo is clever, but rather calculating and devious. Balogun is still too close to the raw power of the state for Obasanjo to make him an outright enemy. His expertise is in violence and deadly force. That makes him a special sort of adversary. Even now he has the means to form secret alliances and engineer plots against Obasanjo, something the Nigerian president would like to avoid. This explains why he is being allowed to "resign and retire," even with an award to boot. But when he(Balogun) is safely out to pasture and relieved of his influence, and Obasanjo has made new friends at Police headquarters, then we can look to see the former IG of Police be more forcefully and permanently dealt with. Ol' Tafa better watch his back; we don't want him to suddenly dissapear one day...or do we?

Hurrahhhh!! George Bush finally SNUBBED the master rogue. His plea for an invite was rebuffed by Washington due to his excess baggage - CORRUPTION.

quote:
Why Obasanjo was not at inauguration of American President. By MODESTUS CHUKWULAKA, Abuja - Thisday - January 25, 2005.

President Olusegun Obasanjo was deliberately shut out from last Thursday’s inauguration of President George Bush of the US by adamant officials of the State Department in Washington.
Daily Sun learnt this was in spite of repeated attempts by Aso Rock to persuade the event organisers that Obasanjo was eminently qualified and willing to attend the inauguration.
Impeccable diplomatic sources said at the weekend that the State Department refused to extend invitation to Obasanjo to demonstrate its increasing dissatisfaction with his administration.

The Presidency, the sources said, had in the run-up to the inauguration phoned Washington repeatedly to ask for an invitation when none was forthcoming from the US Embassy in Abuja.
The sources said the President, besides his well-known knack for travelling, had reasoned that as the leader of the biggest democracy in Africa and chairman of the African Union, he ought to have been invited for the ceremony.

But Daily Sun learnt America was disenchanted, if not frustrated, by what sources called Obasanjo’s alleged agenda for a third term in office through his spurious political reform programme.

Bush had in his inauguration speech promised hell for dictators wherever they may be in the world, saying that America during his second tenure would fight dictatorship by ensuring that democracy is planted in all corners of the earth.
The State Department, it was learnt, had vowed not to support a man who has a hidden agenda to tinker with his country’s constitution in order to remain in office.

“How can you be embarking on constitutional reforms when there is no constitutional crisis,” a source queried, pointing out that Obasanjo may intend to take the shot at the five-year single term presidency being packaged by his acolytes.

It smells to high heaven that the people who make the laws should benefit so brazenly from their self-serving and hypocrital efforts. Legitimate businessmen lose small fortunes to these parasitic northern free-loaders. Does it surprise you that they are Senators and lawmakers who purchase seized goods for a pittance, while the hard-working owners of the property are dis-possessed by theft enshrined into law? Well, you shouldn't be...at least, not if the country is Nigeria.

quote:
Lawmakers Invade Customs for Auctioned Containers, Vehicles

By Francis Ugwoke, 03.14.2005
Monday, March 14, 2005

Senators and House of Repre-sentatives members have invaded the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), headquarters in Abuja, to express interest in the purchase of cargoes being auctioned by the organisation.

The Legislators, including highly placed Presidency officials and very few influential Nigerians, have made up the bulk of beneficiaries of the auction exercise, which started during the last quarter of 2004, .

Our source said among the legislators are those who want the overtime cargoes not just for themselves, but also for relations and girlfriends.

According to the source, the Customs, Abuja Headquarters, has since the beginning of this year been witnessing visitors’ influx who come with notes from lawmakers, asking for auction vehicles and containers.

The Service recently undertook a tour of all the ports, private bonded terminals and border stations throughout the country to take account of goods that fall under overtime cargoes as part of moves to satisfy the law makers.

An importer loses his consignment to the Federal Government after 90 days of arrival in the ports without being cleared.

The Customs between 2003 and last year, recorded a good number of seizures, some of which were vehicles being smuggled into the country from the neighbouring ports.

Other seizures include containers whose owners violated government policy on pre-shipment inspection, which requires all goods coming into the country to be covered by Clean Report of Inspection (CRI), issued by inspectors in exporting country.

A good number of importers had between 2003 and 2004, brought in goods under the po-licy of Destination Inspection (DI), with the anticipation that government was going to scrap pre-shipment inspection regi-me, as it had promised about three years ago.

Customs had seized such goods, but later allowed their owners to clear them after announcing government decision to pardon the importers.

However, not many impor-ters could clear their containers, on the excuse that they could not raise enough money from their banks.

It was also gathered that despite the policy banning the importation of some items, some importers violated this guideline, a development that led the seizure of such goods by the Customs.

According to our source, such importers will have their consignments auctioned by the Customs.

Our source added that some importers whose consignments were seized have been working towards influencing the Customs management to ensure that such goods are auctioned to them.

But the Customs management has warned officers, explaining that it is unlawful, adding that it is another way of encouraging importers to violate international trade regulations.

In the same mold as Tafa Balogun, these so-called "lawmakers" are blood-sucking leeches, robbing the public without shame. I have no doubt that Igbo businessmen are the majority of the victims of these thieving hypocrits.

As I said in my last post, the Igbo businessman is the victim of these thieving, lying, hypocritical leeches who call themselves lawmakers. The following article(s?) explains my point exactly. Everybody knows the truth anyway. It's no secret that the Hausas and Fulanis(and some Yorubas) make their living by being parasites on Igbo business. They would be beggars if they couldn't steal from Igbos. Make sure you read the last sentence in this quote.

"President of Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA), Mr. Sylvester Odife, said the affected importers should have been given at least 36 months before the ban, nothing that a lot of people would be thrown into the unemployment market."

That is the goal, make Igbo economic useless now towards an end goal of enslaving the Igbo and her children to come. This is a new type of war, the effect which is suppose to leave all of us useless if we do not stop chasing crumbs from under the enemy's tables and think bigger picture. What happened that NdiIgbo cannot think anymore, and what happened that NdiIgbo has become too simple that our land is now a perfect medium for evil. People can no longer raise decent children in our land which our fore parents left for us in peace. Something must be done NOW! or we will be finished for good.

S East importers protest auction of N5b goods

By Okey Maduforo

Correspondent, Awka

The South East zone of the National Association of Nigerian Importers (NANI) has protested the auctioning of containers worth N5 billion at the eastern ports, saying it is an act meant to frustrate their members.

The Zonal Coordinator, Chief James Clark Onuchukwu, said in Onitsha that the 18,000 containers at Calabar, Onne and Port Harcourt ports were confiscated before the Federal Government ban on 41 items.

Onuchukwu said the Alhaji Abubakar Sani Presidential Taskforce on the Auction had earlier given the importers eight months to clear the goods, but due to governments inefficiency and laxity the directive was not carried out.

For government to now say the goods should be auctioned is improper. It was their fault that the eight months given were not carried out and they went to commence auctioning in seven days without prior notice. This is frustrating and points to the fact that the Igbo are once again being punished in the process, he said.

He noted that for government to ban the goods, it has to give at least three years notice within which local manufacturers would have made plans to cushion the effect of the ban.

He, however, lamented that the failure of their members to clear the goods was as a result of 300 percent increase on the tariff for goods imported into the country.

President of Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA), Mr. Sylvester Odife, said the affected importers should have been given at least 36 months before the ban, noting that a lot of people would be thrown into the unemployment market.

Odife said this would affect importers of the Igbo extraction as majority of the goods belong to them.

No trial for Balogun

Thursday, March 10, 2005 Al-Bashir vanguard

IT is in the true character of Nigerians, though with some measure of justification, to demand blood from the man-mounting frame of IGP Tafa Balogun, now starting retirement with a bowed head, after thirty years of service. But will the lord king of the Nigerian monarchy answer their prayers, his anti-corruption rhetorics not withstanding? For an answer, a reminiscence of the past is important.

Take Chris Uba, the presidential lord-son and the god-master of Anambra rigging intellectuals. Well fortified in Aso Rock, he led a police coup in that miserable state, sure not without the fore-knowledge of his protector. In a classical coup operation, he sacked the governor by abduction. While this was on, his senior foot soldier, Chuma Nzeribe, laid siege on the State House of Assembly and compelled members, under the barrel of the gun, to approve the treasonable action. Unluckily, the lord king was busy in the sky and this provided his deputy the opportunity to foil the coup. It is believed that had he been on ground, Ngige would have been an ex-governor by now. Someone whispered recently that the monarch has not forgiven the dupty for this 'original sin'.

While Nigerians were demanding for the blood of the coup plotters, a chrony was dispatched to sue the poor governor in an Enugu High Court and promptly the governor was ordered to vacate office and promptly also they withdrew his police details. It never mattered that Enugu State High Court has no jurisdiction over electoral matters in Anambra State or any other State for that matter. Indeed, disputes over election are subjects for respective State tribunals and not High Courts.

Not resting on their oars, members of the Uba gang were to plot for deadly sorties. After recruiting some urban terrorists in Onitsha, (and with NEEDS providing poverty, there are quite many around) they marched on to Awkwa and caused lots of destruction worth N45 billion, according to estimates, plus 29 innocent lives. The institutions of democracy in the State, such as the Government House, State Assembly, the judiciary and the State Radio were reduced to rubbles as if to demonstrate their hatred of and for democracy.

On the authority of the absolute monarch, Nigerians were told how the Ubas rigged the elections of 2003, in Anambra, the act of which benefitted the lord king. Remember, Uba once boasted that he was the master-mind of the victories of all elected politicians in the Southeast zone. So, it could be safely said that he applied same rigging power in all the states of the zone.

For so many obscure reasons, which we don’t want to go into here, the monarch never felt it that the gang master has done anything wrong. All he got was a one month suspension from the PDP with Aso Rock covering up his numerous crimes.

Without a mention of the case of Makanjoala and the former GMD of NNPC, who was accused, by the Fiscal Commission, of failure to account for N350 billion for each of four years, we all can deduce the direction of the monarchial mind.

Let us ask, what do the GMD and Uba have in common? Simple. Inner knowledge of happenings. This has been their main shield and protection mechanism. Because they know too much, they must be protected. It is being rumored that important matters concerning the NNPC have never been brought to the federal executive council. It has remained the exclusive province of the GMD and the petroleum minister, who is also the Nigerian monarch.

In the case of Uba, if his tongue is allowed to go loose and decides to spend a secret night in Daura, there may be serious explosions in Aso Rock. Put differently, his knowledge, of how INEC, the Police and other agencies of State produced the kind of sunslide victory in the Southeast zone will remain his armour of protection until Oputa II comes on stream post 2007 and for sure, there is palpability of this on the rock.

But what do they know more than Tafa Balogun? Consider the following: The abduction of Ngige, the destruction of Anambra, the conquest and the massive massacre of innocent citizens by the force during the elections, the failure to unravel what many hold, rightly or wrongly, as state sponsored assassinations, how the presidential election was won and such other numerous underhand deals. Balogun knows all. Mark you, it was he who crowned the monarch. Under his command, the police successfully staged a bloody coup against the ballot and democracy. If, as same reports have it, that over 300 people lost their lives in the process of executing the coup, no military coup, in our history, has witnessed such a large number of victims. Therefore, the police coup of 419/2003, against democracy, led by Balogun, remains the most bloody in our national life.

He knows the details of what happened, how it was done, who ordered it and more. He was, for all practical purposes, the king-maker and the executioner of evils.

Given these facts, who has the moral conscience to touch him without igniting fire if he wishes to. The facts at his disposal are enough to protect him from the ravages of the lord-king on whose behalf he carried out numerous atrocities against the Nigerian people and democracy. In all he did, he was authorized to play the dirty game on behalf’. He acted under orders and since this was the case, he will continue to enjoy monarchial protection unit Oputa II.

Worse things have and are being committed under this monarch than all previous administrations put together so much so that Oputa II is sure to be. Under IBB, we can only point at Dele Giwa. Abacha has Kudirat plus two others. As for Obasanjo, no less than 15, discounting the police massacre in 2003. There is no way we will run away from Oputa II post 2007 unless the monarch choses to play Kamuzu Banda but even after all things, it would still be. Back to our theme. Because of his role in the sordid happenings that diminished the nation, happenings which advanced the personal interests of the monarch, Balogun, like Uba and others, will remain to belong to the class of the untouchables and may be allowed to take the Makanjoala route. It is the way of the Monarch.
