Igbo ’ll partake in privatisation, says Offor

From Chukwuma Nwankwo, Kano

Crhome Oil Nigeria Limited Managing Director Emeka Offor, has assured that the Igbos would not be left out in the current privatisation exercise initiated by the Federal Government.

Offor said that at a meeting with Ndi Igbo in the commercial city of Kano at the weekend.

He said that although NdiIgbo appeared passive during the first phase of the exercise, the story would be different in the second phase as core Igbo Investors will come out fully to reposition themselves.

"Ndi Igbo will not stand on the fence and allow people from other part of the country to continue to control and dominate the nation economy,’ he said.

Offor, Vice-President of African Express Bank (AFEX), visited the new branch of the bank in Kano, pledging that the financial house would assist Igbo businessmen and traders to boost their businesses by giving them loans.

Speaking at the occasion, the President of Igbo Community Association (ICA) in Kano, Chief Boniface Ibekwe threw the gauntlet on Igbo leaders to always show interest in what is happening to Igbos in Kano, calling for assistance to enable the ICA execute some of its project.

Offor later made a donation of N500,000 to the Igbo community while members of his entourage donated N2 million for the building of Igbo town hall in Kano.

Senator Nnamdi Eriobuna representing Anambra South Senatorial Zone, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Anambra State, Chief Chris Imoka among others, accompanied Offor on the visit.
