I wonder why he left off the name of Garba Lawal, is this another case of not wanting to hurt the feeling of his bosses na ugwu awusa? I also noticed that he left of the names of the Southwest (Yoruba) players if their is any left since Yekini.
Maybe someone needs to remind him that any new team will still have more Biafran players. Thats just the way it is. Some things will never change.
Presidency Orders Aku to Sack Foreign Pros By Boye Ajayi
Even before the Super Eagles flop at the just concluded African Cup of Nations in Mali, Presidency has ordered the Sports and Social Development Minister, Engineer Ishaya Mark Aku to get rid of the foreign based players from the Super Eagles.
THISDAYSports checks reveal that Presidency seized the occasion of the launching of Sports Development Committtee in Abuja last year to tell the Sports Minister that it was high time he did away with the players.
"The likes of Kanu Nwankwo, Austin Okocha, Victor Ikpeba, Sunday Oliseh, Taribo West and others have had enough time in the Super Eagles squad, hence they should be allowed to face their professional carreer," a top presidency source was quoted as saying.
According to our sources the Presidency who met both the NOC Executive members and the Sports Ministry officials recently, told Aku to look inwards in sourcing for budding talents to move the country forward.
The Presidency opined that a new policy of grooming new talents who will lead the country, stands to benefit us better than clingging on to the old players always.
Wary of the urgent need to prosecute International Championship, the President believed that it was not about winning all the time, arguing "It was all about building a new team for the future."
Besides, Presidency felt that it was the only way to checkmate the over bearing influence of the so called big boys in the Super Eagles who are in the habit of holding the country to ransom.
It remains to be seen if the Sports Minister would hearken to the Presidency on the issue at stake

What a hero! So BiafraNigeria is not interested in winning. So much for investing time and money to prepare for competitions.
I'm not surprised, really, afterall BiafraNigeria fired Ozobia the head of the only Government parastatal that declared profit and could compete with the rest of the world.
quote:I recall after the Lagos final disaster against Cameroun 2 years ago, a Yoruba handle took out a page in Vangaurd Sports section to question Nwankwo Kanu's(Igbo boy) competence as a footballer. Expect to read more of that in the fallout of this present abysmal outing.

The whole plot is to smuggle Festus Onigbinde in as the coach.Monkey dey work baboon dey chop. The moment Onigbinde is annointed watch and see the composition of the team. -------------------------------------------- Under-fire Nigerian coach Amodu awaits World Cup fate LAGOS, Feb 15 (AFP) Under-fire Nigeria coach Shaibu Amodu will learn in the next few days whether he is to be entrusted with Nigeria's World Cup campaign after his team failed to reach the African Nations Cup final. Officials told AFP here Friday that the 22-man Nigeria Football Association (NFA) board could make their decision on Monday after reviewing the technical report from the tournament in Mali where the 'Super Eagles' finished third. There has been a huge public outcry following what many believed was a disappointing performance by the team. And Amodu is widely tipped to get the boot before the World Cup where Nigeria are drawn in the so-called Group of Death along with Argentina, England and Sweden. "The coach has no business leading the team to the World Cup," said Sani Toro, a former secretary-general of the NFA. "He has been too sentimental in his choice of players and has shown he is not in full control of the team." Several players including striker Victor Agali, who plays for top German club Schalke 04, have also publicly withdrawn their support for the embattled coach. "He lost control of the team in Mali because the gap between the coaches and the foreign-based pros is so small that the coaches can hardly command any respect from these players," Agali said. "The 'mafia' hijacked the team from the coach and the result is there for everyone to see now." Amodu, who will be 42 in April, replaced Dutchman Jo Bonfrere last April and went on to make history as the first Nigerian to qualify the team for the World Cup. He had earlier told AFP he would quit the high-pressure job in June after the World Cup finals. Top officials told AFP that the NFA board are most likely to decide on whether to appoint a foreign coach to boss Amodu or draft former national team coach Festus Onigbinde to the team. Onigbinde, who until recently worked for the football federation of Trinidad and Tobago, led Nigeria to the final of the 1984 Nations Cup in Ivory Coast. Nigeria fired Frenchman Philippe Troussier and replaced him with Bora Milutinovic months before the 1998 World Cup in France

Mission accomplished for the SW topguns, the first part of the media propanganda has been achieved.Out of the blues Onigbinde is annointed to coach the team after somebody else has earned the world cup qualification. Onigbinde to replace Amodu
Now to fulfill their real wish, which is to rid the Eagles of the Easterners who have dominated since Westerhoff. It is no secret that the domineering presence of the Biafran pro's has been a source of discomfort for many. When they finally go to Japan with a bunch of mediocres and get walloped the anti FIFA campaign will start ala CNN style. Some cretin will be dispatched to Zurich to protest the insult on Nigeria's democracy. Those whom the Gods will kill they say they first make mad.

Is that not shameful? At least, if someone wants to be nepotistic, they should try to disguise it. Not Obasanjo. He has to be crude about everything.

Nice one. BiafraNigeria is so shallow and predictable that you can always predict what the next move's gonna be.
Onigbendi was the first to take out a page in a "newspaper" to lambast Amodu and Okocha after the first game. Odegbami followed suit and after a while, the Presidency joined in the fray.
Shoulder to shoulder none of them has achieved as much in BiafraNigeria football as messrs Keshi and Amodu. Odegbami never qaulified for a world cup. Never. Onigbendi never won the African cup of Nations neither did he guide BiafraNigeria to a World cup. Never.
quote:Commenting on the appointment of Festus Onigbinde as Shaibu's replacement, Odegbami hopes the experience of the Caf and Fifa coaching instructor would provide the impetus for a "needed overhaul of the team".
Observe that by saying "....it is not about winning......." they've lowered the expectation level thus ensuring Onigbendi is just working to "overhaul" the team.
I chuckle at the noise they are making about Kanu and Okocha having passed their "sell-by" date. Selective memory! To think that these are the same people that vilified Kanu when he told them to try out new talents at the last Olympics. Even John Fashanu(Fash de bash) who has never kicked an orange in BiafraNigerian colours joined in the Kanu-bashing.
I'm sure Onigbendi will now get all the co-operation Amodu never got in trying to assemble his sqaud and expose them through high profile friendlies. And in case you're still wondering, Onigbendi(not Amodu) will now be the first BiafraNigerian to lead his country to the World cup. Monkey dey work, baboon dey chop.

It get's worse, Onigbinde has not coached a team in 18 years. The man was booted from the eagles coaching job after losing to Cameroun in the 1984 Nations Cup. He spent time in Trindad and Tobago as technical director (not coach or adviser) and this is the credential he brings to the table. See how low BiafraNigeria is willing to stoop for nepotistic reasons. Unfortunately for the morons, the likes Okocha, Kanu etc. are world class players and all the blackmail from the Ngbati press cannot affect their professional standing.
On Odegbami, it's just pay back time.As IICC and eagles coach Ongbinde showed Odegbami a lot of favour including fielding him when not fit. One up for the Ibadan boys.

Incase you're wondering the guy's name Oni-gbendi in Yoruba means one with pooh-pooh in his bum(LOL)
Mr Obasanjo has taken this tribalism to the "next level".

quote:football is a serious business. It grows every second, not even minutes, not even days. If you get to the website, you see how fast football is taken over other industry. So they have to be given that backup financially, the confidence, the support to be able to do the work in a relaxed environment with relaxed mind," he emphasised. "These are people who play in one of the best clubs in Europe. They can challenge anybody in Europe. They are in top form, they are so hot and why are they not able now? He queried. If you must build a team, you must build it around the old players. How come we lost one match, then these people are tired legs? Taribo West was nominated as one of the best in the championship, but before the championship he was written off. Ike Shoromu was written off and as soon as the championship resumed, Ike became the clubless goalkeeper that saved Nigeria. And after we lost to Senegal, it now became obvious again to Nigerians that Ike is not good any more," he said.

I think that the Yoruba just wanted the man to make History for their people as the first Nigerian to lead a team to World Cup finals, it has nothing to do with the man's abilities. I still hear my Yoruba friends BRAGG about Yekini as the first Nigerian to score a goal during world cup fianls.
