Uwazurike, Ojukwu and the Biafran House

Here is a second opinion.
quote:
Having listened to Ralph Uwazurike, and observed him at close range, I endeavored to assess him objectively. My assessment of him left me tugged by conflicting opinions of the man and his mission. On the one hand, he has obvious limitations that will naturally impair his leadership of any serious movement. Secondly, his reliance on nonviolent means for actualizing an independent nation of Biafra is too romantic - imaginative - an grotesque perception of reality. Moreover, I am opposed to any attempt at the dissolution of Nigeria. However, I cannot help respecting his courage, intrepidity, and an unwavering commitment to a cause, qualities that have been almost extinct amongst the Igbo for the past 30 years.
For better or for worse.

Patrick,
I pray you are wrong about your picture of the new age Igbo, otherwise the future will be bleak for anything Igbo. Why assimilate strength into weakness.See what has become of the Igbo in Gabon. If the Igbo become gypsies then flamingos will be better. I hope you are wrong !

I hope you know that the picture was painted by Tochukwu Ezukanma. I merely reported it.

This Tochukwu Ezukanma idiot has just sent the same piece of garbage that he wrote in 2001 to the Ngwati Vanguard. Today's Vanguard has vomitted the same stupid essay.

Thanks, Ogechi, for providing the above link. The same was expected of Patrick, though it is not always possible to provide one. But it is better to give people, especially those who did not read the initial article enough elements to make their judgement.

Patrick did not make clear distinction between his opinion and that of the author of the article he read. It should have been the case.

Ralph Uwazurike is right to create MASSOB in order to defend Igbo interest. After all the Yoruba have OPC. What I do not understand is the method used or how he thinks to materialize the objectives. I believe that if the SE want to materialize Biafra, it is possible without fighting or losing lives unnecessarily.

Secondly, in this 21st century any thing to be done in the name of Ndigbo has to get the people's approval. This means campaigning to inform people of our intentions and then convince them.

This applies to any Igbo organization or political party supported by Ndigbo. As from now, we should be campaigning for Igbo elections, to produce undisputed leaders and to speak with one voice. The term of office for the elected Igbo leaders could be 4 years, enabling the people to decide whether or not to keep them for another 4 year.
It means that anything to be done in the name of Ndigbo be approved by those elected leaders.

Anybody who sees an article in which Ojukwu or other Igbo leader is criticised could respond to the article or provide us the story her or in other Igbo fora for discussion. We should not leave them without saying anything.

The Tosuku chap is working for Professor wabueze from abroad. Between them, they have finally buried ohaneze. Ojukwu was the main reason progressive young Igbo attended their meetings. Now he is gone there is no more ohaneze.

Ozobu and co should now apply to the Igbo National assembly(INA) for membership.

This lousy announcement by Wabueze is the only time in living memory that Ohaneze have been decisive on issues.

Mota Ogallala,

This is purely Igbo affair. You can always participate by dropping your usual two or three lines but do not interrupt. This is a civilized forum where people debate on ideas and not on individuals. It is over to you to respect yorself if you want.

Don't be offended. All I did was ask you a question seeking an explanation which has nothing to do with your "Ibo affair."

OU,
You hit the nail by the head, according to Nwabueze, Ohanaeze could not meet for three months because of emerging confusion from the presidencial election but very quick and profund to issue statement on Dim Ojukwu and APGA, what an irony.

I was not referring to you in the first place. Why don't you mind your own business and allow me to express my right of opinion.

Mota Ogallala,
I remind you that you are not the only Yoruba on this board, if you are nigerian at all. As I have made it clear, this is essentially Igbo business. You can participate if you have anything to say but not to sow seeds of discord.

Sometimes I wonder if some members are unable to use the resources on this board. If I quoted an article and put a link to the source, how could it be unclear that the views quoted are those of the author and not mine? At the time I quoted the article in February 2000, the link worked perfectly well. Now the link has gone the way of things Nigerian. One forum member did not know that text in blue and red color on this board are links to be clicked so he could read the full story. Thus, he called the quoted text, my "picture of the new age Igbo."

Patrick,
I suppose I am one of the members you were talking about. It is a question of habit. I did not click on the text in blue, not knowing that it was a quote. And I think I was not the only one. In fact I understood it as your quote. Usually people bring up a thread because they have some comments to make on it. But since there was a quote below which you said nothing, it became confusing to me. Now, I am aware of it and will try to pay more attention next time.

Mota,

Do you feel better to call somebody tribalist? even with you're misplaced ingnorance of mis-spelling Igbo, my opinion is that you are not better than a tribalist.
