In the earlier days of the current political dispensation in BiafraNigeria, Orji Uzor Kalu practically became a hero of some sort to many in Biafraland. The young governor had then confronted the inept Aremu regime on the poor state of federal infrastructure in that part of BiafraNigeria. Kalu spoke with confidence, not only because on his part there was some credibility to what he said but also because his track record given the facelift he had given the major cities in his Abia State was good. It was indeed fulfilling to see Aba with roads after a long period of desolation and the return of security and commerce to that town was generally acknowledged by all. To Kalu’s credit this was at a time when the likes of Udenwa and Mbadinuju in the neighbouring states of Imo and Anambra, had made no impact on the lives of the citizens of their states. It was then generally acknowledged that Kalu had earned the right to become an authoritative spokesman for Ndigbo. Many then felt that this was the man that would finally rebuild the fledging confidence of his people.
Kalu continued to fascinate the grass root Igbo and other progressives who finally began to believe that there was yet hope for Ndigbo. How could anybody forget that Ohaneze meeting at Enugu where a fire spitting Kanu looked all the old men in the face and told them some home truth to delight of the youth who sang his praises all the way back to Umuahia. In no distant time however Mr.(Dr.) Kalu had become a famous turncoat and a huge source of embarrassment to those who had previously placed hope on him. He publicly denounced all that he previously stood for and embraced the type of politics too familiar with the Igbo elite (hugging the enemy while abusing your brethren). He wined and dined the queen of Aremu’s harem in the disguise of celebrating the 61st birthday of his mother while dismissing impatiently those who questioned his turncoat attitude. He retorted to anyone who cared to listen on his new turncoat attitude that he was not a warlord and had been counseled by some elders (the same old men he abused few months back) to make peace with the King of Aso rock. We all know how that advice turned out, today Mr.(dr)Kalu is in the political wilderness rejected by both sides of the political equation in Igboland.
So why the long winded lecture on Kalu’s intransigence you would ask? Well the man has returned to playing on Igbo emotions once more and despite the obvious irritation of many Ndigbo he has refused to shut up. Orji Kalu campaigns against Igbo haters
Personally I believe in only one strike for each traitor, Kalu has used up his. Ordinarily it would have been no problem ignoring this fellow but it would appear Kalu has become the proverbial mosquito that is dangerously perched on the scrotum. Leave him and he will eventually derail the Igbo cause with his turncoat deceit and if you seek to squash him you risk glorifying his even more despicable enemies led by Ojo Maduekwe to delight of the King of Aso rock.
To you Biafrans I ask what then to do with Mr.(Dr.)Kalu ?

quote:To you Biafrans I ask what then to do with Mr.(Dr.)Kalu ?
A very tricky question. The head says "use him", but the heart says, "be cautious"
Use him because he is young and industrious and is an agbero something we seem to be lacking in the BiafraNigeria political playground. After Chuba Okadigbo bowed out the Senate leadership fell to Anyim and one Mantu who boast a few GCE O' level passes in more than one sittings(Aluko has the archive). Think of Tofa, disgraced Buhari, Obasanjo, Atiku and you will see what I mean.
Orji's problem aside from his academic short-comings stems largely from the fact that we(the Biafrans) weren't privy of what we know today as we would have fenced him off destructive elements.
It is a matter of public record that Orji confessed publicly that Anambra born Mike Okonkwo who is the "Bishop" of TREM applied pressure on him to let Aremu off. Mike Okonkwo used the name of God and claimed to be speaking for the Penticostal Fellowship of Nigeria as their current President. Kalu was naive or even stupid to succumb if that was the whole story. During my last trip and session with Tunde Bakare he said that he was shocked that Mike Okonkwo had not come out to make a single comment on the way he(Bakare) was being man-handled by Aremu men. Do you get the drift?
Another factor against Orji is the "Ibo" terrorist group who would do anything to undermine a "core" Igbo from going to the "centre". They are the PhD holders who feel making Aso rock is an academic exercise of great intellectual exertion. They are the "oka nma n'ama" (their charity begins away from home) who would rate Emeka Anyaoku, Ezeife, Ekwueme etc etc above Mbakwe or Kalu.
The only aspect of Kalu's politics that could worry me is his closeness with the caliphate, but then again is it not the same closeness that has made all the rest what they are? Shagari made Ekwueme and Anyaoku and Aremu has just made Ezeife so where lies the high moral grounds? Could they say that they have brought much home? Pius okigbo is a huge loss to the Igbo nation. I say this because I have sat close to him in two occasions. He knew how to wrest stuff out for the Igbo nation regardless of who held the forte at Lagos or Abuja. He believed in economic empowerment of umu Igbo to better prepare them for their own nation. But sadly all the onwa na etili ora's , Ogbu efi's and Nna nyelu Ugo's that benefitted from his effort have only used their wealth to show the rest of us that they are better than us.
Let me conlude by saying again that your question is very difficult, but if I take the liberty to reword it to read: Between kalu and Ezeife/nwobodo/Maduekwe who will you take? , then I guess my answer lies in my preceeding postulations.
PS: Chiboy, for my sake find another insect to perch on that part of the male anatomy. Nuff said.

The only thing I could say about him however silly his inconsistencies has been, the man is outspoken and earns the title 'THE LOUD MOUTH OF THE EAST" He is practically the only visible son who speaks out loud against and for the Igbos. No other person speaks like Kalu. We need more of kalu for a start.

I have read Orji Uzor Kalu's apparent shots at Obusonjo. We will wait and watch him. We will see how consistent, sincere and how far he is willing to go this time around.
If he can checkmate Obusonjo and ensure that no Igbo blood is spilled in Abia State, indeed Biafraland/Igboland in the coming elections, then we will see what we can do.
If he would stop supporting anti MASSOB forces and in fact if he can start speaking out against MASSOB's persecution by Obusonjo and BiafraNigera, we will see what we can do.
If he can play a part in securing the release of MASSOB members jailed just for asking for self-determination for their people, then we can see what we can do.
MASSOB is a more disciplined organisation than OPC led by Carpenter Ganiyu Adams. We all know that.
MASSOB does not engage in killings, looting, rape and arson like the Ganiyu led OPC.
Yet the YORUBA politicians, even their nnukwu nmanwu like Abraham Adesanya will defend OPC.
Ganiyu will be discharged and acquitted for murder, while our folks who committed no crimes languish in Obusonjo's gulags.
Sure, we are interested in his newly found vigour. We wait. We watch. We evaluate. And we see what we can do.
We should not jump into any conclusion yet based on his past. We will analyse the present critically before the dawn of a new Orji Uzor Kalu is proclaimed, supported and sustained.

I tend to agree with your one-strike-and-you-are-out approach. If we want to follow the Ohafia postulate and unleash our own agbero on Abuja and BiafraNigeria, we should send an agbero that has not wronged us before. If we send Kalu and he ditches us again, we will not be able to forgive ourselves.
But, then again, Kalu may be able to benefit from realizing that bad things happen to those who forget why we chose them.

Ohafia Okay you can assume the insect is just a common housefly, the situation remains dicey and the question is still what do you do?
Nwokeoma My brother you have only addresed half the problem, the same situation that led to my asking the question. If we say Kalu has struck out do we now say shut up? How do you do that without playing into the hands of the Abuja cyclist? I guess Ohafia would rather live with the house fly than attempt the potentially painfull alternative.

Chiboy:
Ohafia has asked the crucial question. Put it that way, and Kalu is my man. We still have time to work on him. The cyclist is a lost cause.

Nwokema I am with you brother, the Abuja cyclist is a lost cause. Brother Ohafia as much as we need agbero for this battle, my concern is that we don't send a double agent agbero. Having said that do we bring Kalu to the fold? then mold and polish he first before sending him out. Then again we are at a cross road, we have a third in command who act more like chief house boy for Obasanjo. This are difficult question that we have to take our time to sort it all out.
Here is what Orji Uzor Kalu lists as his CV. We recently learned that Orji Kalu returned to school to earn a bachelor degree. Should we not be concerned that this man claims to have graduated from schools he never attended?
It is not difficult to verify that Orji Uzor Kalu does not have a “bachelor degree in political science from the Catholic University, United States” as claimed.

The noose is tightening around Mr. (dr} Kalu's neck. Information emanating from BiafraNigeria suggests Kalu is running from pillar to post after having made enemies on both sides. Now that the grassroot Abians have turned their back on the turncoat, let's see Aremu deliver him.

Chiboy I think Orji Kalu is still the only Southeastern Governor that still command grassroot support. Orji Kalu yes have made so many enemies in PDP, but I think that the masses are still with him based on his performance. In a free and fair election Orji kalu will be re-elected in a landslide. He was the only Southeast Governor that only voted for Ekwueme candidacy, and displayed his dislike for Obasanjo openly. I have been somewhat critical of Orji kalu in the past, however my recent visit to Umuahia and talking to people convinced me that Orji Kalu have performed well.

Give it up for Dr. Governor, Chief, Eze he will soon enroll at his State's university for a masters degree.
Ans now, The rest of the story:
quote: GOVERNOR Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia State has been offered provisional admission by the Abia State University to pursue a postgraduate programme.
According to the admission letter sent to the governor and made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Umuahia on Tuesday, the admission is for a full-time Master's degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy.
The admission, which takes effect from next academic session, the letter further stated, is for a minimum duration of 12 calendar months.
The admission letter, signed by the secretary, College of Postgraduate Studies, Mr. R.D. Oji, asked the governor to complete the acceptance of admission letter and return it with a photocopy of the admission form on payment of N3,000 non-refundable deposit. It will be recalled that the governor decided to complete his first degree programme at the university in Uturu, when criticism was rife on his academic qualification.
The governor had explained then that he could not complete his degree programme at the University of Maiduguri because of his involvement in students' union activities.
He said though he was recalled after the suspension, he refused to go back because the institution did not recall the other students involved in the union activities.
Governor Kalu said he, therefore, decided to go to the state university to complete the degree programme in Public Administration.
He also disclosed then that he would be going back to the university to pursue his postgraduate programme.
