Lawali Yakubu and Ali Jafaru, villagers in their 30s, were accused in the Islamic, or Shariah, court in the northern town of Mada of recently abandoning the Islamic faith and joining the Great Commission Movement, an international Evangelical church with a strong following in Nigeria.
Auwal Jabaka, the court judge, said Wednesday that although the Muslim holy book, or Quran, calls for the execution of Muslims who accept another religion, it was unclear whether the state's two-year-old Shariah penal code also permitted such a punishment.

Shariah is just for muslims......

This is nothing but an attempt by the north to spoil the re-election of President Obasanjo. I hope his advisers see through this obvious political trap from Buhari and co.

Nigeria's Defense Minister Says Muslims Plan to Wipe Out Christianity
Katsina State Stops Christian Religious Education
by Obed Minchakpu

ABUJA, Nigeria (Compass) -- Muslim leaders aim to eradicate Christianity in northern Nigeria, says Nigeria's Defense Minister, Lt. General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma. Danjuma told a gathering of the Northern (Nigeria) Christian Elders Forum (NOSCEF) on April 20 in Abuja, the federal capital, that Christians are now under severe pressure. He urged the Christian leaders assembled at the All Saints Anglican Church not to be intimidated.

"Our religion is under assault in our country. If Christians are not careful, there will be a time that the propagation of the teaching of Jesus Christ will become an offense," Danjuma said. "We know that we are minority in the north, but if we are not careful, we will be wiped out of existence in the north."

He said the only way out is for the church and its leaders to ensure that indigenous citizens of northern Nigeria are massively recruited into the pastoral ministry so that they can effectively reach their Muslim brothers with the gospel.

"We want full indigenization of the clergy in all the cities and the rural areas so that … when there is any religious crisis in such places, there will be people that can not run away because such have no second home."

He lamented that thousands of Christians had been killed in northern Nigeria in the past three years, and thousands of others were forced to relocate to the southern parts of the country for fear of being killed by Muslim fundamentalists.

"Many of our brothers and sisters have had cause to run away from Kano, Kaduna and Bauchi, to Jos and Abuja. But with the recent attack on them in Jos, those who could not go down south had resettled in Abuja," he observed.

He likened what is happening in northern Nigeria to what happened in Egypt and other North African countries, where he said Christianity flourished as a faith and was later wiped out by Islam.

Danjuma also told the NOSCEF attendees that the incessant attacks on Christians by Muslim fundamentalists and the implementation of the Islamic legal system by Muslim governors in northern Nigeria were just two of many strategies to wipe out Christianity in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the government of Katsina state in northern Nigeria has cancelled the teaching of Christian Religious Knowledge by removing its curriculum from all public primary and secondary schools, while making the teaching of Islamic Religious Knowledge compulsory.

An official statement issued on April 30 stated, "The government's decision was in line with its policy of tailoring programs that are in tune with the Islamic system we envisaged and can bring about rapid development."

Rt. Rev. James Kwasu, the Anglican Bishop of Katsina, told Compass that the decision is a continuation of Islamization in the state.

"It is a tactful way to curtail our religious liberty, hoist Islam on us, and ensure that Christians are eliminated from Katsina state," Kwasu said. He explained that Nigeria's national policy on education provides for the curricula of both Islamic and Christian religious studies to be taught in all schools.

Katsina state, with a population of 3.7 million people, has a minority Christian population of about 30 percent. The state is one of 12 states in northern Nigeria that has adopted and is implementing Islamic law.

Genocide Theophilus Danjuma should go and sit down.

~~Thomas Ironsi he killed was a Christian

~~The countless number of Igbo that were maimed and killed were mostly christians

~~The Tivs of Zaki Ibiam whose male population he wiped out are mostly Christians.

~~ "Brother" Yakubu Gowon is a christian and an influential Arewa chieftain.

It is very simple to conclude that the two Genocides ie Danjuma and Gowon have supervised the killing of more christians than the jihadists.

Danjuma should shut up!

In the end, they may lead Ndiigbo into war and misery sooner than the NEW BIAFRANS they are accusing of being war mongers." - Nnamdi Elekwachi-Mpuomigbo

Was General Danjuma not a member of the inner caucus of the status-quo ante which created the structures and systems he is now complaining about - Arewa Colonisation of the rest of Nigeria/Gradual Islamisation of Nigeria?

Is General Danjuma currently not part and parcel of the status-quo ante elements who have continued to sustain and perpetuate the same structures and systems they helped create in the first place?

What did they think and what do they think ONE 'unitary' NIGERIA ' was and is still all about? It is ONE NIGERIA! Remember?

It is a tragedy that General Danjuma and other powerful Christians, including General Obasanjo and others who were used by Arewa to build their ISLAMIC COLONY OF ONE UNITARY NIGERIA now seem powerless and helpless to dismantle, undo and receate/rebuild the monstrous house they designed and constructed, notwithstanding that they have executive power in Nigeria currently!

What can poor priests and powerless Christian masses do, other than probably revolt, riot and crusade. General Danjuma, the defence Minister urging Christians to war against Islam? How helpless have General Obasanjo and his Arewa lame duck stooges gotten?

We hope that those of Ndiigbo leaders and ideologues who live in the utopia of a ONE UNITARY NIGERIA in which Ndiigbo shall DOMINATE and RULE not only in Abuja, but over LAGOS and other STATES would listen to General Danjuma and learn from their mistakes. The idea that Ndiigbo or any other nation/people can suddenly transform overnight from a state of MARGINALISATION and COLONISATION straight into a state of HEGEMONY and DOMINATION of the rest of Nigeria is as short-sighted as it is fallacious, dangerous, reckless and irresponsible.

If we are not careful, by the time all this euphoria is over, we shall all be wondering what hit us. That is, if we survive our mad and reckless rush into the embrace of Arewa in one piece!

After General Danjuma's lamentation and helplessness, those Ndiigbo who still think that Regional Autonomy is not THE ONLY WAY forward, short of outright independence and war of liberation should think again!

We now hear that a Nigerian President of Igbo Extraction is the IGBO AGENDA! The only problem though in that position is that the Yoruba through General Obasanjo just had a turn and nothing changed! Or has much changed? Generals Obasanjo, Danjuma and their mob are crying, helpless to change anything! Aren't they? If given their power-base in the Nigerian status-quo, General Obasanjo and company could hardly change a thing in the house that Arewa built, what would this President of Igbo extraction be able to accomplish in the face of total Igbo powerlessness?

Some would say that an Igbo President of Nigeria is a means to an end. It would be nice, but if horses were wishes... the poor would ride, as someone said in the times of yore. Wishful thinking that is all there is to it.

Generals Obasanjo and Danjuma and their Nigerian ESTABLISHMENT bunch could not do it. Remember?

Of course, the deal that must be done with AREWA for Onye Igbo to emerge President, no one seems to talk about! We may all have to end up in turban as part of the bargain! After all, Obasanjo also did his own deals to occupy ASO ROCK. Or didn't he? Sharia has now extended to Ibadan and Owerri is under threat. Also, notwithstanding AD support, neither national conference nor restructuring happened - the house that AREWA built must have been untouchable and non-negotiable under the deal for ASO ROCK!

Those of Ndiigbo leaders and political ideologues who still argue that the Igbo Presidency is a means to an end (the end being the resolution of the problems Ndiigbo face in Nigeria) should grow up. Ndiigbo have no such bargaining power. Not after very powerful Generals Obasanjo, Danjuma and company (including the Yoruba and others behind them) could not touch Arewa's House and its structures!

Of course, an Igbo Presidency has its advantages for Ndiigbo, but these have meaning only within the status-quo ante of the existing ONE UNITARY NIGERIA. This means that any advantage Ndiigbo might gain from an Igbo Presidency would only be a temporary and passing thing. For as long as the structures of the House Built by Arewa remain untouched, the Igbo Presidency like all temporary things will come to pass, and Ndiigbo shall revert back to where they were when power shifts back as it must to those who built and imposed the current Nigerian Structures.

Okay, under an Igbo President, Ndiigbo may have more Ministers, members of boards of parastatals and government companies (if any are left intact, given that these are currently being massively auctioned by General Obasanjo), and active attempts would be made to appoint Ndiigbo into more positions in the higher echelons of the Civil Service.

Appointment of Ndiigbo into the higher echelons of the Armed Forces, Police and Security Services may only attain minimal successes here and there given the seniority culture in those institutions. Also, any attempt to massively promote Ndiigbo in those institutions would be met with resistance within those near autonomous institutions.

Infrastructure in Ala Igbo will benefit - more roads, international airport (Enugu), federal projects of all sorts will take off and be completed in Ala Igbo to balance with other parts of the federation. But these would not come easily, given the make up of the National Assembly - there would be staunch resistance against massive allocation of funds for projects in Ala Igbo, including accusations of nepotism, tribalism and sectionalism against the President. There would be talks of, and attempts at impeachment over such massive allocation. Of course, all this is predicated on the assumption that the Igbo President is one who has the guts to even attempt to equalise Ala Igbo with the level of federal infrastructure in the other parts of Nigeria.

Also, there may emerge a few more Igbo millionaires or billionaire government contractors than would have emerged otherwise under a non-Igbo President. But this aspect is uncertain given the known fact that most Igbo public officials often distance themselves from their fellow Ndiigbo in giving out contracts for fear (as they allege) of being accused of tribalism. It is part of the common mentality of most Ndiigbo leaders of being MORE NIGERIAN than the real OWNERS and CONTROLLERS of NIGERIA.

A substantial number of jobs will be created in Igboland as a flow on from the benefits of an Igbo Presidency.

But all these benefits deal with the symptoms of the problems Ndiigbo face in Nigeria. Once the Igbo Presidency ends, the root causes of these symptoms will continue to generate even more symptoms to torment Ndiigbo. As the benefits of the Igbo Presidency dry off and is not being replaced, the gains begin to wear out over time until the symptoms return fully again to haunt Ndiigbo for a few more decades in an endless cycle of symptom curing!

Ndiigbo may have the Presidency as the Yoruba had under General Obasanjo, but if the status-quo remains unchanged, Arewa keeps control of the National Assembly and the law making powers. Nearly all of the time, Ndiigbo or Yoruba can only get that which the Arewa-controlled National Assembly wants them to get, notwithstanding Obasanjo or an Igbo President. They also control the Constitution, which their leaders created and no change can occur that they have not sanctioned!

Allocation of Resources and appointments continue on the basis of number of States and Local Governments. Arewa will insist that an Igbo President aspirant gives signed WARRANTEES that the Federal Government he/she controls will never move to change the current proportion of STATES and LGAs that sustains the status-quo. Such that even if changes should occur, the proportions shall be maintained or be minimally changed.

In the end, an Igbo President will have to implement policies and laws, and sustain structures which MARGINALISE and COLONISE Ndiigbo! Did Generals Obasanjo and Danjuma have much choice? Ask them?

What about the ruling political party? The Igbo President will struggle to control the ruling party that has a Hausa-Fulani majority! Party loyalty to the President will depend on how much of Hausa-Fulani interest the President is willing and able to serve and protect. It is a LAME-DUCK President of Nigeria of Igbo extraction under the current status-quo!

It follows that Ndiigbo may pursue the Presidency as a temporary means of ameliorating the symptoms of years of marginalisation and domination. A permanent solution to, or cure for the problems Ndiigbo face in Nigeria lies elsewhere - in Regional Autonomy.
It is therefore important that Ndiigbo must sustain the bigger picture - Igbo Autonomy, while pursuing the Presidency as a temporary measure.

The current fallacy we are being fed, of Ndiigbo being in a position as of right to RULE ABUJA, LAGOS and as many OTHER NIGERIAN STATES as possible on the basis of "ONE NIGERIA" is a mad high risk game! Ndiigbo have the rights of course. But is the Igbo Presidency the Eldorado we are being promised by Ndiigbo leaders and some political ideologues? It is for you to answer that question for yourself.

Ndiigbo may gain the Presidency, but as Generals Obasanjo and Danjuma have demonstrated, it will not solve the problems they face in Nigeria, nor will it resolve Nigeria's problems.

Ndiigbo are marginalised and disadvantaged, yet they are being persecuted and massacred Nigeria-wide. When they eventually take over Nigeria as these 'ONE UNITARY NIGERIANS' amongst us would have us believe it could be 1966-1970 al over again.

May be these UNITARIST ONE NIGERIAN Igbo leaders and idealogues are actually bent on either precipitating a JIHAD to Islamise Nigeria or Civil War to force a break up of Nigeria. In the end, they may lead Ndiigbo into war and misery sooner than the NEW BIAFRANS they are accusing of being war mongers.

GENERAL DANJUMA is a UNITARY ONE NIGERIAN after all - like him, all UNITARY ONE NIGERIANS are war mongers, albeit, some of them do not know it, being seemingly ignorant. Or are they being deceitful?

Nnamdi Elekwachi-Mpuomigbo

Okwy, OU, Umu Biafra,

Please we must all remain vigilant. We will not sacrifice our body and blood again for any other interest. We just want our Biafra. We will get it without firing a shot. War criminal, murderer Danjuma cannot eat his cake and have it. OU has shown him what it is that the wind does to the chicken. Danjuman's butt is bare.

Remember our brave brothers led by Maj. Chukwuma Nzeogwu did it for the cowardly Oduduwa descendants. They turned round and teamed up with the rest of those who live on the blood and body of Ndiigbo. Each and every section of BiafraNigeria that participated in the genocide against Ndiigbo and their continued slaughter at no provocation in BiafraNigeria, must pay one way or the other.

As for Danjuma and his accomplice Obusonjo, they must have their date at Hague for Biafra, Odi, Okigwe and Zaki Biam. Our generation must see that this is done. And this shall be in record time.

Biafrans are NOT war-mongers!!!!!!!

From the post above, and what is otherwise a fine analysis by Nnamdi Elekwachi,
quote:
[ i]n the end, they may lead Ndiigbo into war and misery sooner than the NEW BIAFRANS they are accusing of being war mongers." – Nnamdi Elekwachi-Mpuomigbo
I reject and I condemn the implication, NO MATTER HOW SUBTLY MADE, that Biafrans (new or otherwise) are “war mongers" who “may lead Ndiigbo into war and misery.”

Today, Nd’Igbo are in misery and under a state of undeclared war, and the “NEW BIAFRANS” are not responsible for that state of affairs. As Elekwachi himself correctly identified, the dominant current internal and Igbo source of Igbo misery are the Igbo onya akpa eli ozu and Igbo Hausa-Fulani apologists who have reduced Igbo political essence to a mere appendage of Saduanaism.

There is no excuse to reduce or append any aspect of our Igbo identity to anything non-Igbo. From their stooge, Yakubu Gowon, to their imbecile, Sani Abacha, when the Hausa-Fulani have presented one of their own to preside over BiafraNigeria, that one has come in all his unapologetic Hausa-Fulaniness. Nd'Igbo should not send an Igbo Obasanjo to Abuja. For Obasanjo is a Yoruba, made by the North to serve the North.

If we send the right kind of Igbo to Aso Rock, there are just a few simple things that that Igbo has to do to render BiafraNigeria's local government and revenue allocation structures irrelevant to our progress; I mean progress such as one is able to speak of progress within BiafraNigeria. If we send the wrong Igbo, if we fail to stop that Igbo in Igboland, then, it does not matter whom we send because we might as well have sent another Yoruba or Hausa. That is why our immediate task is to stop the wrong person from reaching Abuja in our name.

Without prejudice to Elekwachi's suggestion that the Yoruba have not benefited substantially from Obusonjo's tenure, I would hate to be in the position, five years hence, where an Igbo has concluded his term of office at Aso Rock, and the Igbo condition had remained the same.

Once again and again, Islam has proven to the world, it is not a peaceful religion. The beheading of an American is demonstrative of a religion encrypted with satanic verses, vengance, barbarism and insecurity. Show me anyone in his right mind who is a moslem.....none.

Folks,
What is Obasanjo's stance on the on going killings in kano, by these animals who call themselves muslims. How many people will be killed before Obasanjo acts to stop these barbarians from futher destruction of innocent human lives.

What is he afraid of? He will quickly send troops to kill the innocent in the East. I pray Almighty GOD to hear the cry of your children and quicken this seperation from these evil people called muslims in the north. Father Biafra is our hope, our country, and our home.

In your word you told us not to be of equal yoke. I pray at this hour that Biafra will become a reality sooner than we can imagine, in Jesus name Amen.
