Virus Alert! Don't Open Attachments!

There's a new obnoxius virus going around that when it infects person A's machine, it apparently finds two email addresses, B and C, in A's address book and sends mail to B saying it's from C (presumably to hide who the sender is so you (the recipient) can't tell A they have a virus). But B & C might know each other since they both know A, thus one might trust the message. Don't.

Don't open attachments. It's that simple. You can open them if (a) you expected the attachment, (b) it has the right file name for what you expected, and (c) it has the right file TYPE you expected (.doc for a Word file, etc.; run away from .exe, .bat, .pif, .vbs, or anything you don't recognize; it probably is a virus).

If in doubt, ask the sender if they sent what you've got. Don't open it!

Dike:

Thanks for the warning. For some very strange reason, I received an e-mail supposedly sent by Mobolaji Aluko. With the Subject: "Questionaire." When I tried to open the message, my computer flashed a warning that the message will be quarantined because it had the "W32: Klemz Virus."

Apparently, that virus is now all over many PCs. Thank God my computer did not get infected. There is a company selling the antidote for that virus. I don't have their web address yet.

To you Yahooligans:

All the Igbo and Biafra forums at Yahoo have been completely infested with viruses. I received an e-mail to that effect this morning. Naijanet is infested too. Don't be a Yahooligan.

Another e-mail-propagated virus is on the loose. The behavior is very similar to that of the virus that Dikeanatuegwu described above. Be on the watch out and delete any suspected e-mail.
