Umuibe,
It has been a while since my last posting on this board. Business and my few months travel to Alaigbo and other parts of BiafraNigeria kept me away for awhile. I visited every capital of the so-called southeastern states and beyond. It is sad to note the terrible breakdown of law and order in our motherland.
The i dont care attitude of ndi-Igbo towards one another is very disturbing, and above all the gangster regime of Achike Udenwa in Imo state. The 419 style of running Imo state is so glaring that people are afraid to talk of the terrible suituation existing in Imo state.
Imo State civil servants have not been paid since january 02. Retired civil servants are dying in hundreds, due to the terrible suffering as a result of none payment of their retirement benefits. As a civil servant if you dare critize the 419 governor, the next day your retirement paper will be handed to you, that is if you escape being killed by his bakassi terror gang.
Half of the period i was in Imo state there was no electricity, petrol was no where to be found in the entire state. The state assembly memebers are bunch of useless men who are running around looting the state tresury, under the watchful eyes of the so called governor, and the citizens they are suppose to represent are suffering beyond any human imagination. This is why Imo state is reffered to as the most peaceful state, because everyone is a thief.
All the infrastructure built by Sam Mbakwe, has been destroyed or left to rot away, by this gangster governor of Imo state Achike Udenwa. My appeal to all of you is to please ensure that your people at home do not vote for this useless governor in 2003. The state television has been off the air for over three months and this guy does not care. He his warming up to come back in 2003. I urge people to take a trip home and see things for yourself.
The state of Imo state whose slogan is a home of hope has turned to a home of hopelessnes.
It is very sad.

Achike Udenwa's Exit : In peace OR in pieces!

Chima ndeewo!

This is what another brother from Imo state wrote. Udenwa is the worst thing that happened to Imo state. He has started to deploy some agbata ekees in USA who do his PR jobs. They are also the people he is using to siphone money from "impoverished" Imo state.

Last time I was in Owerri, I nearly cried at the state of the place. Igbo who used to boast about hygiene are now comfortable living in and with filth. They are waiting for an epidemic outbreak of some sort so that they will run to WHO and UNICEF and get some more dollars for their bulging pockets.

The only clean thing in Owerri was Achike Udenwa's very imposing and larger than life picture which greets you as you approach Owerri via the Control post near Assumpta Cathedral. After wasting three years the idiot has the cheek to write that he "is now poised to make Imo the fastest growing economy" Fastest growing economy, yeah...right!

It's been three years and more since Udenwa came to power. It is sorry to say this is the most unproductive regime ever witnessed by Imo - civil or military.

Ohafia:
Do you know that Owerri, the once middle class community looks like a refuse dump? I guess Udenwa was smart enough to hire his U.S. based cronies as a conduit to launder stolen money.

We really have a long way to go. It's too bad and painful that our U.S. educated fools would come and add insult to injury. Shame!

Well then my brothers and sister,

How do you justify fighting Aso thieves while our brothers are so heartless?

Don’t Udenwa and the rest of the so called Igbo leadership see what is going on around them? The long queues at those firetraps called petrol stations. The waste being laid to the future of humanity, killing our young ones in the pretence of crime. I wonder why the Bakassi Boys knives do not turn red whenever they approach the “honorable” governor!
I bet he knows of the electricity outages and the potholes and the hunger and the unemployment and unpaid salary etc etc. How could he not know, he is the governor isn't he?

The only reason I can think of is lack of love for himself and outright wickedness. One who does not love himself cannot extend the same to people around him/her.

But again, where is the outrage? Our people are so complacent and contended with the statuesque that they accept corruption and ineptitude as the norm. I don’t hear of any demonstration. I don’t hear of any matches to the state house. I don’t hear of any strikes. I don’t hear of any civil unrest! In a democracy these are the actions that bring about change not the in-action, the wheeling and dealing, and back talking that we Igbo are known for.

The demand for change will have to come from within Biafra, not from outside. The movement for permanent change, good change needs to be initiated from a grass root level, from the villages and towns, not from America. Make no mistake about it; all these revolutionary pretenders or American messiahs as I call them will not bring the sustainable change needed in the villages and towns of Igbo land.

Like our President like to tell the Palestinians and Israelis, it is their people that has to determine how they will leave, outsiders will not dictate their destiny for them. So you see, until the farmers, traders, laborers, teachers, etc etc. take a stance some day and say enough is enough, we want constant electricity, we want our roads clean, stop killing our children and find them something productive to occupy their lives, what brother Chima just reported will be a yearly report regardless of who the governor is!

The darkest hour in any man's life is when he sits down to plan how to get money without earning it!!!!!.
