This was a very telling story from our fellow countrymen on how a man was seen as nothing but an Igboman by this reporter. What a shame that our people allow such nonsense to be even printed.

The Story:
Man Steals Sister's GSM Phone

P.M. News (Lagos)

Posted to the web June 6, 2002

Bamidele Ogunwusi
Lagos

The timely intervention of elders on Morocco Street, Somolu Local Government prevented a lady simply called Funmi from arresting her younger brother, Yele, who she accused of stealing her Nokia GSM phone recently.

P.M.News learnt that the lady, who is a single mother, had a quarrel with her brother over an undisclosed amount of money she was said to have promised the boy who is a student of Yaba College of Technology.

It was also learnt that the sister's GSM phone went missing towards the end of the day and an attempt to locate the phone proved abortive. It was further gathered that the student in an attempt to avenge her sister's refusal to give him the promised money sold the stolen GSM phone to an Igbo man who deals in second hand electronic items in the area.

P.M.News gathered that Funmi went to report the loss of her GSM phone to the operating company, which subsequently blocked the line to prevent anybody from using the phone.

When the Igbo man could not make use of the phone which he bought for N12,000, he traced Yele's house to complain that the line had been blocked.

Unfortunately for the boy, the Igboman met the sister. She discovered later that it was her brother who stole her GSM phone and sold it to the Igbo man.

P.M.News gathered that it was while they were arguing over ownership of the phone that Yele came in. She accused him of stealing her phone and threatened to arrest him. The noise from the room attracted their neighbours who waded into the matter by retrieving the phone from the Igbo man and gave it to the owner. Yele was asked to pay back the N12,000 to the Igboman.
