The northern military establishment brought Obasanjo and made him representative of the Yoruba nation in the share of the spoil of the war effort. Hence his second- in command position to Murtala Mohammed after the change of baton with Yakubu Gowon.

Senator Kuta asks justice minister to resign From Alifa Daniel, Abuja
THE Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Bayo Ojo (SAN), was yesterday accused of committing a "constitutional blunder" for which he should resign his appointment.
According to Senator Idris Kuta, the bill which is seeking to establish a Nigerian National Commission for (UNESCO) required the concurrence of the State Houses of Assembly before it is sent to the National Assembly.

Kuta, in his contribution to the bill, observed that Ojo had railroaded the bill through state Houses of Assembly direct to the National Assembly, thereby portray his "incompetence", and for which he should resign.

ABUJA — “I WAS in my Mobile Police uniform. I flagged down the car just by the National Stadium, pretending that I wanted a ride. The car owner stopped and assisted me. Two of the guys with me sat at the back while I sat in the front. On the way (Airport Road), I told him (the Driver) I was a member of a Task Force and asked him to stop. I took him into the bush and committed (killed him). I then took his car to Sokoto to sell it before I was arrested.”

This was the shocking confession of a corporal in the Police Mobile Force, Mopol 21 Squadron, Abuja while narrating how he led a team of car snatchers to snuff out the life of a good Samaritan who offered him a ride in Abuja.

Corroborating the killing, an accomplice, Chinedu Eze, who claimed to be an employee of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at Jabi, said: “I am a driver by profession. I met Corporal Mangs through Kayode who is a friend of Mopol. On the said day, I didn’t know what the plan was. We were standing on the road with Corporal Mangs and the man in a Toyota Camry decided to stop to give the officer a ride….

According to Mbadinuju’s counsel, he told the court that Vincent Igwe lacked the locus to come to court and that the court should not only discountenance the application but also go ahead to deliver its scheduled ruling on the bail application already argued before it last week.

But Chuka Obele Chuka would not allow the magistrate to go ahead with the ruling as he said having raised the issue of jurisdiction, the court was bound to hear him and decide the fate of his application first. The development made the court change its mind and decided to hear the application. But just as Obele Chuka was about making his submission, counsel to the ex-governor rose to object while Mr Festus Keyamo, representing Anyiego, in the case intervened that the court must tread with care by ruling on the application first otherwise any appeal against its ruling would succeed.

Keyamo said even if the application by Vincent Igwe was useless, the court must rule on it and advised that the court should do that immediately. With the submission of Keyamo, the chief magistrate settled down to prepare his ruling to the chagrin of Chuka Obele Chuka who asked the court what it wanted to rule on when he had not argued his application.

The development forced the court to stand the matter down for 10 minutes to decide on what to do. But the presiding chief magistrate did not return to his seat until 40 minutes after when he dismissed the application by Chuka Obele Chuka and went ahead to deliver the scheduled ruling on the bail application.
