Ogbeh and Obasanjo attempt to hoodwink Na’Abba. Will Na’Abba fall for it?
quote:Obasanjo was said to have described the last five weeks as a sober time for him, reiterating that the experience of the last three years is a learning process. He was also said to have promised to appoint six Presidential Liaison Officers (PLOs) representing the six geo-political zones in order to enhance the Presidency, National Assembly relationship.
Obasanjo is said to be "contrite." It all sounds like mucho mojo. While it is no surprise that Obasanjo would be cowardly in dealing with a northerner, this is Na’Abba’s moment in history. He should seize it, or he will lose it forever.

I agree that Na'Abba should make sure that Obasanjo is impeached. It is too late for compromise. Such a compromise will only make him look spineless and make Obasanjo bold in the future. Na'Abba should remove him and move on.

I completely agree, Na Abba should go ahead and impeach Obasanjo, otherwise if Obasanjo survive this he will be bold to do as he please, and Obasanjo will miss read this as a mandate to do how he please.
quote:Impeachment: Obasanjo Is Changing, Says Na'Abba From Josephine Lohor in Kaduna with agency report
-------------------------------------------------
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Ghali Umar Na'Abba, yesterday said that President Olusegun Obasanjo has "changed substantially" following the impeachment notice served on him by the National Assembly.
Na'abba, who was speaking at the Arewa Media Forum at Hatal Fountain Hotel, Kaduna said, "we have succeeded in changing him substantially as the president is now afraid of violating the law".
The House had after a resign-or-be-impeached ultimatum given Obasanjo, released first 17, then later 32 constitutional breaches the president allegedly committed. The Senate also released 36 impeacheable offences against the president.
According to Na'Abba, the impeachment threat has succeeded in checking executive wrecklessness and constitutional breaches, while the president is also beginning to respect the principles of power separation.
He, however, said that in spite of the president's change in his attitude, the House has not yet contemplated dropping the impeachment move.
"It is not true that impeachment of President Obasanjo will truncate democracy in the country, rather it would strenghten it," he said.
Na'Abba should be applauded for putting obasanjo on the run.

I told you guys from the start there wasn't gonna be any impeachment. It is much ado about northing. Nigeria does not have the gut to enforce or respect the rule of law. You wonder why Lagos and Onitsha is Dutch City and the North a country within Biafranigeria. All the hoopla about 35 counts of impeachment against our Yoruba President is diminishing because "Obasanjo is changing or making some improvement". The looser is Biafranigeria most celebrated clawn, Nabba and the Arewa. The most confused are the Biafranigerians. The hopeless victim is Obasanjo.
Hail Biafra

Waypoint: In as much as I would agree with you that there was and there would never be an impeachment carried out on the hiterto loose President. Na'aba and Anyim has succeeeded in caging the once demi-god Obasanjo. What one reads this days is "I want to dialogue..." from the Ota famer who innitially dismissed the Legislators as "jokers."
Head or tail, Na'aba and co have succeeded in taking Obasanjo from where he thought he belonged (in the midst of world's democratic leaders) and put him at where he rightly belongs--out of air to Europe and America and on land in Nigeria to face Nigeria's myraid of problems. Kudos to Na'aba and Anyim!

Girl (abi na mama), That the man needed to BEG the same Northerners he tried to malign to get the impeachment dropped shows how cowardly your president is. Anyway, he is living the typical Yoruba trademark of barking (gra-gra) and running, or worse of all BEGGING when the real fight starts. We saw same drama when Abacha forced Diya to cry like a baby; when Babangida made Abiola (despite his ITT stolen wealth) to run for dear life after his Epe "declaration." Need I go on and on?
If there is anything that makes me (I guess most Igbos) to distrust the Yorubas it is because of your GENETIC COWARDICE. One would have thought that after the "joke taken too far" statement that your cowardly President would have refused ANY negotiation with the BRAVE Na'Aba and Anyim.
When you remove your typical Yoruba GRA-GRA gougle, you will see that the above duo has thought the hiterto bragging Obasanjo that he is not a military but a civilian president. No impeachment can be more effective than that.
Once again, BRAVO TO BRAVE NA'ABA AND ANYIM! SHAME ON COWARD OBASANJO!!

What role did Anyim really play? It was Na'abba that did it all.
I saw this picture in another thread. Anyim looks like he swallowed more than he can handle.

The fact of the matter is that Na'Abba is as corrupt as Obasanjo, and all the impeachment effort was designed to get Obasanjo to release more money to the Na'Abba and the fellows at the Senate. All that Shehu Shagari and Gowon did was encourage Obasanjo to do that. The national assembly got its money and the impeachment was dropped. Nigerians gained nothing.

Did you just land from Mars? Where were you when the FAt fellow sent the "arrow-head" of Obasanjo's destabilizing EVIL PERSONIFIED in the person of Nzeribe packing (or abi na running) from the senate? When you add that singular BRAVE act with that of Na'Aba then you will understand why ODE Obasanjo went BEGGING.
If he has "eaten more than he can swallow," then the question is who bore him and fed him his first food? THE ANSWERS IS: OBASANJO AND NZERIBE.

Folks, I wonder when this movie called Nigeria will come to an end? The citizens of Nigeria both educated and uneducated are so ignorant that everyone has failed to see that the picture "NIGERIA" does not fit. Not untill the three countries that make up Nigeria go their seperate ways will people from that part of the world start living as humanbeings.
The money sharing syndrom has engulfed the entire system starting from the presidency to the councilmen in local govt. While the masses are groaning under the rulership of evil men.

According to "Nigeria Today" newspaper, the following is the "controversial horse-trading that may eventually halt Obasanjo's possible impeachment."
quote: Dateline: Monday 4 November 2002
Obasanjo agrees deal to halt impeachment
Parliament has agreed to suspend the proposed impeachment proceedings against President Olusegun Obasanjo after a controversial deal was struck between the warring factions. Desperate not to be disgraced out of power, Obasanjo concurred with the lawmakers last Friday in Abuja at a meeting brokered by former president Alhaji Shehu Shagari and former dictator General Yakubu Gowon.
According to reports, besides Shagari and Gowon, the meeting was also attended by President Obasanjo, Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim and Speaker of the House of Representatives GhaliNa'Abba, among others. Gowon said in a statement at the end of the meeting that the issues raised by the legislature against the president were important and required cooperation on both sides in the interest of the country. They also succeeded in getting the recommendations accepted by the president as a condition "for the National Assembly to consider suspending all impeachment moves against the president," Gowon said.
The recommendations include the immediate suspension of the planned privatisation of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company (NSPMC); suspension of Nigerian Airways/Airwing Aerospace Limited deal; the forwarding of a supplementary bill to cover all extra budgetary expenditure and immediate implementation of the 2002 Appropriation Act with special reference to the Rural Constituency projects - these include expenditures on the National Identity Card project, grants or advances to Ondo and Akwa Ibom State Governments, payment of bonuses from the Federation Account; withdrawals from Foreign Reserves, payment of legal fees from loot recovery account; immediate implementation of the 2002 Appropriation Act with special reference to the Rural Constituency projects; forwarding of a bill to repeal the Peoples Bank Act as well as the Nigeria Industrial Development Bank (NIDB), National Economic Recovery Fund (NERFUND) and a bill establishing the Bank of Industry; a bill to repeal Family Economic Advancement Programme (FEAP), Nigerian Agricultural Cooperative and Rural Development Bank (NACRDB).
They also agreed to set up a tripartite committee comprising members from Senate, the House of Representatives and members from the executive to modify the recommendations where necessary and monitor the implementation and identify those that would be implemented immediately.
Also another committee is to be set up between the executive and parliament. This committee is expected to study these issues and work out modalities for the implementation of those issues to be agreed upon. Members of the committee from the executive are Adamu Ciroma, Jerry Gana, Kanu Agabi and Shagari Jr. From the Senate are the following members: Deputy Senate President-Ibrahim Mantu; Senate Leader- M.T. Liman; ANPP Senate Leader- Ali M. Sheriff; and AD Senate Leader- M. Akinfenwa, Senate Whip -Adewari Pepple; ANPP Senate whip- Shuaibu Lawal, AD Senate Whip; and Senator Udo Udoma.
From the House of Representatives include, Deputy Speaker- Chibudom Nwuche; House Leader- Mohammed Wakil; ANPP leader- Mohammed Kumalia; AD Leader Oladipo Olaitan; Chief Whip- Bawa Bwari; and Chairman Information Committee - Farouk Lawan. Alhaji Umaru Dikko will serve as sercretary of the committee.
Stating the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, Gowon said no need any longer for any impeachment. "The outcome of this meeting gives one great hope that these responsible leaders would be able to resolve this. It gives me great pleasure that the House (the nation) will not be rocked and the boat is not going to be rocked," he said. Gowon said that there was no time limit, but "there is this determination on both sides that it would be finished within the shortest possible time." At a meeting three weeks ago, the House of Representatives had given conditions to stop the impeachment proceeding against Obasanjo.
Last Wednesday, the Lower House resolved to meet Obasanjo on Friday as part of the on-going consultation and mediation of the two former leaders Shagari and Gowon. Since passing the impeachment motion on Aug. 13 at an emergencysession, the House had released first 17, then later 32 constitutional breaches the president allegedly committed. The Senate also released 36 impeachable offenses against the president.
It has now become a pattern for Obasanjo to make all sorts of deals to save his neck.

Hmmm!!! Obasanjo and Na’Abba have gone from impeachment to the dance floor.
There was another leader in the legislature who went dancing with Obusonjo and wife. What is his name now? Oh! I remember. His name is Chuba Okadigbo. He went dancing with Stella Obasanjo in Abuja the night his new “official residence” was opened. That was just before Obasanjo kicked him out of office, and just after he, in his drunken nonsense, proclaimed how sweet BiafraNigeria was to him.

It is good that you brought that link. I read this paragraph of the article.
quote:A Diaspora Igbo called M O Ene has since gone to the Awusa-Fulani Gamji (among other places) to try and break down Mrs. Chikwe's speech to the "mentally challenged" Igbo. What a load of trash! Considering that Mazi Ene had also reported on a favourable one-on-one with Ojo Maduekwe shortly after the latter had insulted the Igbo with his "idiotic" outburst. If Ene goes home as a Politician’s personal assistant next year, we know how he earned it! What Ene has failed to realise is that his Kema had told the Igbo in Owerri another cock and bull story in January this year. Please see Guardian of 02/02/2002 where Chikwe explained that the Imo airport could NOT be upgraded to an international airport owing to the proximity of the Port Harcourt Airport. Those in the East Coast of the USA know how close Newark, JFK, and La Guardia Int. airports are.
What part of that is Obasanjo responsible for?

What is it about you BiafraNigerians and comprehension ? Does the writer have to refer to Obasanjo in every paragraph ? If you read the whole story not just one paragraph you won't be asking that question.

Adekunle is never interested in reading the whole story, even if he admits it, no, he's only interested in cropping a qoute out of its context in order to score an irrelevant point which only he seems to understand.
How characteristically lazy!

The trouble with you Igbo people is that you think that Yoruba people should make your point for you. Who cares what that Ekechupu man said about the best president Nigeria ever had? If you don't have an international airport, the question you should be asking yourself is WHO IS THE MINISTER OF AVIATION. When you answer that question, you will know that your problem is internal. Stop blaming Obasanjo for your problems.

I am going to try very hard to take a deep breath to chill right now without placing you and your cowardice tribe in its proper place.
Let me just say this: The MINISTER OF AVIATION of the forced nations of NIGERIA is an Igbo puppet- remotely used and controlled by Obu-so-njo - her master’s voice, who is remotely used and controlled by the North, just as DIYA was used and controlled by ABACHA; just as SHONAKEN (whatever) was used and controlled by the North; just as KING DECEMO was used and controlled by the BRITISH - who ceded LAGOS to them for a pension sum of one thousand and thirty pounds per year. This happened at the same period when the KING OF BENIN and KING JAJA refused to surrender; and just as AKITOYE was used and controlled by BRITAIN who overthrew his uncle, KOSOKO.
You must be out of your mother fickle mind to think your kinsman is the expected messiah of this failed experiment called Nigeria.

I couldn't have said it any better. For the Folankes, and by extension her COWARD yoruba race, the ministries of Aviation, Transportation and others occupied by those IBO SABOTUERS (apologies DIM Ojukwu) means "Igbo people."
All, Obasanjo vs Na'Aba issue turned Anyim vs Nzeribe's when the latter as usual decided to carry the briefcase of the original target (Obasanjo). Unfortunately for Nzeribe, while he was carring the now EMPTY suitcase (Obasanjo's case), he never cared to really know how much was inside (how much trust Obasanjo had for him). So now that Obasanjo has made Nzeribe to do his errands, he has knowing the content of the suitcase decided to pay Na'Aba in CASH. Nzeribe can go with the empty suitcase I hear Obasanjo reminiscenting.
In the final analysis, the greatest loser in the whole "impeachment" debacle is non other than Nzeribe who seems not to have learnt any lessen after he was also used by Babangida against Abiola and also DUMPED.
Unlike other gods, the Igbo god is PATIENT but VENGEFUL, so you bet that same, or even worser fate awaits the Obasanjos and his band of Igbo efulefus who have INTENTIONALLY caused so much pain and anguish to the entire Igbo nation.
MY PEOPLE WILL TRIUMPH!

Biafradieharder5 Thanks for that history lesson 101 you gave to that fickled mind called Folanke. Folanke and her yorubas have a short memory, remember Abiola, Akinjide and NPN and Yoruba and Awo. Folanke get it through your thick skull the North used your Awo to starve Biafrans, which Awo became rich from, however when Awo's job was done he was used and dumped by the north.
