AAhhh: Taliban Goes East!

Where is that Chiboy now? We see as Sharia is going to Biafra and the people are becoming Alhaji Okoro, Alhaji Uche.
quote:
Many scholars, including those of Igbo extraction, have been concerned with the resurgence of militant Islam in the Sudan, Indonesia, Palestine, and in the northern states of Nigeria. An increase of academic interest in Islamism and terrorism is noticeable since the bombings of US embassies in Nairobi and Dares Salaam, of the US warship Cole, and most importantly, the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the ongoing war against terrorism. In Nigeria, in particular, while most scholarly and media attention has been focused on Christian-Muslim dialogue, Sharia and the violence it incited, very little is known about the danger lurking within Igboland: the phenomenal increase in the number of Igbo Moslems and mosques, an incredible development unknown before the Nigeria-Biafra War. This paper examines a bitter historical irony: That while Ndigbo are being religiously, ethnically and economically cleansed from the predominantly Islamic states of Nigeria, Igbo Imams, Sheiks, Alahajis, Alhajas and mosques, once few and exotic, are now a common sight in one of the most homogeneous Christian regions in Africa. It argues that the quiet, secretive but aggressive Islamization and Arabization of Alaigbo, is a clear and present danger to Igbo interests and survival
Welcome to the Islamic Republic of Biafra! admittedly, the land of Igbo Imams, Sheiks, Alahajis, Alhajas and mosques. [Razz]

Olu,

I think it has more to do with naira than anything else for the Igbos just like the Yoruba muslims but it should be a worring thing for the SouthEast. Look at the Obi of Onitsha opening his Ofala festival with a muslim prayer, some the Emir of Kano will never do with regards to christianity. This Day:
quote:

Arrangements are underway for the first anniversary of the enthronement of His Majesty, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe (Agbogidi) as the 21st Obi of Onitsha. The anniversary falls on May 14, 2003, which is also the 62nd. birthday of the Monarch. According to Igwe Achebe, the event would "be marked in a low-keyed but very purposeful manner in gratitude to God and prayers for our youths".

In a letter to his people, Igwe Achebe noted that following deep reflection and wide consultations with his Chiefs and Onitsha Constituent groups, he had decided to dedicate his first anniversary "to the cause and well being of the youths of Onitsha".

The anniversary celebration, which will span three days, will kick off on Friday, May 16, with a special Jumat in Mosques in Onitsha. This would be followed on Saturday, May 17, by a workshop on: Youth Development to be held at Ime Obi Onitsha. Special Thanksgiving Services will be held in all churches in Onitsha on Sunday, May 18. Igwe Achebe enjoined all Onitsha indigenes resident outside the town to observe the thanksgiving, wherever they may be.

Conversion by convienence. There is no originality or authentication. It is very much a religion conversion by convienence. The possibility of it's authenticity will remain largely within city limit. Ndi Igbo are republican in nature and live democratically in villages, towns and equal right with women is embbeded which is contrary to Islamic faith.
Eastern Nigeria is the home of christianity. I know Ndi Igbo to be snubs to any religion other than christianity. They view moslems, pyschologically as backward and uncivilized. There is no grace in that religion.
I will not be worried in the next 100 years, at least, not in a region where 99.9% is christian and Omenala religion. Moslems in the East will be subjected to extreme prejudice and isolation. One good thing, though, is that we have something to set fire on, as a retaliatory strike against the moslems in the north.

Hail Biafra

The Igbo, like most african nations had their own religion and belief before the arrival of the Europeans(christianity) and the Arabs(Islam).

It is a pity that some Africans fight and kill themselves for imported divisive religions. As much as Nigeria is concerned, the Igbo are the less influenced by foreign religion and soon they will be eradicated completely.

Some Nigerians are even ready to die in Iraq or fighting each other in the Universities like the Yoruba. What a pity. The more we use our brains, the less problems we have.

As Patrice Lumumba put it, "They taught you to sing the praises of their God,
And these hosannas, tuned into your sorrows,
Gave you the hope of a better world to come"
