I just received this report from MASSOB Headquaters,
quote:NIGERIA POLICE KILL 30 BIAFRAN MASSOB IN HOSPITAL
Massob/BLF wishes to bring to the notice of Nigerians and the world in general that they Nigerian Police under the Imo State C.P. has abducted and killed 30 Massob/BLF members who were been treated at FMC Owerri on various bullet wounds they sustained during the Okigwe massacre of Massob on the 29th of March.
It should be noted that the said members were under police guidance/custody at the Federal Medical Centre Owerri ever since this incident occurred.
Massob/BLF therefore wishes to demand as follows: - - That these wounded members under police custody in the hospital (FMC) Owerri) or their corpse having been killed be released to Massob. - That the leader and 44 others who have been granted bail by an Abuja high court sitting at Wuse Zone 2 on 14th May be released from police custody. - That if the above demands are not met, Massob/BLF will carry out protest/civil disturbances from 12 midnight, 28th May to 12 mid night 30th May.
Massob/BLF is calling on the international community to come and investigate these cases and save Biafra from the secret killings of Biafrans by the Nigerian government this is very important and should be done urgently to save Africa from an avoidable conflict. UN should reserve her strength and money in peace operation now and bring a lasting peace between Biafra and Nigeria.
Africa in particular and the world in general will not be ready for the refuges problem that will result in Nigeria in the event of the looming conflict.

And Obasanjo and his Yoruba tribesmen have said to themselves, "we can murder young Igbo men and women and get away with it" The record is now clear that more Igbo have been murdered by Obasanjo and the Yoruba than by Abacha, Buhari, IBB and Abubakar combined.

I have noticed that these days, even the Yoruba members of this forum simply go into ROM each time their tribesman, Obasanjo, completes yet another wave of murder in Igboland. Perhaps, they believe that by staying silent in the face of their tribesman's acts of murder, they would themselves be absolved of blame when the time comes for recompense. Nothing could be more idiotic.

You have written well my brother. If you and Ojoto will lead on this, I'll gladly lend my support and I'm sure many others will support you as well.

The police, reacting to the death of their member, kill, maim and destroy property in two Imo State communities
Oluchi Iroegbu, a 31-year-old teacher at Okochia Primary School in Mbereke community of Ehime Mbano, Imo State, woke up on Thursday, April 24 healthy, like any other person in her family.
Oluchi went to school on that fateful day. She did her job and returned home to prepare her lesson notes for the next week. She had no premonition that April 24 would be her last day on earth. She was killed later in the day during a reprisal attack on her village by lorry loads of police officers who came on a revenge mission over the killing of one police officer by youths from Umuaro village, neigbours to Umuokiri where Oluchi comes from.
The reprisal attack was devastating and brutal leading to loss of lives and property. The entire communities of Umuokiri and Umuaro are yet to recover from the shock of what happened when Newswatch visited the scene of the incident two weeks ago.
Youths of Umuaro village in the community had on Wednesday, April 23, been involved in a clash with the Nigeria police, which led to the murder of a police constable. A police source told Newswatch in Ehime Mbano on May 5 that the youths that killed the constable sought for refuge in Umuokiri, Oluchi's village. Sources said it was the armed policemen that went on reprisal attack over the killing of their colleague by the youths that shot Oluchi dead in her father's residence.
A community leader, who spoke from his hide-out but preferred not to be named, told Newswatch at Umuokiri that the armed mobile policemen arrived the community from Owerri, the state capital in four full-loaded trucks. He said the police arrested 22 persons before they resorted to indiscriminate shooting and destruction of properties. "Journalist, go round and see. Our community has been sacked by the police. The indigenes now run to the neighbouring communities for safety," he said.
Narrating her experience, Meresa, Oluchi's mother said the armed policemen found their iron gate locked when they arrived but were not prevented from entering. She said: "They shot the gate and left four bullet holes in it. The gate did not open. The police jumped in through the fence and started shooting. My daughter was shot on the chest and she died in the pool of her blood before she could be rushed to the hospital."
Newswatch was told that the killing of Oluchi was reported to the state police command, Owerri before the corpse was deposited in the mortuary but the command did not respond. When Newswatch visited the community May 5, even the compound of the traditional ruler was not left out in the destruction. Some items like television sets, video players, doors, generator, refrigerators and photographs were said to have been set ablaze by the police. The area was almost a ghost community when Newswatch visited.
Dorothy Uwazie, a 45-year-old woman who lost her husband in 1995 was also a victim. A house built for her by the community was destroyed by the police.
Rose Ejiogu, another woman whose husband was buried on the eve of April 24, the fateful day of the police attack on the community was allegedly beaten to a state of coma by the police. She was still recovering when Newswatch visited. She told Newswatch that a generator she hired to keep the wake was set ablaze along with her kitchen. According to her, "the police wanted to burn the whole house but one of the policemen said "No," Ejiogu explained.
Monday Oham, 65, a retired staff of the Imo State judiciary, is also homeless. Oham, who retired in 1995 had his only house burnt to ashes by the police on April 24. Oham, who spoke in tears said: "except the pair of shorts and shirt I was wearing before the incident, all my pension documents, bank papers, identity card and other things were destroyed. I had said I would die in my house and be buried there, now I am homeless. I am going to die in the field and be buried like a dog," he said.
Chinedu Oko, the state police public relations officer, PPRO, denied that the armed policemen visited Umuokiri village where Oluchi was shot dead. He said police did not visit any other place except Umuaro in Umunumo autonomous community where the constable was murdered on April 23. A police source said all those arrested have been released based on instruction from Tafa Balogun, the inspector-general of police. Balogun was said to have ordered the release of the arrested people after seeing the pictures of properties destroyed by the persons on Nigerian Television Authority, NTA.

This is just plain madness! How can policemen just walk into a hospital and kill helpless people?
I truly hope this case will be thoroughly investigated and the culprits brought to justice. If there is still such a thing as justice.
But wait o, if the MASSOB report is saying that these policemen were from Imo State C.P., then are they not Igbos? Even if they were following mischievous directives from Aso Rock, is it not insane to slay your own brothers?

biafra: Thanks for bringing athis another round of man-on-man inhumanity which the Obasanjo regime has been known for.
But we must move beyond that. Everyone of us who is concerned about these killings (it must not be only Igbo lives) should do as I and others have done by compiling the crimes, prsenting the dat, place and number of vintims and sending it to human rights bodies around the world.
For those who wish to follow this pro-active route, here is the email address of Human Rights Watch: http://hrw.org
If others want, they can also right organizations like Armnesty International, etc. Its time we move beyond the talking on discussion forums like this.
Mazi: Nwa Mazi Nwa Aro kwuginazu chim chim.
Ednut: Please if you dont have something reasonable to contribute to a debate as serious as this, it makes more sense to keep off. That some people are murdered in another part of Nigeria does not mean that biafra should not report one he knows.
May I remind those of you who are of the habit of quoting or reminding people of one crime to justify another that TWO WRONGS DOESN'T MAKE ONE CRIME RIGHT. So its time we all join hands and heads to rid our society of these primitivity, no matter if you agree or disagree with the cause/s of those who fall victim to such abuses.

ProperNaijaMan, na wa for you oOO. Which Kain proper naija man you be? Don't you know that Biafranigeria police post Igbo policemen to the North or west and vice versa. Especially officers. This has been the case for years now way before the obj debacle.
Anytime there are disturbances in the east listen to the name of the officers interviewed by the newspapers in east.

All, I believe that the Igbo can defend and protect themselves alone if we are organized. The only effective way of achieving the organization is through communication aimed at convincing everybody of our proposal, followed by a poll that would decide whether or not to adopt that solution/proposal.
However, as I have proposed concerning Ohanaeze, we should all endeavour to support any decision made by the majority of the Igbo through polling, whether the idea pleases us or not. That is what I call Igbo charter, and this is equally how democratic representation functions. We must have a way of asking Ndigbo for their support on any important issues: a referendum. For those outside Nigeria, it could be done using the internet.
While doing all we can to make sure that no Igbo blood is spilt anywhere on this planet, likewise any other human being, we should try to have a real debate on the activities of MASSOB. I would have preferred the discussion in an Igbo-only environment, not because there is something to hide but to avoid some unnecessary interruptions from non-Igbo as we can witness above. The second reason is for us to make constructive criticism regarding any issues, without others using then against us, but former is the most important reason.
I sent a PM to a member of this forum(name withdrawn), but I have not yet got a reply. As much as I am concerned, every Igbo is a member of MASSOB, and for us to make progress, every Igbo, including the children should be able to say what the Igbo want and how they intend to achieve the objectives. The discussion should be open. It is the only way forward. Of course, the above is just a point of view, open for criticism, modification, etc. Cheers!
