Don't Employ Israeli Security, NCP Tells Obasanjo
By Chris Anucha

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

quote:
The National Conscience Party (NCP) has criticised plans by the Federal Government to involve foreign intelligence agencies in the inauguration ceremony of President Olusegun Obasanjo tomorrow.

The party, in a statement by its national general secretary, Mr. Femi Aborisade, and made available to THISDAY, said the plan to employ foreign intelligence agencies, particularly the Israeli intelligence agents, to provide security for Obasanjo, was unpatriotic.

It said it was also a violation of the sovereignty of Nigeria and the 1999 Constitution.

The party said in normal society, involving foreign security agencies in the internal affairs of the country was capable of provoking mass demonstration, which could lead to the immediate resignation or impeachment of the president.

NCP said Section 315(5)(c) of the 1999 Constitution specifically recognised Cap. 278, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990 as an existing law.

Obasanjo knows that the SE, the majority of the North and some SW( read the article on Afenifere's statement in today's thisday) are for the cancellation of the elections and against the swearing-in of Obsanjo. If Obasanjo does not listen, then other political leaders can equally declare themselves presidents, Obasanjo is not more legitimate than them.

If Obasanjo goes abroad for medical treatments(fear of Odi medical practitioners), like most dictators and cannot trust Nigerians for his security, with Yoruba IG, then I do not know how he counts to stay in power for four years.
Those who advise Obasanjo do not wish Nigeria well.
