APGA threatens to form alternative govt

*Obasanjo not qualified to contest – Ojukwu

By Henry Omunu & Kemi Ogedengbe

quote:
National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Chekwas Okorie, has declared that the party would constitute an alternative government at the federal and state levels to act as an effective opposition to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking yesterday at a ceremony in Abuja to mark the party’s first anniversary, Chief Okorie said the party would take this action if it loses its legal action presently before the Supreme Court challenging the validity of the general elections conducted by INEC.

The party’s suit at the apex court is premised on the Court of Appeal’s ruling on the Electoral Act 2002, with the party saying that consequent upon the ruling, it was legally wrong for INEC to have conducted the April elections on the basis of a non-existing law.

Commercial activities in Lagos metropolis was on Wednesday crippled as students of tertiary institutions trooped to the major roads protesting the fuel price increase announced last Friday by the federal government.

The students in their thousands along Ikorodu road prevented any vehicular movement as they chanted war songs and carried placards with various screaming head lines.

Some hoodlums had to mingle with the students to loot and harass shop owners who had opened for business

It is time Nigerians

O reclaim their country from foreign power

O make their votes count

O take over all the public technical projects in the country

O repair the refineries and give Nigerians low cost fuel

O demand single currency for the coalition of willing African countries

O organize SNC

O etc
