The phones in the Igbo communities rang off the hook yesterday over a report that a US-based Anambra group is being investigated by US authorities. As a bunch of Igbo people gather in Nashville Tenessee for WIC, it is a good time to look at the role that Igbo organizations in Diaspora play in the continued impoverishment of Igboland. Obasanjo and his people are said to beleive that WIC was fully consulted before the coup in Anambra State, and Uba is now in the US to challenge WIC for pretending to be an innocent bystander in the whole mess.
The case of ASA-USA reported at BNW yesterday is only one example of Igbo groups abroad supporting corrupt politicians back home. I had been wondering why ASA-USA became the main lobbying group for Ngige. Now we know. The truth is slowly coming out. I am happy that BNW brought the dealings of ASA-USA into the open.
My concern is that if the Diaspora Igbo groups become co-opted in the schemes and dealings back home, there will be no hope for our people. We have seen what happened to Ohanaeze after Obasanjo and the Hausa-Fulani infiltrated it. What can we do to stop Igbo groups abroad from being used against our people?

I read the pathetic damage control from Jimmy Asiegbu and his cronies in response to Nnamdi's post on the Nd'Igbo-Forum.
The fool Jimmy is threatening a law suit against BNW and the reporter. What he does not know is that he is digging himself deeper and deeper into more trouble.
Here is someone who should have sense to consult counsel and shut up, but he is in the forum responding the a potential case that might land him in jail.
There is an old Igbo adage that says "Onwu gbube nwa nkita odi anu isi nsi" that is what is happening to Jimmy.

The struggle for the soul of Igboland has started. On one side, we have misguided Igbo men and women belonging to organized saboteir groups like WIC, ASA-USA, etc., inspired and funded from outside by external enemies of Nd'Igbo. On the other side, we have a growing number Igbo sons, including some who are members of those saboteur groups. The anger is boiling over even among some in the organized sabo outfits. I thought I should bring this to everyone's attention,
quote: THE NEED FOR COUP D'ETAT IN IGBOLAND HEADS MUST ROLL TO CLEANSE ALA-IGBO
The postings in both the World Igbo Congress and Igbo forum indicate that there is really no game plan to achieve anything in Nashville, that will radically transform the goings-on in Ala-Igbo.
I can present a position paper if there is a need for one!
Five major issues will make or break WIC after the Nashville convention:
1. The credibility of elected officials 2. The Igbo agenda for 2007 3. The restructuring of Ohaneze 4. The economic base for the operations of WIC 5. The stand of political leadership on economic sabotage and taboos in Ala-Igbo
I am only going to comment on the fifth issue. I had commented on the First, second, and third.
HEADS MUST ROLL SO THAT ALA-IGBO WILL BE SANITIZED AND LIVES PRESERVED
The Ngige saga was a lunatic plan put into effect. Chris uba seems absurd, even comical in places. His program of ultra-greed, abduction, murder, blackmail, and fascistic disdain for democracy and human rights, seems to caricature itself as he invokes legal tangos and connection to the presidency. And presently it is being rumoured that that Ngige is in America. WIC leadership should verify this and go after him. This is what committed leaders of Igbo people should be doing.
Inescapeably, the devastating consequences of a lasting disregard of the peoples welfare is complete degeneration. Today our political bourgeoisie strive to go the same road, and they will end up at the same goal. This is terrible and very unpleasant. citizens turn blind eyes to "political and economic taboos" and many live hypocritical lives, while others are waiting for a "messiah" from a pack of thieves. In all cases where the fulfillment of apparently impossible demands or tasks are involved, the whole attention of Ndi-igbo, as a people must be focussed and concentrated on this one question - WHO CAN MUSTER THE COURAGE TO BEGIN THE HOUSE CLEANING - as though life and death actually depended on its solution!
One of the worst symptoms of political decay in Igboland of modern Nigerian state is the increasing habit of doing things by halves. They know the thieves and yet the thieves remain untouchables and sacred cows. this has always been a consequence of uncertainty on some matters, and of cowardice, resulting from this and other grounds. This disease is further being promoted by half-education of larger masses and over-intellectualization of serious political and economic issues.
Jim Nwobodo and Chimaroke Nnamani held Enugu state to ransom. Lives were lost from 1999 to 2003. Emeka Offor and Chinweoke Mbadinuju held Anambra state to ransom from 1999 to 2003. Lives were lost. In all these cases, entire economic base was distabilized.
And because the coward majority, ostentatiously called the citizens did not question their brazen brigandry and theft of state treasury, NGIGE AND UBA decided to relocate the treaury and finance of Anambra state into their bedrooms. To me, they should be shot publicly, or if the law interferes, they should be lynched privately - whichever way, they do not deserve to be alive in Igboland or elsewhere!
When will Ndi-Igbo start cleaning house if not now. Armed robbers are given chieftancy titles and heralded as political godfathers. ALU EMEEE ..NA ALA-IGBO! Muderers are entrusted with the custody of lives and property in Igboland.
The federal government, because of its slowness of actions, and ambiguity in pronouncements created the most incredible confusion; they were picked up at once, and with amazing rapidity became the "leitmotiv" of all the political quacks and the big-mouthed, that since the fourth republic Fate has let loose on nigeria in the capacity of "statesmen".
This non-sense was poured forth at a moment when Ndi-igbo was bringing back the curriculum of her schools to humanistic foundations in politics and economics, in order to combat the error that the Igbo nation and the nigerian state owed their survival to economics and not to eternal ideal values. The Igbo nation has ideal values. The Igbo nation still has ideal values. they abhored taboos, which included theft, armed robbery, adultary, etc. And now, rogues are governors, and murderers are jurors!! Chineke .... Alu bu alu!
Now the abrupt alternation between rich and poor becomes really apparent. Abundance and poverty live so close together that the saddest consequences could and inevitably did arise. poverty and frequent unemployment leaving behind a memory of discontent and embiterment. The conviction that "it can't go on like this much longer" has become general, yet without people having or being able to have any definite idea of what ought to have been done.
THE BIG QUESTION IS: WHO WILL HAVE THE GUTS TO CHALLENGE THE STATUS QUO IN IGBOLAND AND PROVIDE NEEDED POLITICAL LEADERSHIP?
How I wish Chief Ojukwu had not gone into partisan politics. If he had remained EZE IGBO GBURU GBURU, and custodian of the igbo nation, despite his personal short-comings, every Igbo man, with "okra sprout", would have fallen behind him, to cleanse Ala-Igbo. It is unfortunate, this kind of distateful display of greed has happened twice in quick succession in Ikemba's state of origin. Time for stock taking!
Ndi-Igbo have to appreciate that Ala-Igbo is not a mere body of traders; it is a body of free men and women. Our greatness is built upon our freedom - which is moral, not material. We have a great ardor for gain; but we also have a deep passion for the rights of man. greedy politicians should not enslave us.
Only in this way will Ndi-Igbo be made willing and able to perform great tasks and exertions to sanitize Igbolans!
The Igbos did not learn anything from the civil war, except complain about marginalization; when in reality it is Ndi-Igbo marginalizing Ndi-Igbo through their excess greed and leadership betrayals.
Heads should roll to sanitize Ala-Igbo!
UDO DILI UNU !
DR. IFEANYI G. UDIBE ATLANTA
Note: I thought I had posted my last article until I come back from Nigeria. I just needed to post this before some people start inviting the likes of Chris Uba to the congress to insult the sensibilities of well meaning Umu Igbo.
The internal struggle has started.

First of all, those groups have nothing to do with Ndi Igbo so I am not disappointed with their actions. If you go back to the history of most Igbo groups in diaspora, you will find that they have been formed at the instigation of either an Igbo efulefu (Iwuanyanwu and WIC) or at the instigation of our oppressors (Obasanjo and PNF) to stiffle the growth of a true Igbo organisation. This is often followed by the attraction of unsuspecting Ndi Igbo to these organisations. Some of these people join these organisations because they truely believe that their actions will do good for Ndi Igbo. However, come election time, these individuals who are not part of the scam are kept from becoming officials often by crooked means.
You must be familiar with the case of a certain man who promised the powers that be that he was going to control an Igbo diaspora organisation in U.S, but after a series of election losses, it dawned on him that the only way he could achieve this was via his own organisation, which duly formed.
So bros, do not be decieved, a lot of these organisations are actually very effecient, it is just that their aims and what we expect of them are totally different.

I am ashamed of ASA-USA and Jimmy Asiegbu. Those two names now conjur up images of 419. I don't understand why we here abroad needed to be dragged into the Ngige camp the way Jimmy Asiegbu did. Anambra is now destroyed at home and abroad. Thanks to Jimmy Asiegbu and Chris Ngige.

What we need is Igbo elections in alaigbo, to elect every four years, people to represent us. These people must live in BiafraNigeria.
That would permit umuigbo to judge them at the end of their four-year term, with the possibility of removing them if they are not delivering on their promises.
Anybody, either in BiafraNigeria or in diaspora who is not chosen through fair and free Igbo elections is no igbo leader because them have no legitimacy.

My proposal is what happens in most democratic countries. If course it is not perfect, but it is the best we have today. Most importantly it will solve the problem of disunity among Ndigbo.
At least anybody who fails to deliver will not come back.

Here is the latest insult from Jimmy Asiegbu and his jokers.
quote:PRESS RELEASE
ANAMBRA INDIGENES IN U.S.A. APPEAL TO PRESIDENT OBASANJO AND CHRIS UBA TO STOP DESTABILIZING ANAMBRA STATE
We, of the Anambra State Association in the U.S.A (ASA-USA), and the entire community of Anambra State indigenes living in the United States, hereby register our extreme outrage and indignation over the continuing rounds of one political crisis after another that have befallen our beloved Anambra State in recent times. We find it increasingly unbearable and difficult to remain silent while our State is literally on fire -- set, apparently, and/or, at least, continuously fanned, aided and abetted, by just a few politically well-connected, corrupt, selfish, powerful political figures, from inside and outside Anambra State.
In its latest round, at least, the mischief and nefarious acts of destabilization against the people and state of Anambra, dates back to the manner of the conduct of the elections by the PDP-controlled INEC in early 2003. That is, with the general feeling of disgust and disappointment that followed among the masses of Anambra voters and citizens that the elections were massively rigged and the true choices of the people thwarted to make way, in stead, for the preferred choices of forces and interests external to Anambra State, thereby plunging Anambra State into the first among the series of political crisis that have rocked Anambra again and again in this 2003. However, whatever is the truth, as believers in the true democratic way and strict adherence to the use of the legal process, we have remained content to let the elections tribunals and the competent Courts of the land sort out the truth and ultimately make the determination on that issue.
From our present perspective, of far more ominous immediate import for the political progress and stability of Anambra State and its sustained economic development and social well-being, has been the unceasing wave of one political crisis after another that have rocked the state since the post-2003 election period. That wave of crisis came to a climax when, on July 10th of this year, a detachment of heavily armed mobile police men led by an Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of police, treasonably abducted the sitting governor of the State, Chris Ngige, only to be saved and returned to power hours later by the Vice President, Alhaji Atiku.
FACTS: 1. Without question, the all-pervasive, central figure in each and every single facet of the political crises in which Anambra State has been embroiled in throughout this year, has been none other than a Chief Chris Uba, an admitted professional political "godfather" operative of the state. He is aided by a handful of lesser men, mostly a few momentary political officeholders and PDP operatives under his tutelage, who take their cue and directives from him, such as Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu, the PDP National Vice Chairman, Eastern zone.. And, unquestionably, Chris Uba (and his cohorts) has been the most egregious and brazen player among them all, clearly the least respectful of any rules or the law, or of the duly constituted civil authorities of the State. In consequence, it is not at all surprising that Chris Chris Uba (and the group he leads) have, in fact, become the principal, single, most critical destabilizing force and factor in Anambra State today.
2. It is particularly disheartening that the long-standing political crisis in Anambra State seems to be engineered and teleguided, and, perhaps, financed and deliberately directed, by major political forces and powers located outside Anambra State.
3. In this regard, we are impelled to note that one substantial major suspect, whose name has consistently been mentioned by many credible voices as the essential link and mastermind in that whole problem, is our President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. Most recently, in the December 1st, 2003 interview on a "Presidential Media Chat" program on the Nigeria Television Authority reported in the Nigerian Daily Champion, President Obasanjo, when confronted with the allegation, reportedly denied having had any hand in the creation or the fuelling of the crisis, either in a "subterranean manner" or any other way, stating that he could not have been trying to manipulate or dictate to the government of Gov. Chris Ngige because, he said, he could not even make the governor of his own State, Ogun, do his bidding, let alone Anambra. Obasanjo then added that the on-going political crisis emanating from the estrangement of Gov. Chris Ngige and Mr. Chris Uba over Uba's alleged role in the abduction of Ngige, is "a party affair and responsibility of the PDP to settle it."
MR. PRESIDENT, Sir, with all due respect, we find the above position by you extremely difficult to believe, perhaps even impossible.
FIRST: By what measure is it that the kidnapping of a State governor from his office and taking him away (including allegations of physically striking and brutalizing the governor, and stepping all over both his person and the office, and the grave implications of extortion and even treason), a matter of "party affairs" needing only to be settled administratively and internally within the PDP -- rather than a criminal (or even a civil) matter for the Courts and the legal apparatus of the land to handle?
SECOND: Why is it that to date, some 5 months after the event, Mr. Chris Uba has not been arrested and prosecuted after the horrendous infamy of July 10th and the public humiliation and slap on the face against the Anambra people by a lone Chris Uba? And why is it that not even a single soul connected with the infamy has ever been arrested ?
THIRD: As the supreme law enforcement officer of the Country and the ultimate boss of the Nigeria police establishment, why is it that to this day, not even the principal civil servant implicated in the July 10th infamy who was an officer sworn to uphold the law, namely the Assistant Inspector-General of Police Raphael Ige, has been arrested and prosecuted in the matter? If for nothing else, at the very least for his having supposedly acted single-handedly in the abduction saga without superior orders, as has been officially claimed by the Police and the Presidency?
FOURTH: Why do you continue to give Chief Chris Uba and those implicated in the July 10th affair, and other figures similarly discredited by the people of Anambra, such as the former governor of the State, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, blanket aid, protection and shelter, from complying with the normal laws of the land like every other citizen in Anambra State, by heavily arming them and providing them with lorry loads of armed mobile police at the federal expense? It is precisely this formidable personal army that Chris Uba now employs with frequent impunity to intimidate and terrorize the Anambra citizens and to lord it over them, including even the governor.
FIFTH: On what basis, Mr. President, is a private individual in a supposed "democracy," who has not been elected to any function or entrusted with any responsibility by the people of Anambra State or Nigeria, so important as to merit the exclusive devotion of the huge resources and manpower of a government-provided private army of some 20, 30, 40 or so armed police force and turned loose in a society? What public function of any significance does Chief Chris Uba provide to Anambra State or Nigeria that entitles him such massive army of police orderlies? Or, which one does he provide to Anambra State or Nigeria greater than those provided by the truly deserving elected or appointed public officials, who, nevertheless, get only a handful of police men to protect them? Of late, for instance, are national servants like the late Bola Ige, the duly appointed Attorney-General and Minister of Justice of Nigeria, who only had a handful of (some 3 or 4) police orderlies, or the late Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, the former Senate President and Number 3 man in Nigeria, who died with absolutely ZERO Police protection!
SIXTH: Mr. President, unquestionably, by any manner of objective measurement employed, on NO score could Mr. Chris Uba be even remotely called a person beloved by Anambra people or one considered by them as a friend of Anambra who puts the primary or the very best interests of Anambra people first. In deed, even in Uba's hometown of Uga, he is hardly liked or viewed in good light! Assuming that as the President, as well, of Anambra people, what you want for Anambra people is what is best for them, why then, do you even entertain, in any Anambra State matters, such a man who represents so little about the people's aspirations, or continue to cater to his self-absorbed, personal interest, even as the vast majority of Anambra people and the leadership (from the governor, to the legislative house, the chiefs, elders and the general public) register their protestations in various forms and cry out for a redress?
SEVENTH: Why is it, Mr. President, that it is ONLY in Anambra State, of all the 36 States, that you seem not to have any problem, at least by your practical deeds and attitude rather than by your utterances, with effectively having TWO governors operating at the same time -- the official one duly elected by the people, named Dr. Chris Ngige, and the unofficial one, named Chief Chris Uba, who is unelected by any one but is empowered by the federal government and foisted on Anambra people, nevertheless, and effectively operating as a co-governor?
EIGHT: Mr. President, with all due respect, could we ask: are you corrupt? We are impelled to ask this in that we have had to wonder, by your deeds and posture vis-Ã -vis Chief Chris Uba and Anambra State, whether there's any truth to the allegation that the reason you've gone to such extreme length to shield and protect Chris Uba, is because you have a financial stake in the State's share of the federal allocations which Chief Chris Uba has been alleged to be pocketing through ISPO's and unfulfilled contract awards for years? Further, what do you have to say, Mr. President, about the rumor that you are also protecting Chris Uba because you really cannot afford not to, for the reason that he is allegedly representing your interest in some Oil business deal involving some other high government officials?
NINE: Mr. President, it is of immense interest for us to know from you why, it appears, Aso Rock must have a say in who governs Anambra State? Is the continued imposition and installation of corrupt officials and persons on Anambra State, and of meddling in the affairs of the State by your office, to be read as a continuation of the Nigeria Civil War against the Igbos? What is it that the people of Anambra State did to you to warrant that they must continue to suffer, and to endure hardship and unending crisis, though they are supposed to be, as well, full-fledged Nigerian "citizens" like others?
PLEA TO MR. PRESIDENT Mr. President, Sir, may we respectfully ask: are the people of Anambra State, Nigerians, too? And is Anambra State a Nigerian State, like every other State? Are we entitled to the same rights and privileges and protections, and respect for our own primary needs and sensitivities, that are accorded every other state and their citizens, say in the Hausa land or Yoruba land, and generally expected by citizens of those states from the federal government? We are mindful of your denials and your public positions. But, respectfully, Sir, what are we to make of these simple objective facts and realities "on the ground"? Facts such as that Anambra State is the state with the worst Federal roads and infrastructure in all 36 states, and you begin to wonder whether the sentiment which has often been voiced by many that you, Mr. President, are inherently an "Igbo hater," just that you hate Anambra State even more as the prime embodiment of the Ibos, may not really be actually true?
As our President, Sir, we'd like to give you the benefit of doubt. Mr. President, even if, as you contend, you have no hand in the ongoing crisis faced by Anambra State, YOU HAVE IN YOUR HANDS THE SURE-FIRE TOOLS AND ABILITY TO RESOLVE IT ALMOST OVERNIGHT.
FIRST: Mr. President, we firmly believe that Mr. Chris Uba (and the group he leads) are, in fact, the principal, single, most critical destabilizing force and factor in Anambra State today, the major factor today for the unending wave of political crisis in the State. In consequence, we strongly urge you to effect the immediate withdrawal of the massive police force you've provided to Chief Chris Uba and his likes. Chris Uba's armada of armed police force, often complete with blasting sirens, bullhorn commandment of the public by his team, and a procession of high speed, heavy duty vehicles, has only served to destabilize the State and to mock and undermine the authority of our Governor, casting Chris Uba as the protected, untouchable and supreme power in the State who is above the law. This, in a supposed democratic country!
SECOND: To call Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu to Order to explain to the nation and the World the basis for this statement he made at the aborted PDP Congress at Enugu reported by Thisday Publication “He said that if he had met governor Ngige when he returned: "it was to be force for force.. he is lucky we did not encounter him, if we had encountered him, we would have picked him and delivered him to Mr. President."
THIRD: Effect immediate interrogation, arrest and prosecution of Chief Chris Uba, the AIG Raphael Ige, and all others involved in the July 10th criminal abduction act, and let the judicial process of the country, and not the Presidency, determine the guilt or innocence of persons credibly accused of serious crimes in a supposed "democracy." This is crucial so as to set a permanent precedent of public respect for our State, respect for law and order, and for duly constituted authority not only in Anambra State, but also in the whole Nigeria.
FORTH: Stop any pressures on your part, or on the part of the PDP, upon the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Chris Ngige, to compel, or even to persuade him, to "reconcile" with Mr. Chris Uba and the actors in the July 10th saga. Sir, we the Anambra people, view this issue simply as a criminal issue; hence, it should be handled through the appropriate channels, which are the courts. Here again, we urge that the wishes of the people of Anambra State ought to be respected and honored, to the end that the cause of justice shall be properly served in this matter, without fear or favor or special dispensation for some protected, sacred cows, or, the perception thereof.
APPEAL TO CHIEF CHRIS UBA & CO. With all cordiality and regard to you, we call upon you, Chief Chris Uba, to cease and desist immediately from engaging further in any acts and conduct which will engender or contribute to the continued political terrorizing and traumatization of Anambra people, and the destabilization of the apparatus of government in Anambra State. Acts such as the employment of armed mobile police to intimidate and trample upon the rights of Anambra people and the authorities, and to flout the laws and rules of our State dealing with the use of sirens in a personal motorcade, or having your motorcade challenging and competing with the State governor's entourage on the road on who should have the right of way, or forcibly crashing yourself and your armed mobile police into peoples' functions, as you alleged to have done in places like Nnewi, Onitsha, et cetera..
We are also appealing to you to be a true son of the soil and use your high political connections and wealth, to help develop Anambra State and alleviate the sufferings of Anambra people which has gone on for far too long. Anything short of this, will lead to a gradual, but certain, self-destruction. We hope that reason will prevail with you. We refer you to one of our Igbo proverb which states in translation, "one single man within the Igbo clan we call 'umunna,' cannot be greater than the whole umunna." NOR BE ALLOWED TO BE!
APPEAL TO THE PEOPLE OF ANAMBRA STATE We urge the good, enduring, patient people of Anambra State to remain calm and patient. But, we ask that you begin to be prepared, ready and available for a massive, mass action we must organize and embark upon in the event we see no tangible response to our request, or prompt alleviation of our problem by the President, or by Mr. Chris Uba and his cohorts, in their acts of destabilization and political crisis against our long-suffering State and people.
We must begin NOW to prepare to organize and mobilize ourselves and our people (if it should become necessary) to flood the streets and public places of the State and the Country with people, to conduct a campaign of acts of massive civil disobedience, public protests, the recent Republic of Georgia style, the likes of which have never been seen in the whole of Nigeria, until we get our desired human rights, and justice and freedom. We must begin now to stock up and be prepared, if we must, for acts of work stoppages, traffic blockades and stoppages, strikes, sit-ins at key public offices and places (at PDP offices, the homes of Chief Chris Uba and other like persons at Uga, Awka, Enugu, New York, Washington, London, and elsewhere), and for demonstrations against our tormentors and any others who prove themselves to be the enemies or destabilizers of our State. If we must do it, it must be massive, it must be all out, it must be sustained, the Seattle Washington or the Republic of Georgia style model -- until the objectives are in hand. We say that all of us, our chiefs, our elders, youths, high school/university students, business men, school pupil, workers, trade unions, market men and women, men and women groups, hospital staffs, professionals, and everybody, must be involved. As will all Igbo people and organizations everywhere worldwide, from the Ohaneze to the World Igbo Congress, etc. As will all of our fellow brothers and sisters in Igbo land, from Abia to Ebonyi, to Enugu and Imo, Delta and Beyelsa. As will all domestic and international NGOs, political rights, human and peoples' rights groups, organizations, and institutions world-wide. and others. It is time to Take back our State, and that We Must Do. To stop Chris Ubah and his cohorts is a task that has to be done by one or all Anambrarians. Our life and future depends on it.
OUR RESOLVE That the Igbo people, that the people of Anambra State, be accorded their fundamental human and peoples' rights and entitlements, equal justice, equity and fair play, under the Nigerian Constitution, and under the Geneva Conventions, the Rome Statute, the African Convention on Human Rights, etc; that the people of Anambra State (and the Igbo land) be freed and left alone, allowed their right of self-determination as to who governs them. And, to be allowed to achieve this through all peaceful means. But, if made otherwise impossible for us, then to seek relief through other legitimate means necessary; through the court of world public opinion; through appeal to the Transparency International, the United Nations, the African Union, the Congress of the United States of America; perhaps, action in the judicial court of the United States, etc.
WE ARE HOPING, AND PRAYING THAT WE SHALL NOT BE PUSHED INTO EXPLOITING THESE AND OTHER MEASURES TO FREE OUR STATE FROM THESE CHOKEHOLDS. Signed:
Prince Jimmy E. Asiegbu Dr. Chris Ulasi Dr. Benjamin Anosike Jerome Obinabo National President Secretary Parliamentarian Publicity
