2004: First Post War International Conference on Biafra

Biafrans:

This is the open forum aspect of what will be a long discussion leading to the first post-war International Conference on Biafra, to be held in the year 2004. BLM is pleased that the Coalition of Igbo and Biafran Organizations (CIBO) has finally taken the bull by the horns, while also avoiding unproductive and unrealistic haste and scheduling the Conference well into the year 2004 to give proper notice to all Biafrans about the events so that they may fully participate.
quote:
Coalition of Igbo and Biafra Organizations (CIBO)

[b]CIBO's mission includes:
(1)Actualization of Biafra
(2) Coordination and consolidation of Igbo and Biafra organizations
(3) Promotion of unity, trust, and fraternal amity among Igbo and Biafran groups
(4) Promotion and protection of Igbo and Biafran interests
(5) Laying the foundations for an International Conference on Biafra in 2004

Long live Alaigbo! Hail Biafra!!!

Now you're talking!

The organizers must state what is required to pull off this conference right away, in terms of logistics and finance.
This is a brilliant idea; I congratulate those who are leading the effort.

Let's do it, and let's get it right. The lessons of the past must not be forgotten. If we create a mole hill, let's not call it a mountain. If we decide to set up an office or a secretariat, let's not call it an "embassy."

Hail Biafra

If CIBO will honestly and truly revive the Biafra movement without those greedy money embezzling toady viasages of ugly men in BF, I am all for CIBO. It is high time we stopped looking to scheming impoverished cheating and cowardic pretenders to do anything. The people in BF know nothing about the the grassroots masses who are paying with sweat and blood to enable these fat cats remain on their fattening diet.

When over the weekend, I noticed a flury of activities in my e-mail, I concluded that something was brewing. Of course, I decided to check the pulse of the Biafra movement and that brought me to this thread and the press release.

Whatever anyone does to get us seriously talking about Biafra again is wonderful for the movement. It was heartbreaking to read that the some DC area members of BF were shameless enough to support Ike Nwachukwu during the elections.

The 2004 International Conference on Biafra is the way to go. It is an opportunity we must use very wisely.

It is good to see all the pro-Biafra groups coming together to form a big coalition. The time is gone when we leave the movement to run like a mama put shop run by a handful of hungry men who are suffering from all types of social dysfunctions. I understand that Mazi Umah and Mazi Eze the leaders of the Washington DC/Baltimore/Virginia chapter of the former BF are now a part of CIBO. At least that means that unlike BF accounts, CIBO accounts will not be a piggy bank for one man and his inlaws.

CIBO has listed six objectives:
quote:
(1) Actualization of Biafra
(2) Re-energization of Biafra Actualization Activities
(3) Coordination and consolidation of Igbo and Biafra organizations
(4) Promotion of unity, trust, and fraternal amity among Igbo and Biafran groups
(5) Promotion and protection of Igbo and Biafran interests
(6) Laying the foundations for an International Conference on Biafra in 2004

The second objective has already been achieved, even though two of the four children in the defunct BF are using the opportunity to sow the seeds of hate among Biafrans.

Irrespective of the way in which we proceed, there should be NO attempt to conduct any fundraising at BNW for this conference. Anyone who wishes to raise funds should find another avenue outside BNW to do so. There are enough Biafrans who will be willing to finance the project quietly if they can be convinced that the events will be handle in a professional manner.

More important than raising funds is making sure that people get away from their computer that weekend and show up at the venue. All those who claim to be Biafrans should plan to attend the International Conference in 2004. There is no excuse. The conference should be a great opportunity to put faces to the names and an opportunity for people to show that they can do something concrete about what they say they believe in.

Long Live Biafra!

Ednut,

Why are we counting you out and why should anyone care if you fail to show up?

The most important is that any igbo organization be democratic, not hijacked by one or two individuals even if they are the founders of the organization.

It is essential that the leadership be changed through elections if they are no longer performing.

It is also necessary that the meetings and minutes of such organization be conducted in Igbo language. To help those who might have some difficulties, it is high time Igbo dictionary became real. A database such as Http://www.dictionary.com would be enough.
