What killed him? How did he die? Where did this happen?

What exactly is the 'suspicious circumstances' spoken of by that link?

It appears that Dr. Okadigbo was "subjected to dangerous levels of Tear Gas" at an ANPP rally to protest the April electoral fraud.

May his soul rest in peace. I first met the guy in 1980 at Enugu Presidential Hotel and again last year in Houston. He was a mentor to most of us from the old Anambra State as we were coming of age back then. We all (most of my mates) wanted to come to America, get a PhD., and return to Nigeria just like him.

Obasanjo also launched a tear gas attack against Ojukwu during one of Ojukwu's campaigns in Kano in the last elections. Ojukwu was said to have experienced some breathing difficulties after the attack. We have to warn Obasanjo and his Yoruba thugs to stop using poisoned gas to attack Igbo politicians who are holding a rally.

In the final analysis, Obasanjo and his fellow African despots are guilty of murder when they deploy deadly force in the form of tear gas, breeds of dogs that are not native to their country, or machine guns, in response to peaceful protests. Chuba, Obasanjo's political nemesis, now lies dead.

The death of Marshall Harry has not been fully investigated. Now, Chuba is dead. Yet again, it is a victim from the very section of the country for which Obasanjo has the most hatred. The fall of Chuba fits well into the maxim of "coward in the North and thug in the South" that so aptly captures Obasanjo's reign of terror in BiafraNigeria.

May Chuba Okadigbo's soul rest in peace.

It is now on record that Obasanjo's administration has committed more atrocities than any regime in Biafranigeria's history. The death of Chuba Okadigbo is a continuation of Obasanjo's Igbo-hatred and as his blood libel against the Igbo nation continues apace, who's going to be his next victim?

My concern is, Nd'Igbo will never learn their lessons. That Obasanjo will never repent never bothers his Igbo apologists. That the bigot is not perturbed and finds it necessary to eliminate the Igbo nation is like a child's play to the confused bunch of Igbos of native land and the Diaspora.

How can a bloodlust criminal who has in uncountable situations declared his hatred toward Nd'Igbo as his blood libels demonstrate with Nd'Igbo not knowing he still has a problem, that he continues to be positively bloodthirsty?

Time will tell!

May the soul of Chuba Okadigbo rest in peace!

Thanks Damian.

May his soul rest in peace.

I wonder how this would affect Buhari and his presidential aspirations and/or the recent legal battles he has with this current leadership.

On a more serious note, death is still a mystery to most humans.

Death by accidental exposure to tear gas, huh? Oh well, in every thing, let every man be circumspect and wise , living life with the knowledge that at any moment, without notice, one would inevitably pack up and go.

Ka Chineke nara mkpuru obi ya na ndokwa. Amen!

It is a great pity that respect is not accorded to those who deserve it.I wonder what non-violence means in the penal book of Biafranigeria? Why use a tear gas in the midst of such distinguished natives whose idea of protest is a walk on the street, armed with verbal words?

May his soul rest in Peace. Biafra,Africa has just lost one of her brightest by an incompetent and under educated police force.Someone gotta take the blame.

Okadigbo last moment.

Etiebet's account read: "The astonishing experience at the incident was that as opposed to the usual practice of dropping tear gas on the crowd, it appeared specific people were targeted for spraying with substance from hand-held canisters on their faces at very close rages by people in plain clothes, suspected to be security personnel."

He continued: "Specifically, in the case of Chief Okadigbo, the attack on him and Chief Nwodo was very, very close and Chief Okadigbo fell to the ground and had to be carried up to the VIP platform while he screamed:

"What are you doing to me? What are you doing to me? At the platform, he was revived after a long time, although he felt very uncomfortable and weak throughout the day."

"Upon his return to Abuja, Dr. Okadigbo started having difficulties with his breathing and even though he attended our caucus meeting that Tuesday night, he was obviously weak. Subsequently, his health deteriorated and he was unable to attend the court session on Thursday morning, the 25th of September. He later died that Thursday evening on his way to the hospital," he narrated.

The harder Igbo leaders quest for power to control or rule nigeria, rather than the real power that matters - the mobilisation of the umunna [and Biafrans] to reclaim the affairs of Igboland/Biafra, the harder they fall like flies before their prime.... Nnamdi M.

This is the fate that awaits all the one-nigeria Biafrans on the ground and everywhere.

In any case, now that the chief baffoon of the Yoruba nation has succeeded in taking out the Oyi, what is the Biafran nation going to do about it? Are we going to once again throw up our hands in powerlessness, or are we going to insist on linking cause of death scientifically to "dangerous levels of teargas" he was exposed to, and then take legal or other actions against the person and office of the president of nigeria. And if that fails mobilise Biafran citizens for war; only this time insist on success.

I can't think of a better reason for the existence of nations than the protection of their citizens. Unprovoked killing of Biafrans is now taken for granted by nigeria. The least we can do this time is to insist on thorough, independent Igbo investigation of this pre-meditated murder of prominent Biafran citizen. If we want any respect for the Igbo, Biafran nation and its citizens, this is the time to stand up to the government of nigeria under olusegun obasanjo.

Why has gas been used in a peaceful protest against an illegal regime? What makes us think that it was tear gaz and not the type used by Saddam Hussein. For those who remember, lethal gas has been used in Enugu against a religious group about two years ago. Last labour protest against the price of fuel saw about eight people dead. Nigerians should wake up and oppose foreign imposed dictators in Nigeria.

In any peaceful protest or any event, including what happens on daily basis such as in the fuel stations, Nigerians should try to film as many ugly events as possible. As I have already made clear, there are foreign presence in Nigeria whose objective is to antaganize Nigerians against each other. It is the only means by which they control the country. It could also mean a lot of money for the person that took the film, as the films will be used to judge Obasanjo and his cronies in the future.

Ojukwu and others mourn, Okadigbo's 10-year old son knows that his father was murdered,
quote:
God Will Judge My Father's Killers, Says Okadigbo's Son

From Oghogho Obayuwana, Abuja

CHINEDU, the last born of the late Dr. Chuba Okadigbo is only 10 but he spoke with so much cognition that belies his age.

To him, his father's death last Thursday night shortly after returning from a political rally in Kano cannot be natural. Therefore, whoever killed or connived to eliminate his family's breadwinner will be judge by God.

"God will judge the killers of my father," Chinedu said yesterday in Abuja.

In an exclusive interview with The Guardian in his late father's home, Chinedu, who had just arrived from Benin (where he schools at the Igbinedion Montessori) spoke glowingly of his father as a good family man.

"He (Okadigbo) was very close to me, and also very fond of me. He bought me anything I wanted especially that which would improve my learning.

"He used to buy me games (computer) and lollipop. I miss him. He should be around forever. I love him so dearly.

"My father was a good man. He has a kind heart. If you ask my mum she will tell you the same thing...How do we cope without him?" he said.

His chest responding to quick intake of breath on account of visible grief, the toddler continued:

"We did not want him (Okadigbo) to leave us just yet. He loved us, he loved Nigeria so much and he taught us what Nigeria means. He loved us and we loved him so dearly in the family..."

Chinedu is a genetic copy of his father. He it was that President Olusegun Obasanjo put on his laps when rapprochement was finally sealed between him and the late Okadigbo who was then the Senate President in 2001.

On life after his father's death, Chinedu said: "I do not think I will want to continue schooling at Igbinedion again. I don't know what is going to happen."

Asked if he would like to go to school not too far away from his mother now, he said, "perhaps".

This was the much he could say before he was taken aside by a family member.

What Should Nd'Igbo do about the murder of Okadigbo?

Is Okadigbo the kind of Igbo person whose death should provoke serious consequences from Nd'Igbo? Did Nd'Igbo lose anything from Okadigbo's death? Is there any Igbo person who can say that he would have done better if Okadigbo had lived?

Okadigbo was an Igbo one-Nigerianist. What is the Igbo one-Nigerianist solution when something like this happens?

Kalu who rushed to the Okadigbo's from the Council of State meeting in Abuja declared that he was the first person to break the news to President Olusegun Obasanjo at the council's meeting yesterday.

His words: "This morning, I was the one who broke the story to President Obasanjo and we had one minute silence in the council chambers at the Council of State meeting."

He continued: "I think from his (President) expression, he felt so bad. I read him very well because I was the one who broke it to Chief of Staff and both of us broke it to him (Obasanjo). I know that the papers he was having in his hands nearly fell off. He was seated already and I watched him closely. He almost collapsed when I told him."

Please someone needs to tell this fool to only read from a prepared speach. Everytime he opens his mouth, nonsense just flows out. Listen to him always hugging the mic. Did he break the news or did the Chief of Staff do it? The credibility of this man is zero in everything he says or do.

Those are questions that only those who believe in One-Nigeria should answer. I am not sure that Okadigbo is worth an Igbo life in protest. What I can assure you is that if Ojukwu were to be similarly murdered under Obasanjo, NO YORUBA PERSON ANYWHERE WILL BE SAFE.

Okadigbo: What is to be done?

Chuba Okadigbo is the most senior Igbo politician to die "under suspicious circumstances" since the assassination of General Ironsi in 1966. The death of Ironsi set in motion, a series of events which eventually led to war. The lesson of Ironsi assassination was that if the snake fails to do that for which it is held in great awe, little children will use it to tie their playground firewood, ma obu were ya gwoo aju.

When Ironsi was killed, the snake acted in the appropriate mannner hence it is widely acknowledged among Nigerian groups that toying with Igbo leaders is a dangerous game-play that would put that country in a tailspin, the outcome of which would be difficult to predict. Even Gen. Abacha in his deepest moments of deprevity steered well clear of Igbo people and their leaders. This perception may be about to change depending on how the Igbo respond to the Okadigbo issue.

Whether or not Okadigbo died of tear gas inhalation is beside the point. Autopsy report is good and logical. However, the outcome of autopsy in a politicised context is ultimately a matter of medical ethics which should not be the main concern of Ndiigbo at this point.

The point is this: Chuba Okadigbo is dead, period. Ndiigbo now face a tough choice- to act and act in a way that is proportionate, decisive and self-redeeming. To simply shrug off Okadigbo's unexplained death and do nothing will, in addition to undermining the security of surviving Igbo leadership, damage the dignity of every Igboman woman and child in Nigeria for the foreseeable future.

The main question is political _expression and the continuing illegitimate deployment of tear gas and state-sponsored violence against members of the opposition in a supposed democracy. In which democracy anywhere in the world are members of the opposition and their supporters stopped from holding rallies and have tear gas hauled at them? This is the central theme on which a strong case can be made against the increasingly demonic regime now in power in Nigeria.

Ndiigbo world wide under the leadership of the World Igbo Congress (WIC) must now send a strong message to the world by dispatching a strongly worded letter of complaint addressed to the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU) and the so-called African Union, Carter Institute, the Vatican etc. The letter must describe the harassment of Igbo leaders, contextualising the the death of Okadigbo within this theme and sounding a note of warning about the dangers of Igbo alienation from the Nigerian state.

As a practical _expression of Igbo anger, a one-day world-wide stoppage to be co-ordinated by all available means including text messages and e-mail must be observed by Ndiigbo irrespective of political and ideological leaning. Enough, they say is enough.nc

I agree with you on Chuba Okadigbo's irresponsible one-nigeria record, although that is not the issue now. The point is that a prominent Biafran life has been taken by a Hardcore Igbo Hater, in pursuit of his passionate objective to subordinate the Igbo/Biafran nation under this fraudulent, dumb regime. The question again is: Is Biafra going to allow olusegun obasanjo to continue to muscle the Igbo or are we now going to stand up and fight?
The credibility of the Igbo nation is now at stake.

You make good points. And, as usual, Keven Ani makes salient points. The good thing that can be said about Okadigbo at this point is that irresepective of his motivations, in his life time, he seemed to have turned the corner and he had started to oppose that evil yoroba creature, Obasanjo. I would have had no reservations about supporting the mobilization of Nd'Igbo to avenge him if Okadigbo had joined APGA in the last elections. It appears that Okadigbo always manages to gravitate away from whatever is identified as the a core Igbo political association. He was a party man. Now, his party should avenge him.

It is sad that anybody in BiafraNigeria would die in the hands of a regime not elected by the citizens but imposed by foreigners. No matter the political convictions of Okadigbo, Ndigbo
has to protest against the murder of their son.

The protest was peaceful, there was no need using gas on Nigerians protesting against an illegitimate regime, especially when
