Looting spree at Abuja Games village

From Mathias Okwe, Abuja

IT was a looting spree in Abuja at the Games village, as angry adhoc-staff of the organising committee of the recently concluded 8th All Africa Games turned their anger on the kitchen food store stripping it bare.

The workers which included catering staff, mobile policemen and private security men drafted to secure the village according to the Guardian's findings, were protesting the non-payment of allowances due to them by the COJA management more than one week after the Games, that ended on October 18th.

Bags of rice, yams, beans, oil and other beverages were freely carted away from the village in chartered taxis and buses as the security was relaxed by the policemen.

The food items were the left over of the stock pile from where the athletes and other official were fed during the games.

Before the food store looting, a similar exercise had been visited on the houses where valuable household fittings were stolen from the houses in the games village.

The Federal Government last Wednesday set up an inter-ministerial committee to sell the Games village houses to members of the public.

Meanwhile, the Kebbi House operations base of the COJA office has continued to be besieged by staff and contractors still being owed by COJA.

Chinyere,

Cute you said? Girlfriend you need to see what this 6'3" guy is build like. I am the guy that minor nigerians come up to and tell that if I was in the army and planning a coup, the will "fall" behind my massive a$$. The girl gotta be very pretty and tall, at least 5'11" and supper skinny to do it for me. If your girl meets this simple requirement, she will be my first Igbo girl since I have been here in the states heck since I can recall. She gotta be willing to work at least 70 hours a week and be in your profession at the least. She also gotta be back packing too.

Ednut:

70 hour week is what you are asking for? You must be kidding. I have a 60-hour week and I know how stressful it is. Be considerate, nwokem!
