Great topic. Ibrahim Babangida needs to fix his past first before anything else: The death of Dele Giwa, the mysterious Gloria Okon, Mamman Vatsa etc.

What's the relevance of this useless thread that you started? Isn't it enough when Babangida said he has no immediate plans to seek election in 2007? Stop digging dirt and focus on the issues at hand.

IBB
will make a better president than the chief thief himself Olisiego Obusonju. And when it comes to smartness and brilliance IBB dwarfed domb OBJ. Things cannot get any worst under IBB than it have been under chief thief himself Baba Iyabo Obusunjo

Ednut & co:
As sad and unfortunate as biafra's statement/reasoning might sound, truth on the ground in Nigeria (especially in southeast) is that even if Abacha were to rise from death today and square up against that chief THIEF who calls himself Obasanjo, the former will carry the day in a free and fare election.

Again, this is not what anyone would normally wish Nigeria with the amount of human and material resources within and without its border, but again, THAT IS THE UNFORTUNATE REALITY ON THE GROUND; MADE POSSIBLE BY OBASANJO'S FOUR AND PLUS YEARS OF MISRULE.
So blame it on the moron from Otta and not on biafra or any other person.

I can tell you I have never supported any party but PDP, even as I agree with you that I have been supporting individuals in other political parties during elections...All I know is that one Alhaji Ibrahim Babangida was registered 007 in the party...People don't realise that when PDP was formed I supported it and all along I have been supporting it...I will be part and parcel of advancing ideas that could help the country to stand as a great country at whatever level of any participation because I am an ardent believer in one united Nigeria.

My peeple, this one don tire me oh. Which kind countri be this? Na wah!

Tijani,

Your fascination with IBB and 2007 is troubling. Don't have anything else to do but concentrate of this same issue.

The fact remains that IBB and Abacha with their criminal deeds are better for the dead country nigeria than obasanjo will ever be.

This my take!!

Tijani:
Enough of your Yoruba drama.
If the then villified (mostly by the Yoruba press and masses) Obasanjo, better known as "INTERNATIONAL THIEF THIEF" (apologies late Fela anikulapo-Kuti) prior to 1999 can later become the president of Nigeria and now a demi-god amongst the same Yorubas, then you have more explanations to give as to why and or what should stop Babandida from becoming the president of Nigeria, and maybe later also a god to some.

While you stay abroad and villify Babangida, it is reported that your Yoruba kinsmen are negotiating for some peas from the Babangidas from the north come 2007. Doesn't it surprise you that after all the hubla the Awoist made against Abdusallam Abubakar after the demise of Abiola, that it was none other than the same Abdulsallam who chaired the occassion marking the birthday of Abraham Adesanya, who can rightly be described as the chief-priest of the Awoist doctrine!

My dear, you are fighting a LOSERS' battle.
The long hidden but known Yoruba double-speak and HYPOCRISY has been exposed and is being checkmated. Luckily, there's no more the Abiola's "mysterious death" for the Yoruba OPPORTUNISTS to hang on.

Experience is never arrogant or pride, it is like an eagle stirring up her baby eaglets and making them walk around in prickly nest. It is showing the light and leading the children and youths of our nation aright--they are the only legacy of our future generations. Experience is knowing when we stepped on people's toes and make proper restitution by sayin, I am sorry. This is the power of experience.

If this is true, then it is time to go to WAR. This people can not just take the rest of the citizens of this space called Nigeria for granted while they continue to mismanage the natural resources that GOD gave to Eastern Nigeria.

Nigerian Tribune:
IBB Strikes Deal With Diya, Others
THE former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida has struck a deal with Generals Tajudeen Olanrewaju, Oladipo Diya and others jailed for their involvement in a coup plot during the Abacha evil rule just as he shops for running mate in the South West.
The trio of Generals Diya, Tajudeen Olanrewaju and Abdulkarim Adisa have been agitating in vain for a state pardon which will remove the stain from their reputation. The defence headquarters claimed their fate lies with the presidency which seems unprepared to do so.
General Adisa has told President Olusegun Obasanjo, a beneficiary of the similar gesture not to keep the state pardon to himself. However, Saturday Tribune reliably gathered the self-styled evil genius has agreed to grant them the elusive pardon if elected the president.
According to a source close to General Babangida, “all those awaiting state pardon for their alleged involvement in the phantom coup during the Abacha administration would smile once IBB come, back in 2007. We all know they were wrongly jailed and the best thing to do is to close the chapter once and for all”.

Speaking further, the source, a member of the National Assembly from the north central declared “Babangida will pick his running-mate from the Yoruba race. Names like Olu Falae, Bolaji A

Usman Kadiri:

You should never believe whatever Ibrahim Babaginda (IBB)says. I doubt that he believes what he says either. IBB has been running for a come back ever since Abacha and co either tricked or scared him to abandon the presedency.

You can also see his interest in how hard he worked to select Obasanjo in 1999. He probably figured that after Obasanjo, any one else, including him, would be a welcome relief. He also wanted to appease the west by manipulating them. That the west later embraced Obasanjo despite his failings is a testament to the success of IBB in this regard. Now, newspaper reports from Nigeria in th last few days are full of speculations about who from the west, he would choose as his candidate. The two names mentioned thus far, chief Olufemi Falae, Dr. Bolaji Akeyemi, are by all accounts respectful and dignified men. There are also persons with gravitas. Who, after the annulment of the June twelfeth election in Nigeria and the deep wound and wailings it caused in Nigeria, would have thought that such a day will come where the annuller of that election and the disdainer of the west, will now be the one who encourages his underlings to throw up names of respectful leaders in the west as his potential running mate. Buch such behavior and "cleverness" are common among his kind has earned IBB his nickname and his notorious place in our dark history. The tragedy is not in the speculation itself but in the fact that non of those two gentlemen whose names are being bandied about to give IBB legitimacy, has come out to disassociate themselves from well-placed speculations.

A greater tragedy is that IBB may very well be the next president of Nigeria in 2007. Whou doubts this possibility? Especially, after our hectic ride under Obasanjo?. It brings to mind a tidbit Karl Marx wrote in his "The 18th Brummaire" in response to the comic attempt of Napoleon III to use the name and mystic of his nephew, Emperor Napoleon I to become the king of France. All great events occur twice in history. The first time as tragedy and the second time as farce. If you need to know, Napoleon III did become king of France with his pet vulture. It was not until 1870 that Prussia did put an end his farcical rule. Enjoy
