It is unfortunate to read the current irresponsible situation in Anambra State, my state.I feel ashamed to identify with the state. The current event justified to me that the Igbos will never have a common cause. I know that Obasanjo is at the head of the whole crisis, but I do not blame him. I blame those that he is using to undevelop my state like Chris Uba. I blame the people that eat and drink with Chris Uba. I blame the towns/villages that glorify Chris Uba. I blame the people that call Chris Uba a brother, uncle, even father.I blame those that have the priviledge to kill or poison Chris Uba but refuse to do so. Chris Uba is a nusance to Anambra State. Chris Uba suppose to be serving jail term in Anambra State. Chris Uba is not of any good to the people of Anambra State. I understand that Chris Uba is a governor make and political post nominator in Anambra State because he has inlaw relationship with Obasanjo. I want Obasanjo to reflect on his deeds and misdeeds every night before he goes to bed. Obasanjo claims to be a born again, May the Good God that he prays to judge him accordingly. I pray that Obasanjo be judged by his deeds. Obasanjo, please leave ANAMBRA STATE alone. Take your police if u want and permit us to have our own police force. Obasanjo, I do not know the way you feel when you heard that the security protecting Anambra State governor, His Excellency, Governor Ngige, had been withdrawn. Obasanjo, the Good God you pray to will provide Governor Ngige with his own security. Obasanjo, Anambra State, Nigeria and the rest of the world will judge you some day.

Nwanne, Cool your temper ,That gorila you are calling to leave us[Anambrarians ]alone is not the problem at all. Obusonjo is a born coward ,who cannot tie his shoe lace without direction. So we have to lay the entire blame on our brothers. and enlightement Chris uba -is a drop out and agbero , and can be cut back into his tiny semi-literate shelf but those that will do it are busy answering him -YES SIR. The first problem we have in Anambra state is NATIVE DOCTOR NGIGE -he accepted the stolen mandate of another person ,forgetting that there has never been honor among thieves. So if there will be solution to the crisis in ngiges life ,it must be his open confession to Ndi anambra. Another major terrible virus in that crisis is -ASA -USA under the chairmanship of Trader JIMMY ASIEGBU [the auto/motor mechanic] ,he is the worm that is eating and sucking Anambra treasury empty. The crisis will be over and out .if our diasporian brothers in USA stop romancing ngige and other dirty politicians for crumbs from the master table.

Biko gekwaa nu nti. Is this true?, Is the event below really unfolding? Read on:
quote: To: From: Date: Wed, 10 Nov 2004 11:38:33 -0800 (PST) Subject: [SMOBA] THE CHRIS UBA MAYHEM IN ANAMBRA STAE
My dear in-law, Here is a summary of the mayem which the Chris Uba group unleashed on Anambra State today: 1. Burnt down the two television and radio stations located in Onitsha and at Enugwu Ukwu and threatened each staff member with death should anything unflattering be ever said about the group; 2.burnt down the office of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission headquarters in Awka; 3.burnt a part of the Governor's office; 4.burnt a number of government vehicles; 5.kept members of the state legislature under house arrest in their official quarters;and 6.caused unimaginable traffic congestion for the whole day as it blocked the Onitsha end of the Niger Bridge and made several bonfires. The thugs who carried out these acts moved from place to place in 20 buses. Interestingly, the police could not arrest one person, nor did they use teargas, let alone firing bullets into the air, to stop them. As I am writing, Governor Chris Ngige has not been able to speak to either the president or the Inpector General of Police. Both the IGP and the President have been incommunicado, even though the governor has been in Abuja. Of course, you know the objective of all this drama directed from the highest quarters: to declare a state of emergency in Anambra State so that Uba and his fellow treasury hunters will take over the "ungovernable" state. I am deeply worried about the future of our country and the place of the blackman in the world. We lost the last century disastrously, and my fear is that we are going to lose the new century more calamitously. At the rate we are moving, I hope Nigeria will not up another Cote d'Ivoire, if not the Sudan or even Somalia. May God help us.
Ohaneze needs to inform Chris Ubah that if Igboland must burn at the hands of Chris Ubah, then every Igboman will have to make it his sacred duty to ensure that Chris Ubah and any like him will burn together with Igboland.
I hope Chris Ubah is not courting an Igbo fatwa!
If Igbos are compelled to take a sacred oath against him, The world would surely be too small.
Those who have ears, let them hear! This news if correct would be too bad to stomach.

Umuibe, Please spare this board your partisant shamful politics about your ASA USA.You need to come home and see the mahem this illiterate boy chris uba and Obasanjo have wrecked on your homeland before you start talking useless ego politics you disgrace your selves with in America.
I pray Obasanjo fully acts out his script in Anambra state, and the people react accordingly to the unwarranted provocation subsequently.Which would warrant enough reasons and support for the army to strike and end this irresponsible dictatorship of Obasanjo.May be God is about to hear the cries of Nigerians at long last by using the beast to bring about his own down fall.
Vigilance is once again called for! Igboland is now under siege.
If our awareness is removed from this incident, I’m afraid it would become a trojan horse through which Chris Ubahs forces would become legitimized in Igboland. At that point they may repair bridges and build new roads, but the Igbo voice will forever be silenced and the acquiescing masses would shortly be sated.

Blame outsiders, Obasanjo included as much as you want, fact is that what is happening in Anambra State, like most of Igboland is as a result of what we Igbos call 'itimgbu'. That is a situation whereby a every thug that can buy/pay his way into a position is followed without questioning and is praised even when he/she is misleading those he/she claim to lead. Sadly, this same malaise has befallen the so-called enlightened Igbos the diaspora. I even learnt that Ngige and Chis Uba were given an 'Award' just a couple of days ago in the U.S. by an organization representing Anambrarians in that part of the world! With this coming just days after another MORON was returned into the White House, I cant help than ask if there isn't something politically wrong with the native Americans and those that migrated there from other parts of the world.
I therefor challenge the Anambrarians on this board and elshere who want to turn the entire Igboland around to start that miracle by saving their own State. Because someone/group of persons from a state that has by every defination of the word become the SORE ON THE HEART OF THE IGBO NATION CANNOT LEAD THE IGBO PEOPLE. Charity they say should and must begin at home.
That said, my sympathy goes to the honest, peace-loving, tolerant and hardworking Anambrarians that have been rubbished by the action of some very few bad ones from their part of Igboland.
Over to you my Anambra bros & sis.

The Honorable one, may I suggest that you omit the email address next time because the writer might have wanted to remain anonymous.
To all,
I must confess I didn't bother to read anything on this since the same asshole; ngige supported the illegal and unjust emergency declaration in Plateau. So, where's the beef? ngige should and must go. I am pained for the nonsense he and his master, uba brought upon the good folks of Anambra. Just like njiko said, it could be the divine way of effecting the needed change. Our brothers and sisters in that state shall definitely overcome. Period! I’ve reason to believe that the man with the mandate to lead, Dr. Peter Obi is still alive. He should immediately come out to cease on this rare chance to demand a return of his mandate. Obi is too quiet for comfort if you ask me. God please hear us! God?

Mebiafran,
Rapid response!!! thanks for bringing that to my attention. I had copied that post wholesale from the mass e-mail source I recieve daily.
In the attempt to be transparent and not to appear to claim credit of authorship for something I gathered in that manner I had posted the info as is. I have now corrected that possible error and removed that information and hope it does not bear any unintended consequences.
As regards the unfolding saga,
I hear you loud and clear. Without equivocation I am on record on different threads, especially the thread "crisis in Anambra" (or something to that effect) as maintaining that exact viewpoint which you and NwaAro espoused above.
MY POSITION: UBA VS NGIGE
I have not wavered, as I had on a prior occassion passionately poured out my reasons on this board why in the elections of 2003 (and for the sake of peace in "Nigeria"), APGA must be welcomed and supported to power by all Igbos as the party through which to articulate their aspirations in Igboland if we are to even talk about the prospects of peaceful interaction within "Nigeria" towards any notion such as SNC.
Imagine then my utter chagrin and painful disappointment when upon hearing the name "Chris Ubah" a fellow Igbo, a man (as opposed to a scurrilous dog without shame or honor), associated with rigging against APGA and in favor of PDP!!!, associated with "godfathering" a whole stable of "Igbo candidates" (all scoundrels to the last one) to rig against an already aggrieved afflicted, and downcast people. Against their own flesh and blood?
Imagine the knowledge that that accursed knave, an "Igbo" man, robbed a whole race of their only voice to speak out collectively to reject deliberate violations being meted out against them just so he could enjoy the worship of those who would bow before him in slavish gratitude for his benevolence, even as he compels them (through the brute force of the state security apparatus controlled by his hateful masters), to turn the treasury over to his personal whims and caprices. If you can imagine the depths of my displeasure, then you would understand that I dont possess the luxury to change my position at all.
THE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN COWED
The people have been cowed! this must give us greater appreciation for the person of Ralph Uwazurike who even now has been sentenced to death by assasination for standing up fearlessly and speaking out against unjust government brutality, malice, and oppression.
That the people have been cowed does not mean that the people are in approval of the actions of the dual abominations Chris Ubah and Chris Ngige, notwithstanding that they have so far alligned with Ngige to draw a line in the sand against what initially appeared during the reign of Mbadinuju (another scourge) to be an unstopable march to total occupation of not just Igboland, but of the Igbo mind, by malicious foreigners smuggled in through surrogates to unleash the final act of destruction and desecration of Igbo sanctity.
That the people have been cowed does not mean that they are no less hapless victims to the scourge now being unleashed through lawless (fellow Igbo) bands of hirelings and scowling hyenas ready to rape and pillage, ready to drink the lifeblood of the victimized Igbo psyche, wounded and laying still crying out folorn.
Shall we abandon them now because they are cowed by the relentless onslaught? Shall we join the rest of “Nigeria” to overlook this incident, mistakenly supplanting the wounded victim with the callously brazen and unrepentant faces of the oppressor? This is our dilema, and we must confront it headlong.
ENTER BNW
That BNW exists has made it possible for many such as myself not only to post our opinions here, but also to sensitize as many Igbos as possible to our shared stake in view of afflictions we mutually detest such as the unfolding saga whose use as a trojan horse only portends ominous signs for Igboland .
To the extent that the long dormant Igbo mind is now being awoken, not as individual republicans but as a collective grouping of shared aspiration, BNW has now availed us the opportunity to project our voice beyond physical boundaries so that others may hear us, so that some may even think twice even as they hatch their plots in secret.
WHAT CAN DIVIDE US IS MORE NUMEROUS THAN WHAT CAN UNITE US, BUT WHAT CAN UNITE US IS STRONGER THAN WHAT COULD DIVIDE US
This is why we must at least speak out through this podium, whether we reject Ubah or Ngige or even those who have chosen to play Diaspora chieftain at the expense of good sense, as posited by the worthy Umuibe, we must use BNW to sound the alarm (as underscored in Njiko’s countering frustration with us diasporans) when the bandit strikes in the dark. We must raise our voices again and again.
Yes, Anambrarians or not, Angry at Uba/Ngige or not, One would rather err on the side of alarmism and succeed in bringing everyone including the bandit to heightened alertness than risk turning a blind eye together with other "Nigerians" (especially the parapo press, who are only now begining to see the ominous signs ahead), only to discover later (after Ubah has strengthened his and Aremu's hand locally) that we are that hapless victim too.
Besides, it is when we scream loudest against secret plots, that other "Nigerians" begin to see the danger to themselves and begin to recuse themselves of complicity with or tacit approval of the abomination called Obasanjo.
AGAIN, LET US REMAIN VIGILANT. INJUSTICE AGAINST ONE IS INJUSTICE AGAINST ALL.

quote: Anambra burns By Our Correspondents Punch Thursday, November 11, 2004
• Niger Bridge blocked, passengers stranded
quote:
Violence was unleashed on three major towns in Anambra State in the early hours of Wednesday by arsonists suspected to be political thugs.
In the towns – Awka, the state capital; Onitsha; and Enugu-Ukwu – unidentified persons set ablaze property worth millions of naira.
Four explosives, believed to be dynamite, were recovered from Governor Chris Ngige’s office at the Government House by fire service men, and another from the State Independent Electoral Commission.
The hoodlums torched the ASIEC building.
Some offices within the Governor’s Office were also partly burnt by the arsonists in a spate of mayhem that left Ngige and his estranged political godfather, Chief Chris Uba trading blame.
The protesters also made bonfires on the ever-busy Niger Bridge at about 3.15pm, cutting off the only link between the West and the East.
They seized and burnt a 911 Mercedes Benz and a luxury bus, using their wreckage to also block passage.
As at 8pm on Wednesday when our correspondents left the bridge, efforts by the police to placate the protesters failed.
BRAZENNESS: NO HOLDS BARRED The audacity to commit physical damage and traumatize Anambrarians as shown in the pictures above, and with the full force of SSS tactical support and deliberate passivity will ultimately pale in comparison to the intended aims of Obasanjo when a state of emmergency is declared in Anambra state.
One hopes Ngige and Ubah will surrender to Peter Obi to avoid potential calamity. Will Obasanjo permit it? Or will some hitherto unknown opportunist be eagerly waiting in the wings to relieve their tongues from Obasanjos asss, with his mantra being: “Onye ube ruuru O rachaa” ?

This now appears to be all about leverage and proximity within Igboland. Obasanjo is out to avenge Achebe’s audacity and will soon show Igbos (not just Anambrarians), that this is not Plateau state. Where only Plateau was under emmergency rule.
This being Igboland, this is occupation!, in order to solidify the siege.
Igbo land is under siege!
LET US STAY VIGILANT. THE ONSLAUGHT IS FOR REAL. INJUSTICE AGAINST ONE IGBO STATE IS INJUSTICE AGAINST ALL IGBO PEOPLE!

The main, main man. I'm about had it with ngige and uba. At this juncture, I'll not loose sleep if physical harm is visited upon ngige since the asshole does not know that the right thing to do is collaborate with the Election Tribunal and hand the damn crap to the rightful winner, Peter Obi. Who to my surprise is not saying much. What a bunch of wicked EFULEFUS. Obi's silence is dangerously close to being that of an efulefu.
And where are the mushroom Igbo assemblies in the U.S. when you need them, WIC/WEAK, ASA-USA and all the other job seekers?

I was informed this morning that Ngige was the one that fired the first shot. He plotted to set the INEC office ablaze since his grand father or is it god father was having the upper hand in the farcial council election. Uba's thugs have been rented from Dokubo, the Izor warrior who works for Obasanjo and Odili.
You'll see that the BBC that did NOT report August 26 and Ojukwu's face off with the secret corwards(SSS) is now giving coverage to this one and quoting Achebe.
There is nothing like Anambra or Igbo people in this, the two morons should be allowed to kill each as quickily as possible. Ngige should also be encouraged to use state resources and organise owambe on 11/11 and call it liberation day II.

It is a big shame that such mayhem will continue unabated in Anambra State, and the innocent helpless citizens of the state are being made the sacrificial lambs of the in-fighting among the godfathers.
Looking at the bigger picture, I think all the Ohanezes and Ezegburugburu should be ashamed that a high school drop out like Uba can become so powerful and unstoppable in his destruction of the capital of Ndigboland. Personally I do not see any difference between Chris Uba and Gani Adams, but the difference is Afenifebi elders have a way to put a leash on the latter, while Ohaneze seems helpless in leashing the former.
There is no amount of denial from all the warped Alaigbos on this forum that will take away the fact that the actual perpetrators and executors of this latest mayhem are Alaigbos residents of Anambra State. I know you want us to believe like you always do that the blame should be on the Jihadist from Arewaland or the Ngbatis from Odualand, but you can only sell that within and among yourselves, not to the world beyond BNW.
I've never seen you write this much. Ibon (gun) and all. Should another Abacha type emmerge again, you and other Ile-yoruba's will flee and squeal the loudest.
MeBiafran and OU,
My thrust is that what is ocurring presently, is a prelude to emmergency rule being foisted over Anambra.
I understand am swimming against the current on this one because of the antecedents of the main protagonists involved, but I feel that Anambrarians need not be turned into colateral damage statistics without a more active and unified vocal reaction which should resonate around all corners to register our collective vigilance, and constrain the excesses of those who already have their plans mapped out for occupation intensification in Igboland via emmergency rule.
If what I'm hearing from my brothers however is that we allow Obasanjo to bring on that emmergency rule and let the heavens fall so that every one can finally take a rest including Aremu, then I hear you loud and clear.
I see the method to the madness. I will continue to highlight the headlines but now with a slightly modified twist.

Wow Did Bababoyz wife took the kids to Yoroba land and gave bababoyz some free time to write. For once in Bababoyz adult life he wrote more than two sentences. For the first time Bababoyz seem to make some sense in his writing. Bababoyz I am not going to attack your writing today, though I did not agree with everything you said, but I think you made some valid point on this Anambra debacle.
quote: Personally I do not see any difference between Chris Uba and Gani Adams, but the difference is Afenifebi elders have a way to put a leash on the latter…
Miracle! I am actually agreeing with this Yoruba chap. Bravo babyboz! You are right but let me also remind you that were it not for aremu, the illiterate boy, uba would not stand a chance. Another way to look at it is, if the person in Abuja were to be Igbo or say Hausa, he can equally use Gani Adams to scuttle any Yorubaland if that's the undemocratic way he prefers. That is if the president is as stupid as obasanjo who is giving support to all sorts of illegality. See how easy it is to be an IGBOLOGIST or BIAFRAN? The maintenance of democratic principles worldwide is all there is for peace to reign on earth. No other way. And this is what BIAFRA is about.
Ukaobasi:

Bingo! Enough of ngige, let whatever come so that the ordinary folks will have some needed rest. Could you imagine the stupidity when ngige and all the governors with the exception of Tinubu, supported the illegal and unjust emergency rule in Plateau? The man, ngige supported something the fool knew could be used on him too.

My People! I passed Awka to see for myself the destruction.Chineke!!,Anambra state have been effectively retarded 50 years back! Infact, along the Enugu-Onitsha expressway, you can see the unprecedented scale of mindless destruction.Almost all the government owned houses seen along the expressway was burnt down to the ground. The state primary education board building which can be said to be the only "high rise "building in Awka was razed completely to the ground too.Infact it is still smuldering with smoke. The police are now on every pole along the expressway busy collecting money from motorists as if nothing had happened.
I wonder where Anambra state would ever get the money to return to fix this total calamity. All the buildings which took successive administrations from Ezeife to Mbadinuju-Ngige were all burnt down completely. I think this scale of destruction easily reveals the intentions and contempt of the perpetrators of this heinous crime for the lives and well being of Igbos.A survey of the desolation of Awka today would easily convince one that this is truely a page from the devil`s script for the final anihilation of Igbos in Nigeria begining with page one of chapter one, right here in Awka.It truely goes beyond Ngige or politics whatsoever because even if Ngige recieves in advance all the money meant for Anambra state for the next 10 years, they can`t fix this mess. This is truely very very sad.I weep for Anambra state.Anambra now needs a miracle to recover.People that come from this state should find a way to protect their properties.
I can't tell you enough how these news emanating from there saddens me. As I write, I'm going in high state of melancholy. I have a question for you though.
WHY IN JESUS NAME THIS NGIGE BOY WON'T FOR THE SAKE OF HIS PEOPLE RELINQUISH THE DAMN GOVERNOR'S LODGE TO PETER OBI?

MeBiafra,
That will be quiting and Mr. Ngige is a Coal Camp boy. If you know guys that grew up in Camp, then you will understand where ngige is who he is.
I too weep for my beloved Anambra State. Someone out there needs to take care of some of this problem before the whole state implodes. Where are the ex Bakasi and ex AVS members at.

I will comment further on this thread as time permits, but having read MeBiafran’s exasperation, I can’t help but ask these few questions:
A) These thugs that are running around looting and burning are Igbos, if not Anambrarians. Why, in the name of all that is precious, are they WILLING to cause such damage on Igboland? Is there no sense of self-love here? What is driving these self-destructive actions?
B) Has the security apparatus in the body of the NPF totally failed in Anambra state? Are they scared for their lives? Are they merely pawns of some higher authority that has prevented them from acting?
C) If they cannot guarantee peace, should alternative peacekeeping groups be formed? Should citizens, shall we say, take the law into their hands to find a way to battle those fomenting the mayhem? Bakassi Boys or some form of civil defense corps if we do not want soldiers running all over the place?
D) Last but not the least, is removing Ngige the solution to this mess? Like someone who lies down with dogs and thus attracts fleas, shall we perhaps say that Ngige should leave the stage and then hope that all the hordes of personal enemies who have continued to visit mayhem on the state because of him take the cue and leave the peaceful state of Anambra state to find a way to move forward?
I will say something quite uncharacteristic of me:
At this point, I am more concerned about the loss of life and property, more worried about the continuous sense of uncertainty, more troubled by the escalating sense of insecurity than considerations about whether Obasanjo is trying to impose emergency rule on Anambra state. I do not consider the fallacy currently practiced in Nigeria as a democracy, so rather than entertain thoughts about what democratic travesty is going on, and what insults some actions may be to our “nascent” democracy, I am looking at what could be done to stop the IMMEDIATE lawlessness and general pandemonium first.
When these pressing issues are solved, we can go back to the drawing board, see where we left off, and begin this painful effort at democracy which has been so thoroughly undermined from the moron living in Aso rock to that idiotic, greedy filthy motor park thug who would take some money to burn down his father’s compound.
Do we need another Bakassi Boys outfit in Anambra? Or perhaps, do we need the relative calm that soldiers can bring if the Police force cannot do anything in Anambra at all?
