"I needed to raise cash and I was thinking about what I could sell," said Rosie, who has never even seen a man naked. Rosie says she will sell her virginity to the highest bidder

OU, That was funny! but it does appear that girl is dead serious judging by the following:
DEDUCTIVE REASONING AT WORK
Step 1. Estimate your projected expenditures.
quote:Rosie estimates her three-year course at the university, where Prime Minister Tony Blair's son Euan is also a student, will cost her £7,500 a year.
Step 2. Evaluate your income generating options.
quote:"I needed to raise cash and I was thinking about what I could sell," .
Step 3. By process of elimination, Deduce the brightest option by weighng out all the pros

Ngwanu! are you are (according to Zeburudaya). There you have it!
In any case, a virginity inspector with good magnifying lenses may be required by all potential "investors". It was Reagan who wisely said "Trust!!! But verify!" Of which I concurr.

Judging by the look of that girl, it is no surprise that English men have elected to keep her a virgin for so long. Yet, if ever there was a time to hearken unto the phrase Caveat Emptor, this is it.
Maybe the English lawyers on this board could help us out. Is prostitution illegal in England? Or, is there a first sale doctrine (a la copyright law), which makes it legal for one to sell her virginity?

That's the thing now. It is everywhere. You have many BiafraNigerian students who can barely complete their classes for a semester in England while the most corrupt person in Abubakar Atiku, who as Director of Customs and Excise and notorious oil bunkerer and vice president of a ridiculous regime has his kids all over Britain squandering money on campus.
And who is saying a word? Absolutely nobody!

They claim she's a virgin because she's only ever been in a lesbian relationship. Apparently, girls are incapable of destroying the hymen.
To me the whole thing sounds like Mr Clinton's "I did not bla bla bla bla"
The legal interpretations could be interesting. Even the ndi uwe ojii (police men) are struggling for an excuse to arrest:
quote:Rosie Reid, 18, auctioned her virginity over the internet to pay her way through Bristol University, (sn reported). She has now closed the auction after she received a £8,400 bid on Sunday. Police are now investigating whether the sale is legal. "It's a strange one because it's a grey area," a spokesman for the Avon and Somerset Police said. "We are taking advice. I think it's probably illegal because it's like soliciting, but we are taking legal advice over the matter." A spokeswoman for the university said: "As far as the university is concerned we have no comment as it's not a university issue and the student is an adult." The student's parents are trying to talk her out of doing it.

Whao, Thank God for little mercies. I was just about to launch a 'where-are-they-now? thread in respect of the in-house juggernaut, UKAOBASI. See who surfaces. Men, welcome back here from your self-imposed hibernation, I miss your passion; though largely misplaced, but it surely kept things rolling. I hope you dont go away no more!

Addy,
It certainly is a nice feeling to be missed, whether for good bad or ugly, as your assessment of my passion implies.
Again, Thank you for inquiring after me, I do enjoy our unrestrained but necessary ribbing and attacks. I did also miss the self delusional revisionisms; that zombie-like glazing of perpetual denial which pervasively characterizes the typical and already warped Nigerian sense of mental rationalization (with respect to their Igbophobia) as always evidenced by the postings of all card-carrying “One Nigeria”, Biafra bashing members of this forum, Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa combined.
Anyway, on a more sober note, I had to evacuate myself to your Nigeria to bury the most beautiful and loving symbol of "Home", my mother whom I lost in January. I returned back just recently, but somehow, things are not quite the same in my outlook for now.
The abundance however, of satirical imagery stirred up in my thoughts by this lighthearted thread initiated by OU could’nt help but elicit the remarks I was compelled to post above, so am not altogether absent. We Igbos would figuratively say: “Udor ji agu” (the hands are tied).

Sorry to hear of your loss. You must have handled it as a man, since you went home and paid your last respect to the most important person in your life. May the good LORD be with her and may her memory remain with you forever.

Welcome back! Please, accept my condolences. Even now, I cannot even begin to imagine what it is like to lose one's mother. I hope you find strength in your beliefs, and that the deceased finds eternal repose.

Please accept my heartfelt condolence. My family and I will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
Just a couple of weeks ago I had this strong urge to ask after your welfare. I tried but apparently you've moved on from the old cellular I had.
Please take it easy. Ndo, kaa!

I had wondered the last couple of weeks why your treatise was no longer coming. I had asked many colleagues if they had any idea of what was going on, not knowing you've lost a beloved one.

UkaObasi, I can tell you are really back. Backhanded sleighs, unrestrained outpour of emoticon. Well, what can i say that has not been said, May your late mother continue to find repose in the bossom of the Lord. The Biafran struggle sure lost one of its backbones. Ndeewo!
