Ladies and Gentlemen:

Ukaobasi is a giant on this board. Therefore, back-handed swipes and all included, as is usual on this great board, it is fitting that condolence messages to Ukaobasi and his family on the sad event of his mother's death be hosted in its own thread, away from the type of thread where we first learned the bad news.

Once again, may the soul of the Igbo woman that produced this brilliant son rest in peace.

Mallam Ukaobasi: [Cry]

Do accept my condolences. It is terrible to lose a parent, even when it happens to a Mallam who has a warped point of view on all important issues of our time, from Iraq to soccer.

Where is the Alhaji? Is everything alright with him?

Mazi Ambrose,

My brother thank you so much for the kindest of intentions, words, and action in initiating this thread, I can only say am speechless by the gesture.

Daud, thank you for your kindness. Your handle is one worthy adversary UkaObasi appreciates.

Prepare to do battle when my thoughts are settled. It seems we must clash visciously till exhaustion and commonsense overwhelms us both.

First, let me welcome you back to this great forum. To say that your insightful inputs (with the gradious grammer) was missed by your allies like Nwa Aro and probably by your "adversaries" will be belittling the fact.

Do accept my heartfelt condolences.
May the Aro/Igbo woman that brought an equally great Aro/Igbo son like you to this world rest in PERFECT PEACE. Amen!

Also extend my condolences to the other members of your family. You all should stay TOGETHER at this time of sorrow. It will all be well.

Ezigbo Nwanne m,

It is with the deepest sense of grief that I am writing to express my condolences for the tragic event that befell you. [Cry] [Cry]

We mortals do not as of yet understand the fortuitous and baffling nature of Death, or for what purpose it strikes at the time it does to claim our most cherished ones. Nevertheless take heart my brother, for your mother’s departure is to be with the Lord.

May the good Lord grant you the grace and strength to cope with these trying times. Extend my warmest regards to the rest of the family.

All,

I use this opportunity once more to express my heartfelt thanks to all those who have sympathised with me in one form or another, I know I cannot express enough my gratitude.
I understood a fateful day would come for us all, but somehow imagined my 67 year old mum a constant fixture at least for a few more good years to come.
I believe I handled the whole process rather well, even making some sparse postings on this board as if on overdrive and as an immediate outlet before I departed this side of the Atlantic for home.

Being home and to the village for the burial was something else altogether, a surreal experience which we (my Dad, siglings, and self) also weathered.
With head completely shaved in honor after a fitting burial and all accompanying events were fulfilled, we ritually washed our hands and returned back to Lagos where I stayed on shortly in solidarity to my dad before returning back.
As Addy noted, I too believe I’m back! though, I acknowledge philosophical wranglings within, resolving themselves as to appetite, and a mode of response to certain threads I have perused within the past week of my return.

Thank you again kind people all, and Amen to all the prayerful wishes expressed for the happy and peaceful repose of my mum’s gentle soul. May God bless you for your considerateness herein.
Special thanks going again to; Ednut, Damian, Ohafia Udumeze, Ambrose, Addy, Daud, NwaAro, Bababoyz, Blessing, Anaedo, Seun, and Chiboy.

I will ever remain grateful.
