Too many people are being gunned to death in our dear country. Last month, it was Dikibo. There was Harry Marshall. Now, they have tried to kill Benue Governor. Is their government involvement in these killings and attempted killings?
quote:
There was apparently no attempt to steal anything from the convoy, which was travelling with its sirens blaring, so armed robbery does not appear to be a motive for the shooting. The ambush occurred near the village of Nassarawan Eggon, 150km south-east of the capital Abuja at 0700 local time (0600GMT) on Wednesday morning. The BBC's Mannir Dan Ali says that Mr Akume, from the ruling People's Democratic Party, is not a particularly controversial politician. However, he did criticise the government over its handling of the army's shooting of some 200 civilians in Benue state in 2001. Benue is one BiafraNigeria's most ethnically diverse states and the army was accused of taking sides in clashes between the rival Jukun and Tiv groups.
Who wants these people dead?

I don't see the disrespect. Are you trying to impose your own personal preferences?

Ogechi,

It is disgusting to have that picture up there. Now what is the reason of having the picture of the police man up there. He was only doing his job and was not a public figure.

I still say that it is a disrespect to the dead for you to have those picture posted here. Take corrections.

PDP DIE, PDP NA PDP GO BERRI AN. NA PDP SCHEDULE THE MEETING, NA PDP WEY KNOW THE ITINIRARY OF THEIR MEMBERS. IG, IF YOU REALLY WAN SOLVE THESE KILLINGS, START WITHIN THE PDP FAMILY. NA MAN WEY KNOW MAN DEY KILL AM

Ednut:

I beg to disagree. I don't see the disrespect. Instead, it exposes the cold-bloodedness of the murder. What I think is that you are one of those people who are sqeamish about the pictures of any dead bodies. It's kind of funny. I guess we each have our pet peeve. This ain't mine.

Unfortunately, such pictures are the best way to tell the story sometimes. The pictures are on almost all the news sources from BiafraNigeria.

I don't know about your public figure distinction in this case. In any case, the two dead people are in one image, and I have no way of removing one and leaving the other.

Let's agree to disagree.

Some-how, some-how, I think Mr Agom was the target and they "gat him".

When you read the various accounts you know immediately that the assassins had ample time to pick there man, for they were even heard laughing as the vehicle driver lost control and the car careered off the motor way.

The first question I asked when I spoke to a BNW "forumite" was whether Mr Akume had bullet proof clothing.

Audu Ogbe was quoted as saying: "We've just S/elected him(Agom) into the PDP Board of Trustees(BOT)".

The finger of suspicion IMHO should be pointing at the BOT a.k.a nest of killers, apologies Wole Soyinka.

If the opposition party was responsible, then they would have made Akume their prime target since he'd master-minded the fraud that was the last election when the majority Tivs wanted Unongo of ANPP in the saddle. The ANPP would have got Akume since everyone is pretty much certain on who he is.

His half-hearted criticism of Aremu Obusonjo may not count much against him since he'd delivered his state and is presently doing the master's bidding.
