It is now an undisputable truism that our Edo compatriots sure can pack a punch. I have opened this thread for the benefit of Mr Nowa Omoigui the official Edo story teller.
quote: Celestine Ukwu, a popular Igbo musician allegedly released a piece titled “Ewu Ne Ba Akwa”meaning “Goats are crying” in Igbo (although there is an account that claims that this song originated from a non-Igbo artiste from Rivers).
Blooming heck Omoigui, such a simple matter as music which could be very easily verified without any need for "allegedly", "there is an account", "that claims".
Fact: Song & Music was by Rex Lawson in more than a year before the event which Omoigui writes about. Well, to make life easier for narrator Omoigui, I shall be pasting Edo wars on this thread so he doesn't go looking for "allegations".

BYSTANDERS watched with shock as an angry mob in Benin, the Edo State capital, last weekend forced open a coffin, stripped the corpse naked and flung it across the street following an alleged provocation.
The stage for the development was set when a middle-aged man was allegedly killed by a group of mourners in a funeral procession.
The gory incident occurred in Ozigie Street, Ekenwa area of the city.
Eye witnesses told Daily Champion that the deceased whose name was yet to be released by the police as at Press time, was clubbed to death for not parking off the road while the funeral procession was in progress.
Due to the rowdy tendencies of mourners in the state recently, the Benin Monarch, Omo N’Oba Erediauwa had banned funeral processions in and within the centre of Benin precisely along the streets close to the palace.
Reports said tragedy struck when the mourners who were hired by a popular family within the area to add glamour to the burial ceremony of their late mother, allegedly pounced on a driver who was said to have delayed in leaving the road for the funeral procession.
According to the spokesman of the state Police Command, Mr. Fatai Kinyomi, who confirmed the report, the man who was driving a tipper lorry in the company of his brother, jumped out of the vehicle and escaped.
Unfortunately, his brother who also jumped out was not so lucky as they caught up with him and allegedly clubbed him to death.
The sad development consequently angered both the relations of the deceased and residents of the street who mobilised and stormed the venue of the burial ceremony.
All the chairs and canopies hired by the celebrants were set ablaze, the coffin containing the corpse was opened and the corpse stripped naked and threw carelessly on the street.
As at the time of filling the report, the celebrants who vacated their houses, were yet to return while the whereabouts of the corpse was unknown.
Police said they were investigating the matter
