South Africa, the true giant of Africa, has been named the Host for Mundial 2010. This was expected by any objective observer of the the quality of their bid and the superp state of their facilities.
The report of the Technical Committee of FIFA earlier in the week, ajudged the state of their preparednes as the best.
Today, the South Africans have added another feather to their strong and beautiful plume. They have a cause to be happy and to celebrate.
So, Egypt, Morroco, Tunisia and Libya, that also wanted to host the global fiesta will have to wait for 2014 and beyond.
I am happy. Many people are happy for South Africa and its peoples, here in BiafraNigeria. There is a celebrarion going on as I write.
Aside, there is one man who may not be happy for this turn of event. There is one man who may not be celebrating. That man is Segun Odegbami, former Green Eagles marksman.
Odegbami championed the ludicrous and stillborn BiafraNigerian bid for the fiesta. I don't see why he should be happy today not to talk of celebrating.
He was so passionate about the bid in which he wanted to copt Ghana, Cameroun, Benin, Togo, name them, that he even engaged in racial slurs. I watched him on one BiafraNigerian electronic medium say that "South Africa's bid is not an authentic Africa's bid." His was. What a shame!
He even hallucinated beyond the success of his bid, when he said that he evisaged seeing Atiku Abubakar recieving the Cup won by Super Eagles in 2010. Atiku Abubakar was the arrowhead of his bid in Aso Rock at the time.
And you know what? Every credible sports writer in the BiafraNigeria media kicked against Odegbami's bid. Ordinary BiafraNigerians kicked against it, yet he persisted with the bid; junketing around the globe and frittering away public funds.
It was later learned that it took the well respected leaders of South Africa to abort Odegbami's fantasy of hosting the world. Bear in mind that basic facilities of life, like electricity, water and telephone, taken for granted in other climes, hardly work here. Don't even talk about roads and other transport facilities, they are the poorest in West African coast.
In fact, some wondered aloud, whether he was sure that BiafraNigeria would still be existing by 2010, in view of the endemic ethnic and religious crises and the bleak future it portends.
The press had since reported that Odegbami and his committee have been asked to refund some money allegedly ...; anyone who knows BiafraNigeria can provide the missing word.
Talk of seeking for relevance and avenues to 'choplet' (apologies to Chika Okpara, Chief Zebrudaya, Alias 4.40). Talk of sycophancy of the worst kind and a creative way to defraud BifraNigerians. Umuibe, this digression is necessary for the sake of posterity.
Again, I am happy for South Africa. We should all be. We should pray that the living conscience of the world, 'Mahdiba' Mandela, would live to see his beautiful country, so well captured by Thabo Mbeki's verse, 'I am an African', host a world-class Mundial in 2010. We should also pray that we live to witness it.
We hope that since South Africans are better planners than BiafraNigerian authorities; and indeed most countries in the continent, they would be able to assemble a team that would win the Mundial in 2010.
And if it means naturalising some young and talented Biafrans to do it, they should be encouraged to go for it.
CONGRATULATIONS to all South Africans, other Africans and citizens of the world, with a good sense of equity.

Didn't the yoruba/bini tell us their nigeria is the giant of what again? Plurze! Outta window goes the stupid claim giant my behind. While everything negative is associated with their nigeria, serious countries are leaving an indelible marks of history all over.
Read the Oba of Benin well articulated history of the yoruba then tell us about your lineage. While the Oba of Benin scored 99%, the Ooni of Ife continue to struggle with a failing 2% for effort.

Congrats to South Africa as the leader and gaint of Africa. Hold on to that title until BIAFRA the real LEADER and GAINT of Africa takes it rightful title from you.
Biafra is the real GAINT of Africa until the world realizes that, Africa as a continent will continue to be backward and disrespected in the world affairs.

How about representing Njikoka LGA in '75 mosquito team (greater tomorrow)against Onitsha LGA at Onitsha township Stadium and kicking asx.
How about trying out for both Rangers and Vasco before checking out of the country. And how about playing in the NCAA here in the states as a kicker during my college days here. You may have noticed that I choose not to mention my high school football exploits just to keep my handle as is.
