How else can one be a good Biafran? Pete(r) Jake Amadi, a native of Owerri Province of Biafra is a naturalised US citizen and a Ist Leutnant in the dreaded US marine corp.He left the shores of Nigeria in the early 1990s to Europe in search of the proverbial golden fleece. That is not, however,to say that he had not fully experienced the dire economic conditions prevalent in the Biafran enclave also called the South Eastern Nigeria.Pete, an old boy of Comprehensive Secondary shool Iho Dimeze in Ikeduru Imo State sat for his West African examination in 1986 and came out in flying colours.Despite his brilliance the oppressive Nigerian system has no accommodation for him.As the saying goes, you cannot surpress a talent.Mr Amadi started plotting his exit , realising early enough that he could not actualise his potential in Nigeria. As his very close associate, I still recall how he would sit over a map for hours tracing the easiest route to the US.At that time he was convinced that the Carribean countries provided that gateway to his choice country but because of constraints, he chose to build up his finance by trading across the West African Boarders. That was in the early 1990s.In the course of this adventure, Pete at various occasion had a close brush with death both in sierre Leone and Liberia as he ran into rampaging armies ,official and unofficial. At such times his business would always come to a ruin. But just like the mythical phoenix Pete would resurrect his trade from the ashes of ruin and match on.Around 1993 he made a re-entry into Spain (having previously suffered an unjust deportation) from FreeTown. This time around he was luckier as he was able to receive some assistance from a well meaning Spaniad. He was to leave for the US in 1995 after a modicum of success in Spain for further studies at Abraham Baldwin College United States. After naturalising as a US citizen he joined the US Navy and later the marine Corp. Now a 1st Leutnant of immense attainment,Peter's active duties ends early next year after which he will have time for his pet project aimed at the eradication of poverty in the South Easthern Nigeria, also called Biafra.According to a statement released on his website he is to raise funds towards the advancement of science and technology in Biafra which according to him remain the only viably means of jump-starting our economy. He is of the view that what we need as a people is not cash and food aid but transfer of technology which will in turn lead to the overall transformation of our people. As a result the funds to be raised by his organisation will be used to computerise our primary and secodary shools, build state-of-the-art Libraries and raise the general studying condition in Biafra. Already he has announced a raffle draw to be held at Concord Hotel Owerri some times next year to raise awareness for the project. The first two winners would enjoyed a sponsored trip abroad while others would receive various cash gifts. To undrescore the seriousness of the project some prominent sons of Igboland including Chief John Ewurum have been appointed co-ordinators of the project. In the said statement this illustrous returnee Biafran pleaded with Igbos to embrace this project and lend their active spport to ensure its success. He specifically asked for the spread of this goodnews so that every Biafran can take advantage of it.He also invited all and sundry to visit his website at www.riverniger.org for details I want to use this forum therefore to solicit for support for this our son( who will one day be a very vital tool in the actualisation of Biafra should the hegemons want it the other way ) and urge other privileged Igbos to emulate his footsteps. Pete anyi'n asi gi jide nke iji. Ya gaziere gi. Anyi ne etu gi aha ugbua: nwanne di na mba.

I think people should stop promoting Nigeria stuff in the forum. Mr Godson you submitted a link that have nothing to do with Biafra or Igbo, as you stated in your article. Rather a sight talking about Nigeria and personal profile of one man.
If you want to tell us that your buddy is in the US Marines and he has opened a business and wants us to patronize him, that is fine with me. But, why did you choose a bogus title for this thread? Your title is "A US MARINE REMEMBERS BIAFRA." May be you can show us where Pete Amadi remembered Biafra on his website. I could not find it. By the way, how does a man born in 1971 remember something that happened before he was born? BiafraNigerians who declare a false date of birth should learn to stop remembering things that happened supposedly before they were born.

Dave,
I could not have said any better. You see they lie as time goes on they forget what lies they already told by stating something quite contradictory to say a fake age that the publicly assumed.
The truth will always come out.

Please pass this to the Amadi chap (His self serving advert., does not merit the Rank he purportedly earned nor the uniform).
Amadi, if you really came through the academy or OCS, I guess you slept through military VALUES training. Especially the one on SELFLESS service!
May I suggest you dust off your officer’s hand book and review these:
Loyalty
Duty
Selfless Service
Honor
Integrity
Personal Courage
Am sure a quick reflection will lead to your replacing those pictures with an apology to our comrades in arms past, present and future. Using those pictures to further your personal goals most likely confirms the Cadre’s suspensions during training - you were there for self gratification.
When the Academy becomes aware of your self promoting pictures, what do you think will happen to the next Amadi coming through our beloved Corps?
If your intent is good, do it quietly, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing! Sound familiar?

You did not disappoint my view about you young man your counsel is wisdom at its best and I am proud to still have you on-board. The self-purporting advert is reminiscent of Phillip Emeagwali's site, which elevates the negative perception of those whose self-aggrandizements lead to overstatements. Good job!

I am glad you guys saw the need to caution this fellow, especially Ochiagha who has been there and served selflessly. There can be nothing positive about this kind of behaviour and those who engage in it need to be publicly chastised to save everyone else from being tainted.
There is a terrible disease spreading in Igboland and it needs to be checked quickly. All these acts of mass deceit and telling lies must quickly come to an end. Ndigbo were never known to indulge in this amount of self aggrandisement, what happened ? It used to be that a man's work spoke for itself apparently not anymore.

Dear compatriots, I was (initially) shocked by the nagative reaction the info I posted elicited from distinguished members of this forum.Sooner I came to realise that a certain measure of disillusionment with the past was playing a major role in the verdict being passed. But that could have been avoided or downplayed if certain salient issues were considered.Members were right to have pointed out their areas of concern but to foreclose the seriousness or success of the project seems to be in bad taste.I am persuaded that no matter the dictates of past experience, each individual ought to be given a benefit of doubt.Members were particularly irked by some of the photographs posted on the wed which have every air of a personal affair.I would have wish that they be construed from another perspective. It is obvious from the pix that Pete is a young man still subject to exuberance and overactivity of youth.Again since the project is at the formative stage, it would have been better to see our contribution from the stand point of offering a critical analysis with a view to putting it on the right track. It seems to me that credit should be attached to even the attempt to remember home or nurse a creative idea to develop ones motherland.Somebody wrote that he did not see anything Biafra in the project.I refer him to the ABC.. of Biafra geo-pility. Is the South-East no longer Biafra or do we deny Pete Biafran nationality? I was also accused of promoting a buddy. If every other member saw it as such, so be it.What I thought I did was to forward the project and the founder to you as one would forward a new book.Having told him earlier of how vibrant this website was I considered it a mark of honour and recognition that members of this forum were given a fore knowledge and asked to contribute. We have to be careful here to avoid a pitfall of throwing the baby away with the dirty water or visiting the sins of yore on generations unborn .I INSIST we must build a culture of credibility here to the extent that we can vouch for the character of those we know and others will respect it or at least not gloss over it.Through it, this sacred place can become a clearing house of ideas and projects and members would not fear to approach it for valuable information.I would not know if I approached the threshold of advert as alleged but it matters little since the project is public and none- for- profit. However, I humbly submit that my wisdom is not greater than the pool of wisdom available to this forum. Having said that, I will employ you to accept the hand of fellowship extended to you to make this project a success. The robust and fertile quality of the minds here attracted that invitation and we cannot now renege on our commitment to greater happiness for a greater number of Biafran people. Pete is very receptive to ideas and has even accepted my sugestion to appoint credible Biafrans into the Board of Trustees. Please continue to visit the web to see its transformation in the days just ahead. Ndewonu!

Enyia Olia?
It seems you wrote out of anger we all sometimes do to let off steam before we inadvertently hurt someone who's innocent. Your solicitous request by the respected members of this board to offer "critical analysis" is exactly what they did and you somewhat found offensive. It behooves you then to reach back to this fella whom obviously you referred as exhibiting youthful exuberance considering this therefore, it becomes encumbered on your person as his elder/buddy/relation or whatever to guide him taking these words of wisdom to heart. Please understand that most writers here based on what you and I have experienced so far are not schooled in double-speak anything with the appearance of hypocrisy is detested regardless who is involved. So take it light all is not lost my dear brother, just reach out to the young fella with better prepositions. "Ana lee? Ala Owere ari oso ogba."

Honestly, you and that guy, Pete, are big jokes. You guys planned to finance your business by selling raffles tickets to the very vulnerable Nigerians in Nigeria by promising a two-week vacation to any overseas country. Even, Pete promised to follow any winner to that country (referring to the USA).
Well, I have a question for you and Pete. Assume that John Doe or Jane Doe (living in Nigeria) wins a raffle for a two-week visit to the United States, what does Pete do?
So, Pete goes to Lagos or Abuju and tells the United States embassy officials that he is a retired U.S. marine and recommends that a visa be issued?
Look man, you all need to find a more convincing approach as it already being branded as person aggrandisement which I belive it is.
