Farmer, 70, commits suicide
Stories by David Atalese, Ado-Ekiti
After raping a 12-year-old girl, a 70-year-old farmer in Ido-Ekiti in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State, has committed suicide to avoid the shame and escape the wrath of the people.
Daily Independent learnt that the man, Ojo Fadahunsi, had about two weeks ago called the girl (name withheld) to send her on an errand, but unknown to the little girl it was a ploy to rape her.
It was further gathered that when the girl obeyed the summons, the man pounced on her and forcefully took her to the bedroom and had sexual intercourse with her, leading to profuse bleeding from her private part.
The girl’s parents raised alarm and reported the matter to the police at Ido-Ekiti when they noticed the bleeding.
Attempts by the police to arrest and prosecute Ojo failed as he allegedly killed himself by drinking substances believed to be poison.
Also, attempts to save his life failed at the Federal Medical Centre, Ido-Ekiti where he was confirmed dead by a doctor.
The source further hinted that the man had before the incident, also raped a five-year-old girl and when caught he pleaded with the parents of the victim to forgive him, attributing his action to the handiwork of Satan.
Thereafter, he was said to have become born-again, claiming he would never relapse into raping infant girls again, until the recent incident, which led to his death.
Efforts made to contact the Divisional Police Officer at Ido proved abortive as he was said to be unavailable, but a police constable confirmed the incident and a source at the Federal Medical Centre confirmed the story.

My brother, may I draw your attention to Topic: Who are the Yorubas? Then scroll down to June 25, 2004 12:05 AM to read Ednut’s followed by mine. This would answer your curiosity, nothing new about them. Thanks to the respected Bini Oba, the Yoroba lies have been busted.
