There he goes again! Is Soyinka a jobber? Does this mean that if IBB apologizes, Soyinka will once again accept a job in the IBB junta when IBB becomes "civilian president?"
quote:
Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has asked former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, before contesting for the presidency in 2007, to tender an unreserved public apology to BiafraNigerians, for the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election results. The Babangida administration's annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, believed to have been worn by the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola, threw the nation into a major crisis. Several groups have been projecting Babangida's candidacy for the 2007 presidency. Soyinka who spoke in Kadu-na yesterday explained that an apology was a pre-requisite for Babangida's participation in the 2007 presidential race. The Nobel Laureate spoke at the Kaduna Metropolitan Club as part of his 70th birthday anniversary visit to Kaduna. According to Soyinka, Babangida has no
Who appointed Soyinka judge of who can or cannot run for an office in Nigeria? Will Soyinka be campaigning for IBB in 2007?

Soyinka spoke in his capacity as a Nigerian and under a Democratic environment. Those are his views.
Let's face facts though; as an elder statesman who has seen it all, it would seem to me that he has earned his stripes.

Daud:

My brother I believe the very venerable Soyinka to be a TACTICIAN, a trained STRATEGIST who simply set the bar high for IBB knowing full well that in his (IBB's) foolish and inane pride he will never find it gracious to say one simple word that comprises five letters "sorry" to the nigerians whom he look down upon. So please let's tread cautious before you inadvertently invite those that would cease on this opportunity to lob premature insults at oga Wole. He knows what he’s doing I too could read him even if IBB met this condition more will be added by raising the bar a notch thereby making it the more difficult for him.

BTW didn't you know the big time political prostitute, the godfather of jobbers omo omuriyi hauled his ass back there to ferment more trouble with his early shout for support for the same man Wole is slowly working on? This idiot is a very selfish individual who looks out for self only. What say ya?

The speed with which IBB has indicated his willingness to "apologize" makes me wonder what private conversation IBB may have had with Soyinka.

Barely 24 hours after Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, asked him to apologise to Nigerians for annulling the June 12, 1993 presidential election, former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, is set to eat the humble pie.

Daily Sun learnt authoritatively that Babangida will apologise for voiding the 1993 polls won by Bashorun M.K.O Abiola shortly before he throws his hat into the ring for the nation’s number one position in 2007

Soyinka has gone from activist to tribal demagogue. One must point out that Soyinka has always reserved his harshest criticisms for Abacha while treating IBB with soft gloves, and even working for IBB sometimes.

Points might exist in the views you articulate however all I am saying is that we should carefully watch without the early persecutions. What if, just what if Soyinka has one up his sleeves unknown to IBB? A proper hard nosed response should be expected should Wole betray the respect we hold for him. Dig?

I have the same premonition when I read about the “visiting father” request of apology from his former boss IBB. To be candid, I think it is a bait set and perfected at the Hilltop in Minna, and if the masses fall for it, it would be a clear way for IBB candidature as it’s been speculated.

Personally I have no qualms with IBB contesting the election because so far he has not been found guilty of any offence by a court of law. However, it would be interesting to see how possible is for IBB in his wildest imagination to rule Nigeria again after he scuttled the inconclusive election of June 1993.
