A friend was visiting us last week from Nigeria and as usual the talk drifted to the "marginalization" of NdiIgbo. I laid out what the federal government did not do in Igboland and indeed throughout the former Eastern region.

1. For 44 years only a two lane bridge still connects the entire former Eastern Region to to the rest of Nigeria. Yes, a two lane bridge.

2, For 44 years every Igbo person wishing to travel out of Nigeria must go to either Lagos or to Port Harcourt. Igbo is the second largest nation in Nigeria.

3. River Niger at Onitsha/Asaba was supposed to have been dredged to improve inland water communication and merchandize. River Niger has not been dredged up till today.

4. Ajaokuta still mill, Aladja Still mill, River Niger dam, and a host of federal government funded industries abound in Lagos, Ibadan, Kaduna and Kano. When on earth will the federal government of Nigeria fund any undertaken east of the Niger. I am yet to hear or see any thing that can be compared to all that I mention above.

5. Eastern Economic corridor. Is it just Lagos, Ibadan, Kaduna and Kano that needs federally funded initiatives? How about the people of Easter Nigeria. Not one federally funded multi billion dollar project in the entire Easter Nigeria. Please correct me if I am wrong.

6. Why does Nigeria "freak out" when a person of Igbo background is vying for the presidency? Why has the Igbo been unable to make it to the highest office of the land?

At the end of my enumerations, my visitor was not impressed to say the least. She started out by saying that Igbos are their own worst enemies. She mentioned uncontrollable greed and self-centeredness as the problem why none of these things I mentioned above did not happen. By the way this nice lady is Igbo and had worked exensively in Lagos at high positions. Very well educated.

She was so adamant that she was absolutely correct that she dropped a bombshell - She asked me to do one thing. She asked me to do a research on the Bills from representives and senators representing NdiIgbo. She challenged me that I will hardly see any thing remotely like the six projects mentioned above.

I was stunned. Totally fatigued and taken aback so much so that I decided to take a look at what she is saying. Are you with me? I promised that I will look into it.

Now Ndibanyi, first of all, how can we know. How do we get these BILlS surreptitiously. For 4 years our representatives and senators have been claiming this marginalisation thing. How do we know weather they actuall do bring these things up at in Abuja. Let us go into the actuall mechanics of the marginalization.

For instance, some Igbo Senator introduces Enugu Internation Airpor Bill, how, when and who voted it down. Things like that.

This is not my stuff gentlemen, but I think you get the idea. What do you say?

I do not know how much you know about this place, but I doubt any serious forumer is interested in what the efulefus at the BiafraNigeria legislature are doing. Apart from the legislature being Aremu's rubber stamp, those folks were never elected by anyone. Is your efulefu high society lady friend aware of how the so called representatives got to Abuja ?

Chris Ubah already told everybody how he took the Anambra legislators to Okijah and the rest is history. Yes the efulefu class is selfish and short sighted and your lady friend without knowing it is already displaying these qualities, so she probably fits well with status quo. The masses of Ndigbo who answered to MASSOB's call know better than to worry about efulefu's and their opinion. The train already pulled out of the station and it does not matter how many Niger bridges or steel mills they build, all we want is freedom from the suffocating mediocrity. Please , please, let this not be another lecture on Igbo presidency or I am just gonna puke all over this thread.

I understand what you mean.

You are correct but we need to know if the representative/legislators and Senators do even know what NdiIgbo need. We need to know if any of those legislative Bills included all or some of these projects that we often enumerate in this forum. I am interested in understanding the mechanism of the marginalization. I want to know who and when a project Bill is introduce and I want to know too who opposed the building any of these projects. Wouldn't want to have such information? I would.

Do you know how we can get hold of these legislative Bills? Is it on the internet, or can we ask some person in Nigeria to access them for us. These is vitally important to me and to some Igbos because it will be an eye opener to know how a project is opposed or advanced.

I already told you they are neither representatives nor legislators for Ndigbo and as such nobody cares what they legislate or not. We prefer to direct our efforts in more meaningfull directions like the actualization of Biafra. If however you would rather waste your time researching efulefu behaviour why not get together with your lady high society friend and carry out your research. I am sure she knows a few well connected people who can give you the information you are looking for.

Even better do the research yourself, I am sure you are old enough to do it and know how to use the internet. When you are done you may publish your findings wherever you wish. While you are at it you may also want to research how the legislature works in a kai kai republic, for starters Saddam's legislature will be a good case study for your research.

Chiboy,
Please save your breath. If talkondo or whatever is trying to show ignorance of the monumental fraudulent selection called election of 2003,then you shouldn`t join issues with him.

How did even the so called senate president emerge?Someone who lost an election and the case was still in Umuahia electoral tribunal.Suddenly the notorious justice Egbo Egbo of the Abuja high court, who did not even have jurisdiction over the case ruled that Wagbara should be declared winner by INEC.Two days after the infamous judgement before any appeal could be contemplated,Wagbara was unanimously selected as the senate president of the kaikai republic.Recall, that Obasanjo had earlier told the Ebonyi people in Abakaliki a few months prior that he had "bad" senate presidents from the zone. And urged Igbos not to "re-elect" them.As if any votes cast by the people was going to make any difference at all.

Look at ALL the political office holders in the south east and even to a great extent in the southsouth and southwest(Except Bola Tinubu and few lagos senators and Reps.) and tell me who truely won any bloody election? Where was he when chris Uba made the following statements.

Please save your breath. These Lagos efulefus who take joy in "undermining" the case of serious under development in the southeast would soon find to their utter dismay that their naturalized Lagos citizenship and fluency in yoruba language, would not save them from Yoruba reasoning that we are all in the same boat when the day of reckoning comes.

Hapu Okwu...

Umuigbo:

The stated issue in this thread is to first, determine the exact mechanism of this "marginalization" In other words who are these people ripping us off. How did they get to do it.

We know that we are marginalized, there is no two ways about it given the utter decay and neglect of Igboland. But it is very useful to know who stopped these Igbo projects and when. Was it Yoruba, Hausa or others including ndiIgbo?

More importantly, did any Igbo representatives/Senator ever introduce a Bills or Bills (containing these prime and important projects) Were they ever discussed, were they ever voted for or against.

If the answer is NO, (which is what I presume is the belief of some people) then, we are in a whole lot of trouble. "Marginalization" may not be our only problem. It is so sad.

Tarakwando,

How many times do you expect to be told that Igbo did not send anybody to Abuja or should we expect more from you?.

You are absolutely right, Those parading in Abuja as senators and House Rep members were not sent there by Igbos. Ndi-Igbo voted massively to send APGA to Abuja and Government Houses in Abakaliki, Enugu, Awka, Owerri and Umuahia. But the faud master Obasanjo stole it and gave it to his stooges.
