Folks,

United States Presidential Election of November 2nd is only a fews days away hence this is the right to make your predictions.

Don't wait and be a band-wagoner on November 3rd as to who your pick is. Stand up and be counted, the time for smack and yapping is over it is now time for you to record your prediction.

Lets make it interest, when you make you prediction as to the winner, you might want to predict the electoral college vote your pick will receive.

To prove that I'm not all talk, I will start off with my prediction. Here it is

Kerry wins 325 to 213 electoral votes.

What say you all? Especially my Republican friends.

Teddy:

After reading your list, the only conclusion any one can come to is that the Democrats are attacked not because of their lack of patriotism or love of country, but because they tend to preach or pay lip service to equality with the yoroba-like characters that populate the leadership ranks of the black community. The list clearly shows that it is the Republicans who love America for what they get from it, and consistently pass up the opportunity to the middle class and the minorities when it's time to taking up arms to defend it.

Let me play the politician and predict 300 for Kerry to bush's 238 given the relentless and momentuum building hard work of Kerry.

I have never seen any other presidential candidate get down to the grind (and I've seen Mondale, Dukakis, Clinton, Dole, and Gore) and almost single handedly earn his respect by sheer dint of rugged and unrelenting hard work as Kerry, and he will therefore deserve his win (I dont know why the guy just reminds me of Abraham lincoln in his dignified but somber carriage).

Now here comes the big "however" part.

However, If the Republican party especially the RADCON branch (once labeled hillybillies by Chiboy) which also includes the old "yellow dog" democrats (of the deep south) should whup out their dirty tricks campaign in full force which I'm already seeing them do by pre-emptively deploying lawyers and local secretaries of the different states under their control to intimidate voters using assorted tactics, then am afraid Bush might win again by a slim margin say 278 to kerrys 260.

The Republicans just know how to do these things better, unless like Damian once suggested, the Dems make sure that James Carville shows them some "ragin' cajun" backwater baddddboy tricks.

The "Yellow dog" democrats (or "conservative democrats" read Zell Miller of Georgia types) were known to hold that they'll rather vote for yellow dogs than for Republicans(seen as Lincolns party that defeated the old Democratic South and emancipated the Slaves).

To that end, they represented the descendants of bitter whites many of whom participated in the 50's 60's and 70's in the most hateful racist and segregationist jim crow crimes against Blacks and other minorities.

The voting records of many still living reflect more of what you would expect to find in the Republican party of Ronald Reagan which George Bush Jr. started sanitizing all the way from his days as Texas governor(much to his credit, as he had to do dangerous battle with the confederate conservative Christian coalition then represented in Texas by Tom Pauken, to gain assertion and become his own man)

The newfound affinity to the Republican party by white southerners has its genesis from Strom Thurmonds redefinition of that party toward a segregationist direction, but many whites and avowed racists remained in the democratic party for sentimental reasons of family honor (to oppose Abe Lincoln) handed down by their ancestors dislike of Republicans and Yankees.

This is why when Reagan made it fashionable to switch to the Republican party without a sense of guilt, many neo-confederate racists disguised as "cultural conservatives" and "Religious conservatives" joined together with the naturally Republican "Fiscal conservatives" to begin to form a more formiddable majority party from the 80's 90's and 2000's and came to make the term "Liberal" so distasteful as to make its adherrents flee for cover.

Many die-hard sentimentalists like Zell Miller still thrive but are quickly dying out. It would be the Black fool who simple-mindedly imagined he was in the "common man's party" with those guys back in the day, because all they did was patronize use and abuse Blacks, till Jesse Jackson truly put them to the test in the 80's, and made them flee into the Republican party where they truly belonged, and from where they still got their sympathetic friends to vote for Reagan/Bush snr. again and again.

Today, Zell millers sentiments still lies with upholding his confederate forefather's honor by staying democrat to spite Lincoln in his grave, but his spirit is back where it belongs; with his old buddies now almost completely Republican.

This is why in the rural areas where residues of subdued but potent racism still thrive, democrats practically have no voice, unless they do like Clinton and use their code words such as "welfare reform", "Affirmative action reform", "personal responsibility", family values" etc. to cloud the issues till the elections are won.

Vey close, probably the most closest election since Truman. This election is likely to go to the electoral college.

GW. Bush at every advantage. If it is a tie, George W. wins the election. I predict GW by a slim margin.

I will not even bother to guess who will win. If Kerry loses or if Osama's 'October Surprise' has an adverse effect on Kerry's electoral fortunes, Kerry can blame himself for starting his campaign on the premise that he could out-Bush Bush. When he came to his senses and started distinguishing himself from Bush, many in his audience had moved on.

Lengend has it that the incumbent in a presidential race prevails whenever the Washington Redskins are victorious in their last home game before November 2 of an election year. In particular, the reverse is also said to be true. Well, Good for Kerry! Green Bay demolished the Skins today at Fedex Field.

Then again, legend also had it that the Red Sox were cursed and would never win the World Series. I will vote for Kerry. But, I will have no tears for him if he loses.

Thanks for your vote. Just like I told everyone in here longtime ago that your vote is a Republican vote Kerry will count on from the Republicans in this forum.

Don't worry my friend your vote is going to the winning and next President of United States.

As the two contestants sprint towards the finish line, we have seen an election campaign that has been extremely CLOSE to call. I fully expect that the votes cast tomorrow would also show a very close election.

This Independent has made up his mind to vote for Kerry. The way I see it however, we may not have a clear winner tomorrow. The key to a Kerry victory is massive voter turnout, and from the look of things, it seems that this election would have a record turnout. Barring any extraneous factors, I expect Kerry to coast on to victory.

I am going to keep this short and simple. If this election generates the sort of rancor and bad blood after the votes have been cast, like the 2000 general elections, then by all means there really needs to be some electoral reforms. The House and Senate have been dillydallying on this subject, and I am sure I am not the only person who is quite frankly fed up with the Electoral College system.

Like others have observed, I won't be terribly surprised either if Bush wins, but I do hope for his own sakes that if he wins, he wins decisively--nothing mired in angry disputations and charges of electoral fraud.

I am tired of the whole politics of divisiveness that pitches brother against brother, and I hope that for the greater good of this country, of which most of us are law abiding CITIZENS, whoever emerges tomorrow as the president of the US, would have a clear mandate to unite this country as we tackle the problems both domestic and abroad.

Like Puffy would say, please VOTE OR DIE!

Ndi be anyi, see una for voting booth tomorrow o.

May the best man win, and may God bless us all!

Anaedo,

Ezigbo nwannemmadu AAAAMEM (Amen) is what I say to that prayer.

If the house and senate had been Democrat dominated, they would have steered the country a little more toward center to center left, even though I tend to lean more toward center right.

In that case, Bush would have been his real self and been able to assuage the cultural right together with the religious right by blaming the democrats for veering him more toward the center.

In that case, even I would have considered voting him back in, as I believe he would have had a similar economic efffect as Clinton under those circumstances.

As it is, I am not necessarily beholden to any party, but individually assess each candidates past records. In Bush's case I know for a fact that he fought off the cultural and Religious conservatives when he came into power in Texas and especially disliked the weakening influence these entities had detrimentally exerted on his dad hypocritical entities which while espousing Christian and moral cultural values, have traditionally hidden behind that cloak to house the most racist extremists in America.

I call them hypocritical racist extremists because I remember Pat Robertson who helped Mobutu Sese-seko hijack diamonds out of the old Zaire (and mostly into his own coffers) when laurent Desire Kabila was about to overthrow Mobutu, and who also labelled Nelson Mandela a communist for using the word "comrades" to address Walter Sissulu in his maiden speech immediately after he was freed from Robben Island.

I also remember Jerry Falwell of the so-called "moral majority" who went to South Africa during the worst days of apatheid, only to return to the US announcing that he did'nt witness any racial discrimination over there.

Not to talk of Pat Buchannan and the rest of the avowed crew of "Social/Cultural conservatives" many of whom during the years of Reagan, and during the years of Newt Gingrich coined the political passwords with which whites could communicate to each other at all levels about minorities without breaking civil rights laws, and many of whom support all the exportation of arms that cause brutal conflict in places like Sierra-Leone, Angola, Congo etcetera. and finally many of whom dont care if as supposed "Christians" they're supporting Mulim groups in conflict with fellow Christians as long as they have a vital financial interest such as oil or other minerals and as long as it is "only" Africans being killed.

These are the very ones behind the so-called religious right movement, and until they recognize the inhumane impact of their deliberate hypocrisy, I would continue to view that aspect of the Republican party with suspicion. [Frown]

Ukaobasi my brother,

Nevertheless, I have a problem with the Democratic Party. Not that I want Bush to win or the so-called "religious right" are a bunch of racists and extremists but the fact is democrats are always complaining, yet they don't want to get things done by way of motivating and mobilizing the hoodcats to bring about change.

So far, in my own assessment, Kerry should have led in the polls way before the rush hour. He started slowly and cautiously as if he was the incubent. With the polls so close and the election some hours away, I predict there is going to be a deadock.

1. Kerry wins the majority vote

2. Bush takes the highest digits in the electoral vote but not enough to declare him winner.

3. The House of Representatives tosses the final battle and Bush wins with a Republican majority in the House.

4. The Redskins-Packers oracle gimmick is flawed.

Brother Ojoto,

Long time my brother. I hear you loud and clear, and your predictions are very feasible as anything is possible in this particular duel depending on what the Democrats are willing to cover their nostrils and do.

I always wondered why many Democrats thought Reagan was such a good guy and crossed over repeatedly to vote for him.

The longer I stayed in the US, the more it finally occurred to me that not less than half of the people in the Democratic party are actually Republicans ie if a Republican candidate or incumbent recognizes not to step on their particular toes.

That same reason is why Democrats are so split on the right way to fight back when the Republicans start hitting them hard, and why they ultimately end up looking so disorganized and wimpy.

Here is what Will Rogers said of the Democratic party:

  • "I'm not a member of any organized political party, I'm a Democrat!"

Here is what Robert Frost said of Liberals typically to be found in the Democratic party:

  • "Liberal is a man too broadminded to take his own side in a quarrel."

The one thing about this particular election is that I've never seen Democrats this maddd ever! this has made it an exciting bout for one to watch.
Howard Dean was the only candidate who most closely approximated its extent successfully, the fight which it took Kerry to wrest that baton from him during the primaries, is what told me Kerry had a ghost of a chance as a fearless fighter who would'nt give up easily.

Bush who probably thought he would have an easy go of it now looks more and more like someone who just wrestled ten giants and is praying profusely for the referee to ring the bell. [Smile]

As a Catholic BiafranAmerican,

I went in to an elementary school this morning and cast my sacred vote for John Kerry and John Edwards.

While I'm anti-abortion and anti gay marriage (pro gay union though), I am also anti Haliburton taking over healthcare and social security through the crony system. I'm also anti squandering the surplusses (approx 230 billion) turned over by Bill Clinton upon departure, to now bring us to (approx 430 billion) deficits.

Finally, inasmuch as I've learnt to be open to both parties in order to pick and choose the combination that works best for my own specific ideologies, I had determined after the 2000 elections to make this particular election a protest vote for the manner in which BlackAmerican voters were openly intimidated by a combination of police, state officials, and Republican election assignees.

When I went in to vote, I had a scowl on my face, as I was ready to do physical battle with anybody I saw doing something similar in my area. Unfortunately no one aggravated me.

I hope if Kerry wins, he would not disrespect my vote. in any case as the eminent Anaedo stated; May the best man win

Speaking about the Igbo vote in America, If a census of Igbos was conducted, I have no doubt that the Igbo population over here well trumps the Cuban American population with all the noise those admirable people make.

Imagine if as Igbos we were able to subbordinate our individual votes to occassionally come together and channel our votes to a targetted cause.

If we dare to imagine, I bet we would get someones attention. Quickly too.
