Obasanjo dragged to court over poverty in the land By Adesina Aiyekoti, Lagos Thursday, December 9, 2004
•Obasanjo Breaking News Index
An aggrieved Nigerian businessman, Mr. Oluseye Isaac, has dragged President Olusegun Obasanjo, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Akin Olujinmi, to court over allegation of improper running of the economy. He is seeking judicial pronouncement dissolving the Federal Government.
The plaintiff, who filed the suit through his counsel, V.O.A Ogunade at the Federal High Court, Abuja, under the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act and the 1999 Constitution, also prayed for leave to enforce his fundamental human rights against the respondents.
Other reliefs being sought include: • A declaration that the way and manner the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is being run by the respondents has violated the applicant’s right to dignity to his person, right to private and family life and right to freedom of movement as guaranteed by sections 34, 37 and 41 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 and Articles 2, 5, 12 of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights Act Cap 10 LFN. 1990;
• A declaration that the political and economic policy of the respondents violates the applicant’s right to enjoy the best attainable state of physical and mental health, protection by the state and a favourable environment for his development as guaranteed by Articles 16 and 24 of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights;
• A declaration that the respondents have not been able to run the affairs of the state called the Federal Republic of Nigeria; • A declaration that the respondents, not being able to run the affairs of the state called Federal Republic of Nigeria are not fit and proper persons to hold such sensitive offices; and • An order directing that a council of stakeholders, to include the applicant, be formed to run the affairs of the state called the Federal Republic of Nigeria pending the conduct of another election.
The plaintiff anchored his claim on the grounds that "the way and manner the affairs of the state are being run by the respondents have dimmed" his dignity and that his fortune has gone down to the extent that he has become "on object of scorn and ridicule in the eyes of his friends, colleagues and family members." In the application, supported with a 33-paragraph affidavit, the plaintiff averred that as a result of poor state of road, many accidents occur daily, leading to deaths, injuries and loss of goods. He deposed further that President Obasanjo has demonstrated no regard for the sanctity and dignity of his person and or human being, adding that due to bad road, he (plaintiff) was involved in a road accident sometime in 2001, while pursing a business. No date has been fixed for the hearing of the suit.

Unfortunately the kangaroo courts in Nigeria are all in Obasanjo's pocket. I wish the case is filed outside Nigeria. At least nothing else to embarrass that buffoon.
Why are you wishing for someone else to do it for you? What is stopping you from for once in your life taking a stand on something you believe in? Instead of cursing the man OBJ out, drag him to court here in the good old US of A.
Did you guys even notice that it was his fellow Yoruba that took him to court?

MeBiarfa and Biafra:
Won't the whole world be boring if all should think and write like u guys. A little spice and difference of opinion makes for a better Nigeria and indeed a better Igbo nation.
We all don't have to agree, so long as we have the best interest of our people at heart, and are ready to do something about it.

Follow my posts guy, I am not against you or even Bolaji. All I call for the latter to do is exercise restrain and follow addy’s good leadership. We can never, ever think, act, talk alike, agreed so what are you saying again?

I did and I applaud that bold move. What Biafra is saying is that the courts in Nigeria are compromised. Nothing will come out of it, in fact the appellant might end up in jail if caution is not heeded. Too hard to understand?

Nigeria courts are not the appropriate place to humiliate Obusonjo. Ndiigbo should sue him in American court on a personal ground and get a judgment against him.
Anyhow, why close the Rudolf Okonkwo's thread. I wanted to know more about him. There is no need to close it because this forum has so many topics one logon to express himself. You guys should reopen that topic.

I think if you follow the way the administrator of this site do things, you will know that closing Rudolf thread is consistent. The same way they closed the welcome Aluko thread, because it degenerated into a personal attacks and insult. So you should have opened a thread here dealing with an Individual who is not a public figure.
I think you are completely wrong. More than likely, the thread was closed to protect Rudolf. He did not do too well the last time, and he was here to defend himself.

This surely will clear the air.

This is just a reminder that it is violative of BNW Forums rules to create a thread whose evident and primary objective is to goad members of these forums into debates over spurious information from unknown or unreliable sources.

I think you just got suckered in by Nwa-Afor with his request.
Nwa-Afor knows how to get his pms, he has been here before and knows how to operate the functions of this forum. He is just putting a smokescreen so people will think that he is really new to this forum.

You are probably right ! Most of the guys here are thugs, with a propensity to return to their vomit.
Nwa-Afor:
Don't mind NwaBiafra, the "ego-grubbing" caterwauler who wants your money for a simple service !
That is a fellow Ndigbo for you...
Anyway, when logged onto BNW, you will see at the top left corner of the page a flashing indicator that you have a PM. THen click on it and it will take you to the PM area.
Watch out though - these guys here read PM messages, so don't think that it is a secure route to convey your messages. Use it under advice. When I was in Nigeriaworld, my PM messages were read - and the gang here are no better.
