Audu Ogbeh`s resignation is another testimony to the age long adage that those who ride on the back of the lion end up in it`s stomach.
I feel sad though that Chief Ogbeh had to quit because of Obasanjo`s pressure. There was no shred of doubt in my mind that the murderer of Abuja would soon organise another "fatal armed robbery attack" for chief Ogbeh had he not quit.
Now like Gen.Theophilus Danjuma another bossom friend of Obasanjo who ended up in his stomach,Ogbeh would now see reason with hapless Nigerians on our undeserved plight under this PDP maladministration.
Those Governors especially Chimaroke Nnamani who imagines that by insulting his ancestors and Ikemba he would escape the voracious appetite of this Aso Rock beast should better learn from history before it becomes late.History never changes,it merely repeats itself on those who refused to learn.

Ukaobasi:

U may be right. I may have been brainwashed after so many years of living in Nija. After so many years of witnessing the frustration most Nigerians suffer at the hand of our kleptomaniac selfish politicians. Since we all agree that our system is messed up, we should all approach the solution through a proactive approach. name callings and finger pointings will never help us , rather , while we fight each other the politicians will continue to have a field day.

I know many guys here profer the separation solution. Me think that will end up costing us more, But i will be all for it if it is our last resort. For now i am, in my own little way, campaigning for Gani. It may seem like a wasted effort, but it is better than acquising with the career politicians who have put us in the current quagmire. Only Gani has promised to try past leaders; convene an SNC; eliminate poverty through prioritized agenda and as seasoned fighter for social justice, marshal out a new blue print for a progressive nija.

Njiko,

Nwannaa you definitely have a way with words, what can one add to that other than to substitute lion with hyena.

Obasanjo is no lion, merely a scavenging and opportunistic hyena which he would remain for the rest of his life.

Note that those who chose to ride on the back of this dastardly hyena called Obasanjo never hesitated for one moment to offer free "political advise" to Igbos, ironically regarding how to be more accepted by "Nigerians" and or how to be more politically astute like them in order to succeed in "Nigerian" politics.

Nwa-Afor I dont agree! Personally I believe:

  • Ojukwu must resign!
  • Ralph Uwazurike must resign!
  • Wada Nas must resign!
  • Okadigbo must resign!
  • Colonel Umar must resign!
  • Gani must resign!
  • Nd'Igbo must resign!
  • MASSOB must resign!
  • Wole Soyinka must resign!
  • Who have I missed? They must all resign!
Please dont retract now. I've told you am behind your leadership and forward march-hood or is it ness.

The system is operating beautifully, afterall America has had 200 years to sort out things. The problem are the people who criticise Obasanjo. They must all resign honorably like Audu Ogbeh, all including Peter Obi, being guilty as you had insinuated in an earlier post.

Tell the truth and it shall set you freedom! [Big Grin]
"Eziokwu bu ndu"!
And yes "I am my own man" and "I tell it like it is". You know, something like that anyway. [Smile]

Ukaobasi:

Your sense of humor, or is it jesting is comendable.

All i offer is my personal opinion. I do not have monopoly of wisdom, and of cos, we all must not agree.

Ojukwu is and will continue to be by hero. Ojukwu helped in elevating Mbonu Ojike Memorial hospital in Arondizuogu(my village), Imo State. Ojukwu can not be blamed for the mess that is Nigeria because he has never held any public office(after the war-which is when Nija regression really began). He does not have to resign!(lol) My thing is that i question his support for Abacha,(even though he reneged). I question his wanting to be president of Nija via APGA and still support MASSOB. if he had just supported MASSOB, his consistency would have been admirable. (do not crucify me ooo). He does not have to resign. He is still my Hero!

Ralph Uwazurike, i love him like a brother. he is steadfast and brave. he is what i will like to be when i grow up! I support him intoto! he should not resign.

Wada Nas, Kleptomaniac and crazed islamic extremist. Supported the murder of the igbos by his fellow crazed islamic brother. A politicians politician. He must resign! (I hope he accepted Christ before his demise or else, the fury of hell can not contain him)

Okadigbo, One of those that will sell their brother, father for a pot of porridge. One those responsible for the mess we have in Nija. from the school of thought that believe that Money personal ambition should superceed all. he must resign! (hope he accepted Christ before he breathed his last)

Colonel Umar, hmmmmmm,Once part of our problem but must have seen the light. brave and credible. For criticizing IBB, trying to make a difference, and been among the voice of reason that Obansajo want to muzzle out. he should not resign!

Gani, my main man. He has spoken out against oppression and suppression of all people regardless. He has guts and has promised to probe past leaders. i know he can do it. He has a plan(not the kind of John Kerry plan) and does not flip flop. he is consistent. Has never held any political position. He respects and upholds the law. Though i disagree with his take on Sharia, (we dont have to agree on all things) A true patriot. HE must not resign!

Ndigbo: My first love. My people. For whose love my father sent me home to my village for secondary education. A resilent people. Just like the jews have suffered, because they are a chosen people. Though sold out by its sons who conspired with its enemies to sell her short. The blood of our brothers and sisters who were slaughtered by criminal Nigerian soldiers cry for vengeance. but since vengeance is of the Lord, we will remain in Nigeria and make sure they never died in vain. Never ever resign!

Massob: the peoples organizations. born out of frustation by the many sellout of our brothers and the hatred of our enemies. I believe in what it stands for. Its about the survival of a people. When pushed to the wall, even the toothless fowl will fight back. yet, embraced non violence as a credo. but must be careful before politiciansn turn it into one of the tools they can use for selfish aim. Must and should not resign!

Wole Soyinka: And the man lived, only to die. Outspoken and well read. gave the road corp some semblance discipline. A capo of the first order. consistent, but remains suspect!, Should not resign

Ukaobasi: Brave, young(i believe) but like Obasanjo(who refuse to control Chris Ubah) will never see anything wrong in some one he believes in. But unlike Obasanjo is sincere and passionate in his zeal and love of his people. Must not resign!

Nwa-Afor: highly opinioted, passionate in his love for his father land(nija) and madly inlove with his root(ala igbo). Unlike UkaObasi, will criticize his own father when he see him eer. May be he should resign for not been part of the real world.

Eziokwu bu ndu, according to the book of myiopic Nwafor!

OBASANJO, BABANGIDA, ABUBAKAR... Should Explain How They Killed Abiola - Gani Fawehinmi

Obasanjo should explain his role in
the death of Chief MKO Abiola
By Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN)
Obasanjo is yet to tell the nation what he knows about
Abiola’s death. We all know the role Ibrahim Babangida
played to bring Obasanjo to power at the time Abiola
was still alive and nobody can dispute the
relationship between Babangida and General Abdulsalami
Abubakar. Certain grounds were cleared for Obasanjo
(in 1999). It is known to everybody that we in the
Joint Action Committee of Nigeria (JACON) wanted
Abiola to be released to head the interim national
government we were calling for. Of course, that would
obstruct the plan of Babangida and Obasanjo.

One of those who visited Abiola in prison was
Obasanjo. We reliably gathered that he appealed to him
to forget his mandate. This was before Kofi Annan and
Emeka Anyaoku came. Obasanjo has to explain why he
appealed to M.K.O. to abandon his mandate and why
within a space of one month, Babangida had to visit
him in Ota. That is what Oputa is saying; that
Abdulsalami should come and explain the circumstances
of Abiola’s death which remains an indictment of his
person and government. We know the connection. It is a
triangle of iniquities, a triangle of conspiracies,
murderous conspiracies.

This is a panel that was headed by one of the purest
judges in the history of the country, one of the
honest judges of all times, one of the most
philosophical and erudite of all judges in the
country. He has sat as a High Court Judge, he has sat
as a chief justice of old Imo State before going to
the Supreme Court and in five years, he did
wonderfully. This is a man without any blot on him. If
you want to count two honest judges of all times in
this country, Oputa is one. You cannot buy him, you
cannot influence him. Since he came out with the
report, Obasanjo has been dilly dallying for two years
now; all in the interest of his friends who are all
indicted by the Oputa panel. They are all indicted,
not only for governmental aberration but also for
serious issues of murder of a journalist of high
repute (Dele Giwa) and the other, a man who won a
presidential election (MKO). Until these issues are
resolved, Nigeria would never know peace. The psyche
of the Nigerian people is not just bruised but
psychologically assaulted in such a way that those who
are governing us have blood on their hands. Nothing
will wash the blood off the hands of Babangida,
Abdulsalami and Obasanjo until the Oputa panel report
is implemented.

Oputa panel report is known to everybody by now. It is
on the world market. It is even posted on the Internet
as www.oputapanelreport.org. Everybody is printing it
out, I have just printed it out. Essentially, it
indicted Babangida, his government, Halilu Akilu and
A.K. Togun over Dele Giwa’s murder. It also indicted
Abdulsalami Abubakar in respect of the death or should
I say murder of Chief M.K.O. Abiola. You are aware of
the three people convicted for drug pushing and so on
during the Buhari regime.

Generally, Nigeria would lose a lot if this report is
not officially acknowledged, officially acted upon and
implemented. Apart from decisions of the panel on
various issues, it went to the very heart of Nigeria’s
problems. It traced all our problems. Oputa did a
great analysis of the problems of the country and
proffered solutions. One of the solutions is that
there is need for Nigerians to meet and iron out some
of the problems that have been plaguing the country
since 1914.

But Obasanjo is trying to water down that aspect of
the report by his so-called committee of his hirelings
which one would call the political running dogs of the
regime to prepare grounds for what Obasanjo calls
national dialogue. It is a way of trivializing the
seriousness of the Oputa’s report and what would meet
Oputa’s expectation. The solution to our problems is
the sovereign national conference. Until we have a
serious approach to the resolution of our problems, I
don’t think chaos would be too far away from Nigeria.

So, to avoid that type of situation, we should look at
the Oputa’s panel report very seriously. The man has
done a serious work, a serious job. The
recommendations are very serious. The government is
trying to trivialize the report. I think the human
rights community should be commended for publishing a
pamphlet on it and I have a copy. Whoever that placed
it on the Internet has done a great service to this
country. Oputa panel is the very best that has ever
happened to Nigeria. We have never had this type of
panel before, that met for three years and touched on
virtually every aspect of our life and not to accord
it the type of respect it deserves would amount to the
greatest disservice this regime can do to the
country."

The forces against the Oputa panel are very close to
government. As a matter of fact, the forces brought
this government to power. Obviously, Obasanjo is
trying to dance to the tune of these forces and the
forces are indicted by the Oputa panel. Chief among
the forces is Babangida. I think in a very decent
society, Babangida and his men should be cooling their
feet in a charge cell or prison because Oputa
recommended that since evidence showed that they were
involved, further investigation should be done by the
police so that the matter could be charged to court.

I swore to fight the Dele Giwa cause until those who
murdered him are in prison. They will certainly be in
prison one day whether Obasanjo likes it or not. His
government will not be in power forever. There is no
immunity for General Babangida now to try him for the
murder of Dele Giwa. As for Akilu and Togun, they will
also go with Babangida. They are many others too that
we don’t know who now hold key positions in Obasanjo’s
government.

So, the reason why Oputa panel’s report and its
recommendation are hanging in the balance is because
Babangida is against its implementation. Don’t forget
that Babangida went to court and even before going to
court, he refused to honour the invitation of the
panel despite all my allegations and incontrovertible
evidence proffered by others and me. First, he said
Lagos was too hostile to him, then the matter was
shifted to Abuja. He found Abuja hostile. The thing he
really found hostile was the truth not the place or
venue of the holding of the inquiry.

Murderous heads of states have never gone away with
murder. We know what is happening to Pinochet. He
would by now be wishing he did not organise those
murders. As for Babangida trying to come back, I think
2005, 2006 and 2007 may shake this country to its very
foundation. I think God Almighty is not a wicked God.
He has never been a wicked God and Has never supported
evil. If Babangida comes back, it means the Bible and
the Koran are going to be re-written. This man is a
personification of evil in every respect.
I am not interested in adoration, I am not interested
in adulation, I am not interested in condemnation. I
am not bothered about such things. I am not distracted
by unconstructive criticisms, neither am I swayed by
unswerving adoration or admiration. I am focused. The
whole world may support me or condemn me; I don’t
care as long as I am focused. He may comment that I am
a good man, I am not bothered about such a thing.

He set us on the path of so-called election for 8
years. Operation this, operation that, don’t
register this, a little to the left, a little to the
right, constitution for the left, constitution for the
right. He directly misled the Nigerian people for 8
years. Today, he is one of the richest Nigerians and
Africans. He sucked our financial blood. Now he wants
to use that ill-gotten money with his hands soaked in
blood to come and punish us again. God will never
allow that.

Nothing good can come out of Obasanjo’s regime.
Obasanjo is a negative character. His psyche is never
positive, his history is never positive. He takes
delights in making Nigerian people suffer, that has
been his stock in trade, that has been his style of
governments. When he first came in February 1976 after
the murder of Mohammed by some miscreants who paid the
price for that, look at what he did. He first
destroyed labour and destroyed labour leaders. Those
who were favoured by Nigerians as labour leaders; Sir
Bassey, Pa Imodu, Pa Goodluck and a host of others
were banned by a decree not to participate in labour
activities for the rest of their lives.

After we have been enjoying the stability of fuel for
12 years, it was Obasanjo who raised it from 80k by
73% in 1978 and said Nigerians were enjoying too much
oil, that they should pay for it. Obasanjo increased
tuition fee in April 1978. When students revolted
against it, he mowed them to death. When lecturers
revolted, he sacked them. More than 30 professors and
senior lecturers were forced out of the university. He
banned NANS.

Even before the election of 1979, he announced that
even the best candidate might not win the election.
Obasanjo has never stood for free and fair election in
his life.Look at what has happened in the Court of
Appeal? We now see the truth. The man has gone one
year and 10 months in office and we are still doing
election petition. In 1979, the Supreme Court
completed the Shagari Vs Awolowo case on Wednesday,
the 26th of September 1979. Luckily, one of the judges
then was Mohammadu Uwais, the current chief judge of
the Federation. The case was concluded 3 months before
swearing-in. Look at the Olu Falae against Obasanjo,
it was concluded on the 5th of April 1999; long before
swearing-in. Look at what is now happening. He was
indicted by the Court of Appeal on the 20th of
December. Even after the judgement, he was confessing
to rigging in Anambra State. That opportunity was not
given to the court of Appeal to know that the election
in Anambra State was rigged.

Look at this scallywag called Togun, the charlatan who
was running away like a rain-beaten chicken after the
murder of Dele Giwa, now has the guts to publish
rubbish of a book. He could not even give proper
notice for its launch, could not even give the name
and address of the printer in the book, only to make
useless insinuations. We fought this battle with more
than 35 cases in court; he couldn’t state all the
useless things he is saying in the book. We raised all
the allegations at the Oputa panel but he could not
appear before the panel. He calls himself a military
man and yet he could not appear before Oputa. When he
was charged with murder, he ran away. This timid
character behaving like a rain-beaten chicken in those
days now has the guts to be writing a useless book. I
will meet him in court despite the rubbish he wrote.

Mebiafran,
My brother don`t waste your time on this Nwa-afor.He his not from Arondizuogu.I can equally claim to be from Ikare ekiti village from Ekiti state.Because,i have a yoruba friend from there or have been there or even get my information from the internet! The boy imagines he is too smart.Imagine speaking from both sides of the mouth by saying he supports Ralph Uwazurike and the purpose of MASSOB.While at the same time advocating that Igbos must remain in Nigeria!!!Observe how he quickly attempted to distract our attention from that issue by quickly switching the topic to tales on Babangida,Obasanjo and Abiola!I wonder if he would ever answer your question on what village he comes from or what the adjoining landmarks there are in Arondizuogu.

He is just another wolf desperately attempting to camouflage under a sheep skin. I don`t mind these guys coming with their true Yoruba or fulani identity to argue their dissenting points of view. What gives it a criminal connotation is trying to argue a well noted yoruba point of view hiding as Emekkka or Nwa-afor under too many handles. This is not to insinuate that Igbos cannot dissent, but we know the real thing when we see it.

Do I really have your number or is this my brother Nwa Aro incarnate? This allusion to number truly gave you away because I don’t have your (Nwa Afor) number. Akeme alright, you sure sound credible but I’m still waiting for the answer to what happened to Nwa Maazi in ATL, as “Nwa Akeme” you ought to know. Or better, you could give me a couple of names of Umu Maazi in Houston for me to authenticate your ID. Lol.

Prayer without repentance: Obasanjo take note.

by Emmanuel Gbonigi.

ALL the time religious leaders and political rulers invite citizens of our country to observe periods of prayer and fasting to intercede with God for His mercy and blessings on our country. It is good to pray to God. Indeed, it is requisite for us to pray to Him. Most, if not all world religions teach their adherents the efficacy of and necessity to pray regularly. For example, Christianity teaches that all the faithful must "pray continually" (I Thessalonians 5:17). The Author of Christianity says "when you pray" (Matthew 6:5) not if you pray. This implies that for Christians, prayer is imperative, that is absolutely necessary and also urgent. Jesus Christ also exhorts us saying: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.." (Matthew 7: 7-8). So, we agree that we need to pray and we must pray.

We, nonetheless, need to learn the true nature of prayer to God. We need to know that prayer to the one and only living God, Creator of heaven and earth and all the things in them is not magic. It does not act as a spell. It has no magical power. Rather, prayer is communion with the most holy, righteous, perfect, just and powerful God. It is humble entreaty, a plea, a petition, a request made to God who is the source of all good and perfect gifts.

Righteousnes and justice

But the communion implies close relationship with God — a relationship whose hallmarks are righteousness and justice. It has to be because God the initiator of the relationship has righteousness and justice as two of His primary attributes. So, those who are in fellowship with Him must of necessity be righteous and just in all areas of their lives. Love and holiness are the other primary attributes of God, and He demands love and holiness from those who belong to Him. He says: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength" (Deuteronorny 6: 5). He also says: "Be holy, because I am holy" (Leviticus II: 44; 19: 2).

Again, this has to be so because as God asks: "Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?" (Amos 3: 3). Absolute obedience with undivided loyalty is the basis of the relationship between God and His people. For our prayer to be efficacious, we must be a people who practise righteousness, justice, love and holiness. Without this, a thousand and one Benny Hinn cannot by their prayer do us any good. It is most unfortunate that Chief Olusegun Obasanjo decided to invite a "prayer warrior" to pray to God to save our country from spiritual and moral decadence we ourselves have been perpetrating with reckless abandon. Please, permit me to quote from the Bible what God says about this kind of wrong use of prayer and religion generally.

"Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of (Nigeria); listen to the law of our God, you people of (Nigeria)! 'The multitude of your sacrifices — what are they to me’?" says the Lord... When you come to appear before me, who has asked this of you, this trampling of my courts? Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to me. New moons, sabbaths and convocations— I cannot bear your evil assemblies. Your new moon festivals and your appointed feast my soul hates. They have become burden to me; I am weary of bearing them. When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you; even if you offer many prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood".

God is saying to us here: "Even if you bring Benny Hinn and a—million -and-one other prayer warriors from all over the world, to pray many fervent prayers with cries and yelling and shouting and screaming and shrieking, I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood. You have been killing many fellow citizens for political reasons through assassins. You have been brutal and barbarous". And continuing with our Bible quotation. God says: Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight! Stop doing wrong, learn to do right! Seek justice, enourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless(the jobless, the unpaid retirees, worried, frustrated and depressed youths), plead the cause of the widow.

Here God is impressing upon us the need to recognise our sins as our sins, to be truly penitent, that is, to be sincerely sorry for our sins, to confess them without making excuses, and to really repent, that is to make a right—about turn. God is urging us to turn our backs on our sinful ways and face the path of righteousness. God goes on to say that if we really and truly repent of our sins, He will forgive us and purify us, wash us clean of our immoral life and really bless us. But if we fail to repent, if we persist in our stubbornness, we will surely perish. No amount of prayer by imported and local prayer warriors can save us with sin in our hearts and lives. Says Prophet Isaiah: "Come now, let us reason together," says the Lord. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are as red as crimson, they shall be like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land; but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken."

Testing God

To go on committing sins and intensify our praying by whatever means amounts to testing God. When the nation of Judah adopted the erroneous view of prayer; that is, praying while sinning and expecting God to answer their prayers with His blessings, God said to prophet Jeremiah: "So, do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with me for I will not listen to you" (Jeremiah 7:14). I hear God saying the same to Benny Hinn provided he is a true servant of God. In chapter 11, verse 14 of the same book God is recorded as saying to His servant Jeremiah:

"Do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them, because I will not listen when they call to me in the time of their distress." So also in chapter 4, verses 11 and 12: "Then the Lord said to me. ‘Do not pray for the well being of this people. Although they fast, I will not listen to their cry: Though they offer burnt offerings, I will not accept them. Instead, I will destroy them with sword, famine and plague."

Incidentally, I watched Chief Obasanjo breaking fast with some Muslims during the current Ramadan fast. I felt pity for him and for our country when I saw it - I pitied and still pity him because I see his religious action as that of a drowning man trying to hold on to anything for safety. I cannot remember seeing or reading of him engaging in this piety in the past. But even if he has been doing it since 1999, he should realise that it is a futile religious exercise without sincere repentance.

Election rigging

The sins we must repent of in order to make our prayers and fasting efficacious include election rigging. All the political parties we have had since October l960 when we gained our political independence until now have practised rigging. Election malpractices, which started soon after our independence, have been growing worse over the years. Someone called the election rigging we experienced in 1999, monumental and it indeed was. In comparison, we would say that what we had in 2003 was unprecedented. Yet, the politicians who were declared winners have been claiming that God granted the victory.

That is double sin— the sin of fraud, and the sin of taking the name of God in vain. Since most of those who now rule Nigeria in the local, state and national governments attained their positions through rigging, it means that the foundation of the present regime is false and very weak. And no edifice built on false and weak foundation can stand. No wonder then that things are falling apart and the centre is not holding. Unless we confess and repent of our fraudulent practices, no amount of fervent intercession and fasting by foreign and indigenous prayer warriors will save us. We have deliberately built our political house on sand instead of building it on rock; and according to Christ’s warning at the end of His Sermon on the Mount as recorded in Matthew 7: 24-27, collapse is inevitable unless we confess and repent.

As a country, we have made the use of illegal or unfair means to gain profit to amass wealth speedily, our way of life. It is evident that most politicians in Nigeria go into politics to make money. They seek positions in order to make possessions. They lie by deceiving the rest of us that they go into politics in order to serve us. Should we be surprised then that they fight each other, slap, impeach and supplant each other as we have been witnessing. That is why they started vying for 2007 directly after 2003 elections instead of working for the welfare of the people who elected them into office. That is why they seek all means, fair or foul, to be on delegations especially abroad because it affords them opportunities to collect estacode and for shopping abroad. That is why they eliminate each other by means of assassins. Prayer by millions of Benny Hinn will not avert the disasters our sins deserve if we fail to repent.

Other forms of corruption: We all know that corruption has become endemic in every facet of our country: in the executive, the legislature and judiciary; in fact at all levels of government. It permeates the Military, the Police Force, the Civil Service, the Customs Service and all the government departments and parastatals. Corruption has become the pastime of local traders, artisans, contractors and others.

to

recommend palliatives to cushion tile traumatic effects of tile most recent increase in the prices of petroleum products that some members of his committee have been asked to visit some countries to find out how they regulate the prices of petroleum. That sounds ridiculous and embarrassing. To most Nigerians, such visit is a means of putting money in the pockets of party members and some technocrats. Money spent by the federal government on au imported prayer warrior will be colossal waste. Prayer without repentance will he futile exercise.

4. Injustice: Most times in most areas of our life as a country, we desire to have peace

while we treat each other unjustly! Injustice is as endemic among us as corruption us. We deny pensioners their gratuity and their monthly allowance. Currently, we are hearing that the federal government have been paying its workers in one of its departments or parastatals half salary since March this year. The judgement of God on those who make their country men and women work for nothing, "not paying them for their labour" is serious. God says: "so I will come near to you for judgement.... Against those who defraud labourers of their wages.. .(Malachi 3:5).

The controversy over the rotation of the office of tile president of our country’ among the geopolitical zones, or between the south and the north is a sad example of our genes’ai attitude to justice. Political mischief and tribal chauvinism apart, the matter is very simple. After the present regime, the office should shift to the South — east zone. After that it should move to the south -south. It is only after these two zones that have not had their opportunity to give us a president can anyone from the three zones justly say it is their turn. Anything short of this would be gross injustice, "which might, endanger urn’ national peace and unity. Our people in the three northern zone’s have filled the office our president for about thirty years.1t is very unfair for them to talk about north south when it favours them, and to shift ground to zonal arrangement when that suits their selfish ends.

Tile injustice we have been ‘doing to our people in the states where we derive about 95% of the total revenue of our country is worse than criminal neglect. let us learn to do to others as we desire they do to us. That is the golden rule (Matthew 7:12). If we live contrary to this simple and universal law, then we are practicing injustice and if we practice injustice, God will not listen to our prayers even if we invite angels from heaven to intercede on our behalf. We must repent oh’ all out’ sins oh injustice. when we do, we won’t need any foreign prayer warrior.

5. Bloodshed: The sanctity of human life was ordained by God Himself. He alone by

Himself and of his own volition, and out of His eternal love, wisdom and power created human beings in His own image. Therefore, He alone has the right to take human life because he alone gives it. So, when God gave the Ten Commandments as the basis of His relationship with humanity, He said "You shall not murder" or’ "You shah not kill’ (Exodus 20: 13). This law of God like the others, is inviolable.

The right of ever’ person to life, like freedom of speech, and even much more, should be an inviolable right. But here we are in Nigeria killing one another for selfish reasons. Politicians kill themselves in order to get position and possession. Businessmen and women do so at will. We kill others because of land disputes and ethnic misunderstanding. The Ijaws and the Itshekiris, Umuleris and Aguleris, Ife and Modakeke people. our people in Plateau state have slaughtered fellow hut-nan beings brutally. Religious differences have been used as reason for murder and arson. So also is chieftaincy disputes all over our country.

One of such chieftaincy disputes led to the slaughter of forty men on one single occasion without the arrest of a single person. Such barbaric and inhuman acts continue unabated throughout our country. Up till the moment of writing this piece, those who killed Chief Alfred Rewane, Chief Bola Ige, Chief Dikibo, Chief Harry Marshal and others through hired assassins have not been brought to book. Our hands are, indeed, full oh’ blood. And with such heinous crimes in our hands we are deceiving ourselves by believing that we can placate God with our prayers and supplications offered especially by prayer warriors from abroad. We think we can escape God’s judgement without true confession and sincere repentance? By no means.

6. Idolatry: The most serious sin we human beings commit against God is the sin of idolatry. Idolatry is the worship of idols instead oh’ God. Idol is anyone or anything we love, believe in or trust more than God or in place of God. The first and second commandments God gave to His people are: "I am the Lord your God.... You shall have no other Gods besides me"; and "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them.."(Exodus 20: 4-6).

This underscores the seriousness of idolatry among all the sins we commit. Undoubtedly, many oh our politicians who profess Christianity and Islam are idolaters. They go to shrines on land and in rivers for initiation and the mortgaging of their souls to deities they believe would give them success in their political contest so that they may have position in order to amass money and wealth immorally and fast. Some of them have rooms in their houses where they keep all sorts of fetish, idols, talisman. etc which they trust for supernatural powers, personal protection and dominion over their rivals, real and imaginary enemies. They alone enter such rooms, and they do so in some mysterious ways. They also join occult groups for the same reasons.

God says, "I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols"(Isaiah 48: 11). We disparage God; we demean Him, we dethrone Him and then expect Him to hear our prayers and continue to save us from our political. social and economic problems without repentance on our part. God forbid.

We are therefore appealing to Chief Obasanjo to please, save the millions of Naira he intends to spend on bringing Pastor Benny Hinn to pray for us. It wont work. It would be prodigal spending of our money. God says that "Righteousness exalts a nation. hut sin is a disgrace to any people" (Proverbs 14: 34). Righteousness is the opposite of sin. The basic way out of sin is repentance.

Without sincere repentance. no amount of prayer can save us. "If my people who are called by my name. will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7: 14). Christians in Nigeria quote this Bible text often and often but we do not obey its injunctions. The heart of the verse is that we must turn from our wicked ways. that is. we must repent. God’s willing and ready forgiveness and His healing of the dis-eases of our country depend on our repentance. If we fail to repent of our sins, we would forfeit God’s gracious forgiveness and salvation.

The sacrifices of God are a broken (repentant) spirit; a broken and contrite heart,

O God, you will not despise. In your good pleasure, make (Aso Rock / Nigeria) prosper,

build up the wall of Abuja. Then there will be righteous (not sinful) prayer sacrifices and offerings that will delight God. (Psalm 51:17-19 -paraphrased)
