Sometimes I just can't help but imagine what would have become of the South, and the Niger Delta region if things were different.

What place would the Delta and its people have in the Nigeria entity if the Hausaman was more educated (going by numbers)? What say would the Deltan man have in the running of Nigeria if his land contributed next to nothing to the sustaining of the national economy?

If all the Oil wells were in Sokoto, the Chad basin and the fringes of the encroaching Sahara desert, what cognisance would the Itsekiri or Urhoboman be given in this beguilded nation called Nigeria?

I wonder how much the Hausaman would let the federal government control this oil resources to his detriment, when his land is continuosly polluted, and his natural means of sustainance destroyed.

Can you imagine an Ijawman arrogating to himself the right to rule a nation where 98% of the national wealth is obtained from Hausaland?

Imagine how the Hausaman would react if they were told that despite the wealth derived from their backyard, they would have to settle for the crumbs from 'some' masters' table... and most times no crumbs is even allowed to drop for him.

What do you think the Hausaman would do if the Federal government cannot protect mallams from being butchered and slaughtered in Warri Enugu and Port Harcourt under the pretence of religious crisis? In addition, would the Mallam accept laws to be set up in Ughelli and Uyo along Christian or traditional lines to overide the federal constitution to his detriment?

Now lets imagine how the Arewa group would react if some Deltan governors went to court to try and deprive the Hausaman the little crumbs that he is allowed to pick up from wealth derived from his land.

As it were, the reverse is the case. The question I however want to ask is: what do we, people of the South and the Niger delta intend to do in the face of this selfish, arrogant and evil machinations of these reckless exploiters?

As we clamour for a sovereign national conference,we should find answers to the questions raised above and we may realise that this time, WORDS ARE JUST NOT ENOUGH. Not this time!

Mr. Mankelv:

There's no need to speculate; it's apparent what would have happened if oil wells were found in yoroba or hausa lands: they will not allow anyone to play one-nigeria with resources on their national territories. You know this when they destroy Igbo businesses out of envy.

I don't know what nation of Biafra you belong, but the last time Igbos/Biafrans tried to check the unwarranted excesses of the hausa/fulai arrogance, the rest of nigeria, particularly the yoroba, acting out of envy for the coveted positions NdiIgbo earned on merit, connived to scuttle that effort, kill credible competition just to outmanauver Biafrans. The parochial, "shofisticated" and chauvinist yoroba leadership, employed such strategy without honor because it wanted undue advantage at the expense of Biafra, but ended up a second-rate citizen, a slave of hausa/fulani economic interests in nigeria, a pompous coward. It is to the credit of yoroba chauvinism and their fabled western education that ever since they took over public and private sector management of the economy, it has been a dramatic downhill inertia for nigeria. How about that for a cronic fraudulent culture that cares very little about honor or integrity in high places.

By the way, you must spread the blame around to all those that have trived by looting and pillaging public funds. Be fair to the hausaman. He has been out of direct control of nigeria since 1999. Is the system under yoroba management not more fraud-ridden than when all the hausa/fulani fraudsters managed it? Look at how the yoroba criminal syndicate in aso rock has continued to run rough-shod over the entire nigeria, using stolen wealth extracted from Igbo land, Itsekiri, Ijo land. Is olusegun obasanjo not from the south? Why do you still blame the hausa?

By the way, it is a waste of your time to speak of a political unit called South with the yoroba as part of it. History taught that a social or political coalition with the yoroba on anything is something to be carefully avoided.
