Yesterday, 1/25, Oba (Yoroba King) Olusegun Obasanjo at his Aso Rock Palace, Abuja, inaugurated a 17 member body for what has been described as BiafraNigeria’s “Image Project”. I am informed that the project is the brainchild of Emeka Chikelu, his Anambra born Minister of Information and National Orientation. However, the body is being touted as a private sector initiative saddled with the responsibility of improving BiafraNigeria’s sagging image abroad. So, watch out for them on CNN and other networks and print media with a global reach. We should not have problem with that as long as the shareholders of institutions these private sector players represent approve of their activities.
But we as Igbo people, I think we should have problem with the constitution of that body. At least 4 notable Igbo people are in this body. Paschal Dozie, Chairman of Diamond Bank and a major shareholder in MTN BiafraNigeria, is the Chairman of the body. Others are Tony Elumelu, CEO of STB-UBA Bank, Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke, DG of NSE and Festus Odumegwu, CEO of Nigeria Breweries PLC. So, at least 24% of Igbo people are represented in this publicity glitz.
These Igbo people are expected to devote time, energy and perhaps their resources to launder BiafraNigeria’s image that Oba Obasanjo and his cronies batter now and then by such despicable acts as the vandalism visited on the Igbo Nation in Anambra State. You can easily see through the lie!
Oba Obasanjo thinks that after using that drug addict and wife batterer called Femi Fanny-Kayode to pour invectives on Prof. Chinua Achebe for telling him that BiafraNigeria under his watch “is too dangerous for silence”, he, Oba Obasanjo, the self-acclaimed Messiah of BiafraNigeria, now wants to use the Igbo people to redeem the worsening image of BiafraNigeria.
Oba Obasanjo needs to be told that a zillion of such bodies and a zillion of these people are both less than and not equal to one Achebe and his numerous admirers found in different language and cultural groupings around the globe.
And if the logic must be stretched: 24% of Igbo people are being USED to launder BiafraNigeria’s dirty image. The question is: how many Igbo people would Oba Obasanjo appoint to represent Igbo interests at his Cocky Confab?

Yea Right to publish Nigeria image internationally, Does this have anything to do with Tafa Balogun's embezzlement. Like Obasanjo and his stoogies are not doing enough damage on their own.

Bros, I couldn`t get over laughing from that one,Chei! But the point is precisely that.You cannot use money and TV ads.to cover mind boggling corruption and embezzlement of public funds,abuse of power and human rights,contempt for court orders and laws of the land,while assuring foreigners that they are protected by the same laws and courts you violate with impunity,the rising abject poverty with rampant insecurity of live and properties of both Nigerians and foreigners.I wonder if Obasanjo knows that it is a criminal for an Ambassador to falsely report or under report critical situations in their host country to their home governments.Abacha did the same thing too and wasted billion of naira to whitewash his image.As if there were no other resources foreign governments had in Nigeria to know the true picture of things here.I wonder who gives these rulers such corcky ideas?
Indonesia,Malaysia (equally third world countries)affected by the tsunami are havens for foreign tourists not because they were telling white lies to white wash their image.But were serious countries that did what was reasonable to reduce official corruption,the police attended to and assisted tourists in distress without demanding bribes to do their job or even robbing or taking advantage of them because they (police) know nothing will happen.If Obasanjo concentrates a little bit on solving some of the problems of delapidated infrastructure,insecurity of lives and properties,corruption reduction so that the money can be ploughed back into jobs creation and poverty reduction,then he would not need CNN or BBC to tell lies on his behalf.Tourist with a robbery free or hitch free visit to Nigeria would tell their friends and families who would more believably convince the world than the rented CNN or BBC.

Ndewo. Actually, the INVECTIVES that Fanny-Kayode poured on Prof. Achebe when he rejected their national shame called national award, is enough to make decent people to turn their back on BiafraNigeria.
And you are very right in your own contribution. You only forgot to mention 419. As I write, some scammers may already be using Gestapo Balogun-gate to defraud some filthy, racist and greedy Whites, who would easily fall for their (Scammers) antics, knowing that BiafraNigeria is indeed the most corrupt country in Africa and second or third in the entire world. And this record is under Oba Obasanjo's watch and his anti-corruption posturing.
The scammers operate and succeed because they know that there are reports that the most corrupt arm in Oba Obasanjo's regime is the Presidency and those appointed by him to act lawlessly on his behalf.
I hope that those investigating Gestapo Balogun would check whether part of his discovered loot came from unsolved asssasinations that happened while he was the BiafraNigeria Police Chief.

Bros, Obasanjo went to Switzerland and embarrased every Nigerian alive.The man could not even answer straight questions asked him about NEPAD( His own brain child) without peeping into a note prepared for him.It was so embarrasing that he was speaking out of point reading the wrong paragraphs from his hidden notes that Bill clinton, the moderator and the audience had this very sorry expression on their faces.Suddenly he realised he was actually asked about clean water resources and not security as he speaking off point.Then he began to peep again and read from his notes!
It is indeed a tragedy that Nigeria with all her excellent human resources has its worst to represent her.It is the irony of the barn called Nigeria where mediocrity is enthroned and glorified.
