Ikemba owes no explanation to faceless internet brats like you.Whatever his reasons for application of restraint by not replying his friend Chekwas on the pages of newspapers must have been rational and wise.Because Ikemba has been known to have made sacrifices to save situations inimical to Igbo interest. What you brats would relish is for Ikemba to engage in quarells and counter allegations with Chekwas on the pages of the Yoruba press. While i heartily support Chekwas as a brave Igbo son and founder of APGA,the point of Ikemba`s overwhelming influence that leap frogged APGA as the Southeaster`s political party against NDP etc formed by other Igbos should not be lost sight of.Infact,i concur completely with Chekwas Okorie on his strategy to woo Ngige into the party.I had hoped that Ikemba would compromise a little or at least turn a blind eye for the sake of shaming Obasanjo`s unprovoked onslaught on Anambra state.

"what does he hope to achieve for Ndigbo by allying with the number one Igbo hater Obasanjo" -Okunnunu

Man! What a question, what a distortion! Let me begin by answering that a lot would be achieved. As our people say,"onye kwuo okwu, ahu ka uche ya ha".This question alone speaks volumes about this man`s complete lack of information on even Nigeria`s most recent history. The Abacha constitutional conference brought a lot of positive changes in the polity. Some Including the 13% derivation fund and the six geopolitical regions structure which made case for Ebonyi state clear. Thus defeating the southwest arguement that they deserve two extra states because Babangida split Anambra and Imo into states while creating only one from Oyo(ie Osun State). When purported Igbo sons like you pretend they do not know what is at stake in Nigeria my heart bleeds for the woman that suffered nine months of pains only to give birth to an efulefu! That Obasanjo is the chief convener of the conference does not mean we should not make the best use of ANY available opportunity to address the fundamental injustice and lopsided federation we have been forced to live under.Ohaneze saw that it was better sense to do your part first, than sit back and lament or criticize endlessly by pointing that how terrible things have gone under Obasanjo`s inefficiency.

I have been and still am a staunch believer in the goals of a Sovereign National conference for Nigeria`s problems. But,i tell myself the truth that unless it is sparked by a war or major crisis,it might require significant bloodshed before all parties would see it`s inevitability. The best manner of association or government suitable for Nigeria can actually be worked out without all that bloodshed,as long as peoples and stake holders are provided conducive environment to at least negotiate without guns on the battlefield. Therefore, all the ethnic nationalities that have decided to give the confab a chance understand the alternative and so does Ikemba. When faceless Chicken heads like Ike, Victor Ifezue and Okunnunu thus decide to hide behind a computer and type rubbish one is shockingly amused at their shameless display of ignorance.

I don't know which is worse: the fact that Ojukwu betrayed the trust reposed in him, or the fact that a masked marsupial named "njiko umigbo" has the nerve to call anyone here faceless. It clearly shows that, in njiko, we are at best looking at a neanderthal man.

Whether he likes it or not, the era of automatic support for Ojukwu has come to an end, and Ojukwu will henceforth have to earn his respect back, in the same manner that people like Ike Nwachukwu, Orji Kalu, and Alex Ekwueme have to. If njiko considers himself a "chicken head" next to Ojukwu, it is njiko's cross to bear.

It is not reasonable to expect to have perfect leaders. Ojukwu is not perfect. I have never imagined he is a saint. But keeping to basic principles is the least the Igbos can expect from him. Chekwas Okorie has worked tirelessly to defend him and the Igbo cause. I have not heard Peter Obi as much as I have heard Chekwas Okorie regarding the Anambara crisis. The manner he was discarded by Ojukwu is shocking.
I do not know Chekwas Okorie personally and not in a position to tell if he was corrupt or has betrayed group interest to deserve such a treatment.

If Ojukwu made a decision to join one faction of APGA based on information available to him, that's fine. What about his support for Obasanjo's dialogue? What we know so far is that 36 states will send 144 out of 400 delegates. Of the remaining 256 delegates, Obasanjo will appoint 50 directly and 206 from organisations which his government will choose. There are also the murky bits about the national assembly ratifying whatever the national dialogue comes up with. Without delving into more details it is apparent that Obasanjo's dialogue is no more than his monologue echoed by a selected audience. What is Ojukwu's strategy? How does he hope to make an impact given the imbalance in favour of the ruling dictator?

Njiko,
Nwanna jide nke ji. I am with you. Some of these guys here just sit down and type rubbish without the thought of what Ndi-Igbo stand to lose for some of this foolishness i see here. Our
suituation in nigeria is so critical that people need to think before jumping on their key board.
Some of them here, have no clue of what is going on in Igboland, or Nigeria in general.

It seems to me that Ojukwu has happily joined the public banter with Chief Chekwas Okorie. It is a bit disingenuous for Ojukwu and his supporters to claim that public banter with Chekwas is being avoided, in the same breath that Ojukwu accuses Chekwas of suffering from "poorly digested vocabulary," an insult that Chekwas should wear as a badge of honor considering that the crooks Ojukwu is working with failed to prove their own allegations of fraud by Chekwas. The only credible allegation of criminal monetary inducement made so far is the one that Ojukwu took bribe money from Obasanjo, some of which was used to close the deal on the betrayal of Chekwas by Ojukwu.

It is a very disappointing development. Besides, how long is Ojukwu going to boast about his so-called Oxford education and a degree in history, of all mundane subjects, whose only visible product to his people is a concocted Oxford accent?

Njiko,

I am not going to exchange insults with you.
You have to explain to people what Ojukwu has done for Ndi Igbo lately to warrant the unquestioning "loyalty" that you exhibit.

quote:
Whether he likes it or not, the era of automatic support for Ojukwu has come to an end, and Ojukwu will henceforth have to earn his respect back, in the same manner that people like Ike Nwachukwu, Orji Kalu, and Alex Ekwueme have to.
Ike you hit the nail on the head with this quote!
I doubt if any of the people you mentioned above have been given the benefit of doubt that they too may be very "strategic" in there actions. The same cannot be said of Ojukwu who time and time again gets forgiven for some "alu" which he has commited.

quote:
derivation fund and the six geopolitical regions structure which made case for Ebonyi state clear.
What an Achievement!
Lets look at this.
From 1 out of 4 regions controlled by Ndi Igbo,
as a result of Ojukwu toading to Abacha, it became 5 states out of 36 , while the yorubas with similiar population ( and Abacha's arch enemy got to 8 (lagos, Ogun, Osun, Kwara, Kogi, Oyo Ondo, Ekiti ) states out of 36. That is almost 25%.

Put that im perspective will you.

Ineba Jimohs motive is suspect. The tone and manner which he started the thread is supect.

Having said that, any politician that or Nigeria citizen for that matter that eats and dines with the evil man Aremu is also suspect. call it whatever u want, Aremu can never be made to see reason. Shango free Apathied experience, Prison life, bornagain experience nothing will ever influence the evil egba man. Fela knew this when he sang about this evil man.

Chekwas is a politician, Umeh is a politician, Ojukwu is a politician. None of them has ever canvassed for a new system. They all want to be part of this system that promotes ineptude and corruption. If not why have they not refrained from participating in the charade knowing fully well that evil Aremu has the joker.

Obj is garnering support for his twisted dialogue in which he alone will appoint 50 members. Which of these politicians have condenmed him? or refused to be part of this charade.

Until we have men like Gani, who can and have promised to try past leaders, Until we have men like Gani has been consistent in their believes and actions, Until we have men like Gani who can stand up for the truth irrespective of tribe, creed or beliefs; until then, people like Ineba Jimoh will always find ways to goad us into discusions that will lead us know where.

You made a whole lot of sense here, but how's my motive, tone and manner suspect in a case that's out there for everyone to see? You sound very much like a chameleon knowing how often you twist your stories. Watch your mouth, my friend.

Ineba abi InGari(lol):

Read ur opening on this thread
"With the following disturbing, yet hard to believe derailing leadership, it's certain the future of the Igbos is now permanently on life support.

I think the papers were more direct than I have seen in this fora. The fiasco is nothing more than Ojukwu being bribed, meaning he would do anything for money. I am shocked. Listen to a crying Chekwas Okorie..."

How could the future of Ndigbo be on permanent life support?

If u are so shocked because of ur insinuation that OBj bribed Ojukwu and knowing also that Ojukwu would do anything for money, how could u then say this on same thread:

"Anyone who thought Ojukwu was smart and a man of unstated charisma should think again..."

That is why i question ur motive bros.

I criticize Ojukwu for inconsistency, but never for corruption or as a sell out. If i have reason to, i will, but not with the motive ur portray.

By copying posts from this thread and using them to populate the useless duplicate that he opened, Ukaobasi has vindicated the content of this thread and the allegations it contains. Ukaobasi did not have a problem particpating in threads where Obasanjo was called a moron. Why pretend to be concerned abuses contained in a thread? Why now? Because Ojukwu the untouchable is involved?

Only those who do not know about Ojukwu's eternal search for relevance would be surprised by his move into the Obasanjo faction of APGA.

Evidently, there are some dim-wits on this board who masquerade with handles that pretend a desire for Igbo unity, when indeed, they are only interested in the progress of the part of Igboland that they come, in how they can benefit from sycophancy, or they are interested in worshipping tin-gods. At the first opportunity, they start hauling insults because in their poor upbringing they failed to learn that there will be responses to their truculent outbursts. Those who believe that Ojukwu has a mandate to misbehave are free to follow him to hell. But they should learn to do so without classlessly attacking members of this forum.

Here's in case you guys suddenly developed amnesia over what the rules are. The person you guys are wrongly accusing of circumventing the house rules believe me is not that type; he's instead detailed, thorough and fair in his writings and thinking hence our endless admiration for him. Please you guys should bear in mind that not every position of his I support but a great majority like 99% is sound so, chill. Now check this rule that Jimoh Ineba impetuously broke, which is what the respected one, Uka is trying to correct without calling for the banishment of Jimoh from BNW.

Happy new year to all my fellow Ibos in the house. It’s me Okpala Ahaba(Asaba) taking a short break from ROM because of the importance of the topic.

Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu has ALWAYS been foolish and reaped where he did not sow. After bro Nzeogwu did a good job and was aborted Ojukwu was there to play a one Nigeria patriot and get a medal for resisting a coup! When Ibos were being killed by our fellow Nigerians Ojukwu told Bayero (whom he sent by fiat to replace Zik as chancellor in Nsukka that it was the price they(Ibos) had to pay for Nigerian nationhood. But when the Ibos thought the suffering was too much to bear and wanted to walk out Ojukwu went and stood in the front of the queue and centred the young Republic around his small self. Last year we all saw him take over the limelight from MASSOB’s successful protest. When MASSOB started he kept saying he was only for Biafra of his mind this and that and was going in and out of Aso rock to give OBJ assurances. Guess what? After he shifted the MASSOB protest to himself, he openly claimed he contacted OBJ and Chris Kolade who gave him back his passport. I believe in one Nigeria just like Ojukwu but I don’t pretend like him to be EzeIbo gburugburu. I am happy being a true son of Onicha Ugbo!
Those of you who are crying now about the treatment of Chekwas Okorie do not know Ojukwu neither do you deserve any sympathy.

Some of you have been consistent in your worship of the man and it is good to know you will not disown your earlier opinions. That is unlike chameleon Nwa Aro of “further studies” fame.

I have NOT changed my position that Nwa Aro is a criminally minded person who does not remember the lies he told the day before.

Nwa Aro on one of his recent of his “civilized” unsolicited sermons to the Ibos:

quote:
IT BEHOLVES ON US AS THE "CIVILIZED" PEOPLE THAT WE CLAIM TO BE TO STOP THIS OUTDATED PRE-MADONNA ATTITUDE OF HERO-WORSHIPPING OJUKWU OR ANY OTHER BEING (POLITICIAN OR NOT) FOR THAT MATTER. FOR ITS ONLY WHEN WE LEARN TO LET OTHERS OPENLY CRITIZE AND HOLD TO ACCOUNTABILITY THOSE "LEADERS" WE "LOVE" AND THOSE WE CHOOSE TO HATE COULD WE TRULY TALK OF BEING A MORE CIVILIZED PEOPLE THAN OTHERS AS WE OFTEN MOUTH ON THIS BOARD. By Nwa Aro Senior Advocate
Advocate # 27, posted January 30, 2005 10:56 PM

For openly crtitizing(sic) Ojukwu in Germany Nwa Aro was not happy with a group of Ibos. You check the date:

quote:
To worsen matters, when members of my organization did pay their way into the hall, they were forced to leave the conference room before the event proper could even start because most of those who spoke at the pre-opening speech seems to have come to Germany to just bash and insult the person of Dim Ojukwu. It was so nauseating that most of the German-based individuals and organizations that went there were forced to leave without making any contribution at the meeting. Members of my organization who went to represent us at the meeting came back so disappointed and distrauted and reported two weeks later at our monthly meeting that, "those people (the organizers of the Düssseldorf Conference) are not serious." By Nwa Aro Senior Advocate Advocate # 27 posted July 18, 2004 03:41 PMJ
Memorandum "civilized" Nwa Aro and some well-meaning Igbos in a pro-Igbo organization we formed three years ago based here in Germany compiled a couple of months ago to be delivered at the recently held pro-Biafra/Igbo conference that took place in the central German town of Düsselldorf.

The same Youngman described himself as a die-hard Ojukwu follower and was congartulated for his fictional trip to Ojukwu's birthday:

quote:
The much writen and talk about 70th birthday celebration of Chief Emewka Odumegwu Ojukwu came and went but the mark it left on the mind of both us his DIE-HARD followers like yours truly and his enemies will remain even after the man whom one newspaper descibed as "man for all seasons" is gone to meet his ancestors. On learning that Ojukwu will be turning 70 in October and that the occassion will be openly celeberated in my backyard of Owerri, I decided to extend my stay to keep date with history. It is my third time of meeting Ojukwu in person

By Nwa Aro Senior Advocate posted November 08, 2003 12:51 AM

Die-hard = One who stubbornly resists change or tenaciously adheres to a seemingly hopeless or outdated cause

See dictionary dot com!

70th birthday celebration of Chief Emewka Odumegwu Ojukwu came and went but the mark it left on the mind of both us his DIE-HARD followers like yours truly (NWA ARO)

As usual when he changes direction he will keep it to himself and hope everyone has your little memory. B2R(Back to ROM).

This is the Oguchi Nkwocha led BAF's take on the present crisis. The items in bold are mine.

quote:
This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International broadcasts

For January 29th, 2005

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

We are disappointed that Ikemba is planning to attend Obasanjo’s Conference where Obasanjo’s agenda is not even going to be discussed or debated, but is only going to be simply rubberstamped. The people of Biafra have rejected Obasanjo’s conference and his agenda; therefore, the Ikemba of Nnewi will not be representing the masses of Ndigbo and other Biafrans if he chooses to go ahead with attendance.

The people of the nation of Biafra will state once again that the only conference we will attend is a Sovereign National Conference where the words, “Sovereign” and “National” describe the status of each of the various ethnic groups attending the conference. It is to such a conference that we shall send representatives, and can thus be represented.

Here are the reasons why we advise Ikemba to shun this conference; and why Ikemba will not and cannot be representing the interests, the wishes and aspirations of the tormented and persecuted people of Biafra if he still chooses to attend:

Obasanjo has already fixed the agenda and outcome of this conference. A direct evidence is the so-called “terms of reference” issued to the committee he appointed by himself to come up with parameters for the conference. Another piece of evidence is the short time given the committee to come up with their report, a suggestion that the committee had already been doing their “assignment” for much longer, and had already wrapped it up prior to Obasanjo’s public announcement. Of course, all this was confirmed by the Committee Chair.

What bothers us the most is that Ikemba would consider attending a conference with a pre-declared anti-Biafran agenda and outcome, in the year 2005, a year which has witnessed the continuing deliberate humiliation of Biafran people by Obasanjo and his regime. As we speak, MASSOB members and other Biafrans are in hiding and or being held in jails all over Nigeria, and even in our own homeland, Biafraland, too, charged with “Treason” because we dared exercise our divine moral imperative of freedom and survival; and the UN Charter guaranteed right of self-determination. Obasanjo and Nigeria continue to violate our human and civil rights with impunity, even after an occasional court ruling issues orders to release our brothers and sisters, rulings based on Nigeria’s own constitution; orders which have thus far been flagrantly disobeyed by Obasanjo and his government.

....................

Was it not just yesterday, practically, that Obasanjo, through his agents, thoroughly humiliated Ikemba himself, and hence, all of Biafra, when an SSS boy, totally unfit to be Ikemba’s houseboy, arrested and detained Ikemba at the airport, preventing Ikemba from flying out for a medical checkup? And, what was Ikemba’s offense? Recall, to our horror, that Ikemba had to ask friends to call and beg “Almighty Obasanjo” to intervene. Perhaps, Ikemba has personally forgiven and forgotten, but the collateral insult to Biafra was too deep and is still too fresh for the nation of Biafra to bear. We were all the more shocked and overcome with nausea when Ikemba subsequently referred to Obasanjo as “my good friend...”

Has Obasanjo, typifying and representing Nigeria, professed any other principle than the annihilation and crushing of Biafra and the destruction of Biafran icons and symbols, of which Ikemba is the quintessence? Consider Anambra. Obasanjo’s vicious and malicious machinations and Anambra policy are all aimed at defeating Ikemba in his own home-State, and at showing Biafrans that he, Obasanjo, still has us and our Symbol, Ikemba, under his heel, to tread on as he likes. So determined is Obasanjo to carry out his humiliation of a Biafran icon and the nation of Biafra that he conspicuously failed to “invite” Ikemba to help resolve the crises which he, Obasanjo, ignited and has been stoking there ever since. But now, in search of dupes to carry out his agenda, Obasanjo would deign to call on Ikemba to deliver his people’s support of an agenda aimed at stifling the goal of his same people’s life-aspirations?

This summarises the view of BAF. I think the genie has been let out of the bottle and as Ike very clearly put it, he would have to earn his respect as the likes of Orji Uzor and Iwuanyanwu would do.

My brothers:

Inconsistency on the part of so called Igbo leaders has always been our downfall. For all the so called politicians of Igbo extract personal and selfish gains transcends our collective good. It is high time we stand up for the truth.

I doubt if Orji Kalu, Iwuanyanwu, Udenwa and all the other jesters in politics can ever earn respect from well meaning igbo people.

As for Ojukwu, he is gradually eroding the goodwill and trust he garnered as a young man. I used to think wisdom comes with age, but since Nigeria proves all known theory wrong, i am still waiting and watching this icon thread on this treasheous part.

God help us all!

Ojukwu has screwed up for the last time. I don't care what he does from now on. I WILL NEVER FOLLOW WHERE OJUKWU LEADS. As far as I am concerned, the insults that Umeh is throwing at Chekwas Okorie are being directed and instigated by Ojukwu himself. Even if Ojukwu and Umeh take control of APGA, that does not really matter anymore. because Ojukwu has lost something bigger; he has lost the support of Igbo people, and his enemies know it.

All over again, it is the same "Ikemba Front" thuggery that Ojukwu came back with from Ivory Coast. If he is such a brave man, why didn't he unleash thuggery on Obasanjo for humiliating him in Igboland in the last elections and for pissing in his mouth with an SSS boy? Where was Umeh when Ojukwu was stopped at the airport and his passport taken away from him? It is time to call a spade a spade; OJUKWU HAS SOLD OUT!

Ojukwu wants to attend Obasanjo's conference, and he does not care if he is appointed, elected, or otherwise selected. Is Ojukwu afraid that Obasanjo would block him from being elected, the same way that he has been blocked from ever winning an election, even in his own Nnewi? If Ojukwu cannot win an election as a delegate to the conference, is it not shameful that he is so willing to put himself in Obasanjo's debt by accepting an appointment to the conference from Obasanjo?

Ojukwu can go to the conference if he likes. But, he will be representing no one but himself. He has become unfit to speak for Igbo.

Is it possible for Chief Ojukwu to aplogize for his trangressions, or is he too big to do so? I ask this because people should be given a chance to express remorse and retrace their steps.

From what the eye could see, this Ojkwu fellow is kind a like you all's Jesse jackson, he's won no election, and he ain't run jack. Why you folks waste so much time on him, I have no idea. Don't you have some kind of famine or strife in Africa you could be talking about?

I guess you missed the rule which says:

You are all reminded that BiafraNigeriaWorld MessageBoard is threaded for the convenience of members and those who just wish to browse. Therefore, it would help if members would consolidate the discussions by placing their posts in existing threads, where those posts could add to and enhance the dialogue. Threads that violate this principle may be closed and/or deleted. --- Webmaster
