In Yoroba land the Oba is believed to continue with his rulership in the great beyond. No big deal did I hear you say? Well, he's expected to retain his servants and that means some unfortunate souls are killed to go and keep kabiyesi company in the grave.
Before the advent of the oyibo when every nation guarded their territory, the yoruba's used to groom folks among them for the purpos4e of dying with a dead Oba. They are called the "abu Oba ku"(those that die with the Oba). They live within his house hold and enjoy good food and every morning the Oba curses them to his heart's content.
They amalgamation of BiafraNigeria has also expanded the possibilities for extravagance in this barbaric culture: Other non Yorubas can be kidnapped and killed for the Oba. A source told this writer that in the case of the nonagenerian Alake of Egbaland, up to 90 people may be sacrificed at his funeral, i.e. one for every year of his sojourn on earth.
Biko, steer clear of Egba Yoruba land at least for now.
