The promise by OBJ to Ojukwu that if he accepts the Chairmanship of APGA Board of Trustee he would be nominated as a delegate to the conference has blown off. OBJ played upon Ojukwu intelligence and greediness’ and now that Ojukwu urine smells all over Igbo land, the supposedly suspended Chairman of APGA Chekwas Okorie has been nominated as a delegate while Ojukwu is left in the cold of his urine.
Sorry to rain on your parade but what about this...

Greg, I hope you are right that Ojukwu is invited. He has invested so much in this dialogue that nothing short of a very prominent role for him and a productive outcome will rescue his battered credibility.

You did not rain on anything because the list is out and Ojukwu name is conspicuously missing in it, so the publication that was referenced by Mebiafra was nothing but speculations.

Is there a quote somewhere that Ojukwu said he was promised by Obasanjo to be nominated, or where Obasanjo promised he would nominate Ojukwu in return for taking the APGA stance that he took? or is that also speculation?

I hope so too that he is invited or in anywise gets to participate. I think he could contribute a lot to this dialogue, as someone who has gone beyond in fact what others hope to achieve only in ideal.

I hate eggs been thrown on my face, My stomac is turning here. The thought that I have to agree with somebody I dispise sickens me. If Ojukwu is not invited to this conference and not just invited but with a prominent role like CSE alluded to. I will hate to say it, I will be agreeing with Bababoyz for the first time in my entire life, that will be doing something I thought I will never do.
Obviously Victor Umeh have accomplished the assignment given to him by Obasanjo. Does this mean that Chekwas Okorie have been vindicated?, what these means is that unless you stand toe to toe with Obasanjo, that's the only way Obasanjo can respect you. The problem I have with the least so far is not that Ojukwu is not on that list, but the type of people chosen to represent Ndi Igbo in that list. With the Exception of Ebitu Ukaiwe, the rest of them in that list are all Efulefu.
There is so many different informations floating around, may be I should hold off on congratulating you yet. Please read this.
The official list of delegates to the National Political Reforms Conference released yesterday showed that the dialogue will be spearheaded by those who played important roles in the foundation of what is now known as modern Nigeria. A cursory look at the list showed that some of the delegates are men who either participated in various constitutional conferences which held both in Lagos and Lancaster House, London to design the shape of the post-independent Nigeria or those who worked with the quartet who were the founding fathers of Nigeria. Chief Mattew Mbu, Chief Anthony Enahoro who moved the first motion for the independence of Nigeria as a parliamentarian, Alhaji Sule Katagun and Alhaji Shetima Mustapha were key actors in the conferences that led to independence. Some other delegates were also associates or aides of the four founding fathers – Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sardauna Ahmadu Bello and Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. Alhaji Muhammed Bello Kirfi, Alhaji Ibrahim Damcida, Alhaji Garba Ja Abdulkadir, Chief Solomon Lar and Dr Adamu Fika all worked in different capacities with both Bello and Balewa. Also, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, Dr Tunji Otegbeye, Senator Femi Okurounmu and Mrs. Tejumade Alakija worked closely with Awolowo. Another group of founding fathers who will participate in the conference are the key figures in the events leading to the civil war. They include Chief Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu who headed the defunct Biafra Republic Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe who also fought on the same side with Ojukwu. Others like Maj. Gen Adeyinka Adebayo, Maj-Gen I.B.M Haruna, then Commissioner Alfred Diette-Spiff (now a traditional ruler), Col. Bello Kaliel and Brig. Gen Oluwole Rotimi fought on the federal side during the war. For many commentators who said robust, issues-orriented politicking died with the Second Republic, a cream of the political participants of the era are either representatives selected by their states or part of the Federal Government list of nominees for the conference. The Second Republic politicians who will feature in the political conference are then senate president, his deputy and majority leader, respectivley Dr Joseph Wayas, Senator John Wash-Pam and Dr Olusola Saraki. Others are Senator Jack Tilley-Gyado, Alhaji Mohammed Goni, who was the governor of old Borno State, Senator Muhammed Uba Ahmed who was national secretary of the then ruling party, National Party of Nigeria (NPN), Dr Umaru Dikko who was Minister of Transport, Senator Sikiru Shitta-Bay and Chief Sunday Adewusi who was Inspector General of Police during the period. Others are Senator Tari Sekibo, Dr Paul Unongo who was Steel Minister, Mallam Adamu Ciroma, who was minister of agriculture, Senator Francis Ellah, Dr Samuel Ogbemudia who though was a key element in the civil war era when he fought as a major on the federal side was in the Second Republic elected governor of Bendel State. The corps of retired military officers who participated in the eight military administrations that the country has ever witnessed were equally represented in the conference. The past military leaders are Lt. Gen. Victor Malu, former army chief, Major Gen. Godfrey Ejiga, Brig Gen. Bassey Isuquo, Rear Admiral Mike Onah, Admiral Mike Akhigbe, Lt. Gen. Garba Duba, Major General David Jemibewon, Col. Ahmadu Ali of ‘Ali Must Go’ fame, Group Capt. Usman Jibrin, Admiral Akin Aduwo and Admiral Murtala Nyako, both of whom headed the navy at different times. Other ex-military leaders who will be in the conference are Air Commodore Jonah Jang, Col. Mohammadu Audu, Maj. Gen Alwali Janji Kazir, Major Gen. A.B. Mamman, Rear Admiral Hamzat Sani, and Air Commodore Emeka Omeruah. But Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, who was one of the people nominated to the conference by Obasanjo told THISDAY last night that the announcement was a surprise to him. He, however, was not categorical on whether he would accept the nomination or not. When asked what his position was, Soyinka said “that’s very simple. I cannot tell you anything now. Like I said before, we just had the PRONACO (Pro-National Conference Organisation) meeting today (yesterday), and by 10a.m. tomorrow (today), we will brief the press. I do not want an individual response to this. What we have on ground now is more important than an individual attitude or anything like that.” When THISDAY first broke the news of his nomination earlier in the day to him, he said it was unbelievable and that he would see the information as mere speculation. “I doubt if that is correct. Are you sure of this? What I can tell you is that I see this as a speculation,” he had said. Soyinka also maintained that he was not contacted personally by the president before being nominated for the conference. PRONACO had met yesterday to deliberate on its position on the conference, but had opted to wait till today to address a press conference on the direction it would take. The Enahoro-led group had consistently maintained it would rather convene a parallel conference of ethnic nationalities than participate in the conference being organised by the Federal Govenrment. Also, PRONACO's publicity and media co-ordinator, Comrade Wale Okunniyi has described the nomination of its leader, Enahoro as an attempt by Obasanjo to blackmail opponents of the National Dialogue. In a telephone conversation with THISDAY last night, Okunniyi said the nomination of the elder statesman was a surprise to PRONACO and that it was done to split the group's ranks. "I want to say that the appointment is divisive and a calculated attempt to further destroy the will of the people to have an alternative Sovereign National Conference. "It came to us as a surprise. Up to this moment, our leaders have not been consulted as to whether their names should be nominated", he said. Meanwhile, President Obasanjo yesterday at the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria said that the national conference would usher in unity and brotherhood in the country. The President who was represented by his Adviser on Ethics and Good Governance, Mr. Kanu Agabi (SAN) also said that he has no doubt that Nigerians shall emerge from the conference more enlightened, more united and less suspicious of one another.

I think we are all missing the point here. It is the sudden conversion and 180 degree turn made by chekwas Okorie that seems strange, out of place and should be examined in more detail. He it was that had been making accusations against Ojukwu just few weeks ago claiming that Ojukwu spoke to OBJ on phone in yoruba language and that He (Ojukwu) wants to sell out the Igbos by attending the conference. Those where the allegations against him on this board by Bababoys and co at that time .Ojukwu is a traitor he is selling out the Igbos. Now that he is not attending does it not prove that all your allegations and accusations of treachery are baseless? Suddenly the same man chekwas, crying all this is the first man to attend the conference, selling out his party just to be there and to avoid probe into his alleged misuse of funds in APGA. He is the real traitor. He is the one sponsored by obasanjo to destablise Ojukwu, split the Igbos and make sure that Ojukwu does not come for the conference, cos he is the only one they fear there. It is clear as light (except to the blind) who is the real traitor, turncoat and sell out in this matter in the person of Chekwas okorie. Okorie is a political prostitute. Ojukwu never hid his willingness to attend the conference so why are the not leting him? (if at all your list is true). Obasanjo is afraid.
Even you Bababoys, you know what Ojukwu is worth. See how happy you are that Ojukwu is not attending the conference. You where afraid all the time that he might attend that is why you where all so worried the past weeks. Your know what he can do.

As far as I am concerned Ikemba going to the conference on appointment by Obasanjo can never be any good even if he is made the chairman of the conference. Having said that I don't think he will be going, from the 37 names Obasanjo appointed from Anambra there already two names; Arthur Nwankwo and Emeka Anyaoku. I don't think he will drop any of those two or add a third person from Anambra when other states have only one representative.
The only other way Ikemba could have gone was to be appointed by Ngige, Ohaneze or through his party APGA. Well Ngige has already appointed 6 people and Ikemba's name is not there.

Ohaneze has also appointed two people Irukwu and Ellah again Ikemba was not selected.

Finally the spot reserved for APGA has been taken by Chekwas Okorie.

I don't know how else Ikemba is going to go to the conference. Imagine if Ikemba did not join Umeh it would have been him going for APGA. To me that is the most dignified way he could have gone to this conference, but I think Obasanjo did not want him there and tricked him out.Knowing fully well that Chekwas would have given the spot to Ojukwu he had engineered the fracas in APGA and left Chekwas with official control of the party. It appears Ezeigbo would be sitting this one out.

The logic does not seem to flow, it had been long known that the political parties where alloted some spot. It was equally known that there was no way Ojukwu would not go under APGA which would have been a ticket independent of Obasanjo's influence. You don't expect APGA to nominate Ikemba if he leaves the party for a dubious faction. Like I said he appears to have been tricked out of the conference by those who sponsored Umeh, too bad though.

It seems illogical to me that Ikemba would join Umeh at Obasanjo's behest since he was already practically assured a spot by being nominated by Okorie. Why would he shoot himself in the foot if simply going to this conference was the quid pro quo for supporting Umeh. He already had this in the bag so to speak. It is more probable that something sinister was going on in APGA that made him turn against Okorie. Has Ojukwu ever been shown to be a fraudulent person or a liar?

The decision to give spots to the political parties in the conference was only announced less the two weeks ago when Ojukwu had already made his move to the unrecognized Umeh camp, eventhough it was known the government could not go ahead with the conference without the participation of the opposition. If you were following the whole conference saga, at the onset the delegates were to be appointed only by Obasanjo and the governors. It was at this point CSE wondered what legitimacy Ikemba would have representing Ndigbo on account of Obasanjo's appointment.
The government changed the rules numerous times when ever they felt the conference was threatend and the decision to give the opposition some spots was made to forestall their boycoting the conference. Under pressure the government also caved to they ethinc organizations like Afenifere, ACF and Ohaneze even after the same government had initially said they did not want ethinc participation.Ikemba then in an uncharacteristic decided to go back to Ohaneze event hough he had been boycotting them for years. It did not take a genius to figure out that those people were not exactly his friends and won't be so accommodating as to give him a spot. The end result now is that whereas Chekwas is going it does not appear Ikemba is going.

Chiboy, Online and offline I have heard many dedicated Igbo people wondering what came over Ojukwu especially in the last one month. He has been acting like a man on a political suicide mission. Lets leave the APGA crisis apart for a moment. The manner he handled the Obasanjo dialogue is troubling. He created the impression he was desperate to attend the dialogue for the sake of attendance. First, it seemed Obasanjo and his PDP were going to appoint the delegates and the Obasanjo PDP in the national assembly were going to ratify whatever little change expected from the dialogue. Ojukwu was probably briefed by Obasanjo. I can’t imagine what he was told by Obasanjo but after that meeting Ojukwu no longer seemed to recognise Obasanjo as the brutal incompetent dictator he has been in the last few years. Right from the very first minute, he gave interviews, which implied that the national dialogue as initially tabled by Obasanjo was good except for minor cosmetic defects. Specifically, Ojukwu said he didn’t mind who selects him to the dialogue. He spent time pointing out the trivial things e.g. the differences between monologue, dialogue and a conference. In a few of the interviews, his age and oxford education were prominently touted as if they give him the divine right to represent Igbos. Rented youths were paying courtesy visits and making bold statements in support of Ojukwu. At this crucial point, Ojukwu was busy severing long established bonds in APGA, with the pro SNC advocates and simultaneously establishing new shaky ones with Ohaneze and breakaway APGA faction led by Umeh. I think his misjudgement reached a troubling (comical) height when he accepted the chairmanship of Umeh APGA with a donation of 500, 000 naira! At this point, it must have been pretty clear to Obasanjo that Ojukwu was standing on his own. After all, Obasanjo must have known that it was MASSOB and Uwazuruike that pulled Igbos off the streets late last year and not Ojukwu. On the evidence of his performance in the last month, I maintain that Ojukwu should retire now before he does more irreparable damage to his dignity. I commend the BNW for recognising the abnormalities in Ojukwu’s performance and refraining from protecting him blindly. Its time to move forward.

My dear, abundance of sense exist in your post although I dare say that regarding the APGA bunkum, Ojukwu bungled it. He shouldn’t have taken sides not on umeh’s side anyway. Trust me, you are not alone I see the pain in your writing and I too went through the same based on our unabridged love for a man who now is a source of pain to us. Allow me to also disagree that Okorie was used to destabilize his Party rather it is my strong opinion that victor umeh who has been in bed with aremu’s PDP is the turncoat, the blatant traitor. Yes you’re right about your assessment on bababoyz when you say few weeks ago they were all shouting how Ikemba sold out or is going to by alluding to attending the useless conference but today he’s cheering Ikemba’s omission to that list. The question then bababoyz should answer is what is his expectations from Ikemba, attend or not to?

I hear you very well! Ikemba should start to unwind going by his triple miscalculations of late. I join you to also commend BNW for allowing the members duke it out despite the pains it bring upon those that sincerely cared about this man that is on a suicide mission it seems. If anything could be said about MASSOB and Ndiigbo, is that it does not have Ojukwu's face on it Uwazurike instead is the man as you rightly argued or pointed out.

Thanks for enlightening me. There is only so much support one can give to self-destructive behavior. I waited to hear the full story. I think you have done that much more than me, and now that you have weighed in on the matter, I have to say that I am in some agreement with you, and others, on the mess Ikemba has gotten himself into. I gave him the benefit of the doubt in everything cos I thought he deserved it, but it appears he has lost the goodwill and trust of the people, which is a tragedy, but their aspirations and well-being is greater than one man's good for himself. I congratulate all the nay-sayers.

I am saddened by the absence of some of my comrades, my brothers whom I joined in order to bring about good governance to our people and not one individual. Given that Ojukwu played a role by not allowing the destruction of his people by the invading islamists with the yoruba help some thirty-eight years ago, that alone should not give him an open ticket to screw us today. My brothers that have gone AWOL are hereby called upon to come back here to confront the monster head-on because taking flight will never solve a thing rather what they are doing is postponing the reckoning day.
It is now obvious though sadly that Ojukwu is becoming divisive and a distraction to our greater cause... IGBO, as such I call on those close to him to administer some counsel to him immediately. The man is loosing grounds by the seconds so the burden is on them to prevail on him before he causes a personal damage to himself. Yes bababoyz and chiboy are right, aremu clearly outplayed Ojukwu make no mistake about that. It has always been my sincere belief that he committed a tactical error when he traveled to abuja to have a not so secret parley with the evil killer of Bola Ige. While Okorie and real Ndiigbo were reeling from that, he committed yet another blunder when he transited to Yoruba while his BROTHER Okorie was right there with him during one of his conversations with obasanjo whom he should have been smart enough to know has no love for him. Had Okorie been in the know I bet you my life he would have used his street wisdom again to prevail on Ojukwu to abort the conversation forthwith. So, I ask you ladies and gentlemen, what could he have been discussing that he felt uncomfortable for Okorie to hear? As far as my participation here is concerned the collective Igbo cause is my motivator and not a singular. Our cause is certainly greater than Ojukwu therefore; I call on all our brothers to return to the round table, BNW to iron this mess out. When the going gets a little rough they say the tough get stepping so brothers here you have it. Our journey to freedom!

Good job, we all did give him the benefit of the accused, which he misused.

honestly, you've now started to bore us! So Ojukwu is NOW a monster? What of in 1967-1970, when he demonically refused to end the genocidal war levelled against Ndigbo? So, Ojukwu is NOW divisive and is a distraction to our greater (IGBO) cause? What of in 1967-1970 when he brought disaster upon Igbo land by foolishly by-passing the World Community (=United Nations) in seceding from Nigeria?
These are well-known issues to those whom you have labelled as "efulefu" and "igbophobics" for years. Welcome aboard, friends! The next issue to tackle for you is this: how can you NOW get rid of the decades of pro-ojukwu/pro-biafran indoctrination?

It`s a tragedy to speak of Ikemba in the manner it is done here. The man is human and have probably made a mistake to believe whatever Aremu told him about Chekwas.Fela Anikulapo Kuti described Obasanjo so well as a 'Wayo' king that can never be trusted any time in his song 'army arrangement'.
The so called anti party activities of Chekwas was actually in the Igbo interest as concerning the occupant of the Government House Awka.I was a little bit disappointed when Ikemba failed to speak up against the burning of Anambra state in the name of politics.Instead,it was great patriots like Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife (Okwadike)that protested the continued destruction of his homeland by Aso Rock backed forces in collusion with the Police irrespective of his own party affiliation. At that point,it seemed to me that Ikemba had failed to realize his position as a father to all Ndigbo irrespective of what political party they belonged.Allowing himself to be limited because of APGA from condenming the destruction of his homeland before his very eyes was incomprehensible for many.Who kept asking 'wha
