The history of Nigeria/Biafra cannot be written or complete without featuring the above two figures, either for the roles they actively played during the dark days of the civil war, or for the games they are both playing against each other now.
So far, and going by the encounters and the effective results that are out there in the public domain between these two elephants, it seems Obasanjo has always come out as winner against Ojukwu.
Does the results that have emerged between the two of them means Obasanjo is smarter than Ojukwu or is it that Ojukwu is dumber than Obasanjo?

HaHaHa. Ojukwu has prevailed. All you have left is to resort to insults. You will fail in your thinly disguised attempt to devide the Igbo with these hilarious attacks on our leaders. Bababoyz I read the insult and the insolence in between the lines of your post. You are ofcourse equating Ojukwu = Igbos and Obasanjo = Yoruba in your post. You are saying in effect that the Yoruba are smart and Igbos dumb loosers in context of naija politics. You are throwing the challenge at every Igboman on this board, by your glaring insult. I find your post of a very base niveau and offensive in its nature.

To me that is the most dignified way he could have gone to this conference, but I think Obasanjo did not want him there and tricked him out.Knowing fully well that Chekwas would have given the spot to Ojukwu he had engineered the fracas in APGA and left Chekwas with oficial control of the party. It appears Ezeigbo would be sitting this one out.
The above sound plausible, and probably another confirmation on how Obasanjo has been toying with Ojukwu imprudence.

Ikemba have been checkmated out of this crucial parley. They have always feared the Ojukwu phenomenon in Nigeria. The memories of his shrewed brilliance fully displayed at the Aburi negotiations remain fresh in their minds.
One is only disturbed about what agenda this confab is truely scheming that desperately necessitates Ikemba`s total exclusion. While mobilising a fearsome assembly of the most highly experienced and cunning heavy weights alive from the other regions. Then, almost " complete oyinbo men" like Chief Anyaoku,Ike Nwachukwu and their likes who hardly know the name of the village next to theirs talkless of the day to day frustrations and pains of the poor common under priveledged Ndigbo under the system called Nigeria are appointed to articulate the Igbo agenda and greviance! Nonetheless, this conference is still a very worthy venture.Lets watch and see how things unfold first. It may as well turn out like the David`s truimphant victory over Goliath against every reasonable human prediction.

Njiko, did u say crucial parley? Please spare me!
How long will people be fooled before they know that Obasanjo does not mean well for this country?
Obasanjo is only interested in seeking revenge and protecting his fellow looters.
He sought and got revenge against the Abacha's, Mustafa etc. Most thought he was serious about fighting corruption.
He pretended like he was sincere about placing nija on the fore front of transparent and accountable nations. He used Oputa and fooled many that came and testified. Today, he uses such testimony to witch hunt all those in the military who sincerely gave their testimony.
He had sworn to a higher Okija shrine to protect IBB and all other looters of nija economy. just yesterday, we had a first hand experience with Tafa the IG of looters.
In order to get ojukwu support, he pretended that he was going to nominate Ojukwu for his fool the fool dialogue. Ojukwu fell for it and forgot all that happened in Aburi. Now we know better.
Every day for the thief, one day for the owners, after all Hitler had many supporters both in Germany and outside.
Obasanjo is dumber, those that forget so soon make him think he is smart!

An educated african living in Africa, who goes around parading himself with an embarrassingly fake sounding "Oxford" accent is not only a disgrace to his african heritage, but also inferior in all his ways. Listen and watch Ojukwu making a fool of himself at BBC's HardTalk interview with Allan Little. If Ojukwu is a true and genuine african leader, then that concocted fake "Oxford" accent would not be in his corrupt mouth. Take for instance the South African president Mbeki, who speaks beautiful African English. Even Obasanjo's semi-illiterate english is better and definitely more authentic and african than Ojukwu's slave-like fake "Oxford" accent.
Thus, in conclusion, to me Ojukwu is much more stupid than Obasanjo. Ojukwu is an eternal failure, whereas Obasanjo the ITT thief has succeeded in all his political endeavors.

Why dont you show one man from your village of Ikemba`s age who could even speak pigin talkless of "Fake"Oxford accent? In case you did not know,Ikemba`s accent has been the way it is from the time he joined the army as a recruit in the 1950`s.If you have anything against the man ,say it without recoursing to cheap insults.Afterall,i am sure your father cannot speak good English. With your frequent misuse of tenses here, iam sure your spoken English may not be so much better than your illiterate father`s.
quote:It`s a tragedy to speak of Ikemba in the manner it is done here. The man is human and have probably made a mistake to believe whatever Aremu told him about Chekwas.Fela Anikulapo Kuti described Obasanjo so well as a 'Wayo' king that can never be trusted any time in his song 'army arrangement'.
This board will be better used for more important issues than asking who's dumber between Ojukwu and Obasanjo. I've noticed over time that some of us use the cover of the internet to throw insults at people who are either old enough to be our fathers (and even grand-fathers) or who are in E-V-E-R-Y W-A-Y superior to us. Where is our so-called African values. In Africa, even if you disagree with an adult (no matter how foolish his/her act may look) you still have to show your dissent with respect. How many of us can truly stand in fron of either Ojukwu or Obasanjo and make the kind of statements we make here to them. Why do we suddenly discover our manhood when we think no one is watching and we can post anonymously?! How many of us will be courageous enough to post things this way if pictures and house addresses were to be posted on our profiles?! I think this topic stinks and thats why I've tried avoiding it all this while. I'm even more disappointed that my Igbo brothers also joined in contributing to the topic. Ojukwu dumb? Ojukwu a traitor? What a pity! Do you in your heart of heart think he deserves the kind of comments being made about him after all he's done for the Igbo nation? He may be wrong this time around (and even that is yet to be proven) but to insinuate that he's dumb and a traitor as posted here and elsewhere, to me is extremely sacrilegious and highly impious, to say the least.
I think another forum should be opened for those who are out to learn fictional writing and the use of computer keyboard. Let our focus remain serious issues.

This is how I will answer to my good friend olu, the gentleman. I refuse to see a lying crook, killer, thief, embezzler as anything "superior" to me. The way my grandmother, father and mother taught me to access superiority is based on the impeccable character of that individual nothing about position, status or wealth, PERIOD. His/her affability garners the ever elusive respect so let's end this blanket award of respect as if it means nothing anymore.
[Post below culled from another thread only in case people never visited that one.]
It is really, really hard to continue to show respect to a KILLER or THIEF age notwithstanding. We in the East/Igbo have a saying that thus say; okeye mee owe ya ka rice, umu nunu rie ya. – Meaning, if an elder acts like a baby he gets treated as such or if an elder pretends to be rice, he gets eaten by the birds. Respect we all know should be earned and whence we start dishing the damn thing automatically, people abuse it as happens in the danger they call nigeria. Trust me, the general idea in your caution is understood my response is to explain why certain things are said here.
“How many of us can truly stand in front of either Ojukwu or Obasanjo and make the kind of statements we make here to them.” Well, it should be a source for concern to all of us that we are not allowed to FREELY express how we feel around the so-called elders or is it leaders in our own country as is the case right here, USA. I remember a lady running next to Bill Clinton during the 1992 campaign hauling all sorts of real insults on him. So also do I remember the day a fella accosted President Bill Clinton in Washington D.C. during a jogging routine and let him have it while the secret service looked on. So, let’s not encourage this primitive nonsense of addressing every rogue, rapist, killer or embezzler of public funds as Jesus. Would you address respectfully an "elder" that raped your six year-old daughter? (God forbids). Would you in all honesty show any atom of respect for someone who killed a family member? How about addressing respectfully someone who stole your life savings from the bank? Precisely, no respect! I don't want the points you tried to raise to be lost I do see your drive though but these salient points must be close to our minds when we write.

I agree with you that rogues, thiefs, rapists etc should be addressed as such, but the problem I have with some posts on this board is the use unsubstantiated accusations, hypes and the tendency to use foul language on people that should naturally be given the benefit of doubt. I try not to be influenced by the madness playing itself out across Nigeria but will also not shy away from condemning whoever is worthy of condemnation.
I agree with your proverb as its also said in my place that the man that uses cockroaches as his waist band is the one that invites insults from chickens. But can we truly say this of the main character in question? I'm not Igbo but Ojukwu is one character I admire alot. He may have made his mistakes, he may no longer be relevant in the scheme of things, but do we truly think he will deliberately BETRAY the people he almost died for? I don't think so. I don't think a man that stood up for what he believed in at age 32 will betray that cause at age 72.

Me too, I don't. Anyone who truly believes that Ikemba will knowingly "betray" the Igbo is definitely wrong, he won't. My feeling towards the latest happening is that he allowed himself to be used as most posters have been screaming all along before it became obvious what umeh his new found paddy did to him. I've stated in all my emails and phone conversations with friends and brothers that Okorie never deserved the onslaught unleashed to him by umeh with the connivance of Ojukwu. As it looks now those who felt this way are vindicated. As I said earlier the general idea of respect in yours is welcomed but we must extend this privilege to who deserves it most. Thanks for agreeing.

Thanks a great deal for trying to maintain a clear course in your delivery, and for having the gumption to question the motive and direction of the topic of a thread which by its very nature invites utter chaos and goads verbal assaults.
You previously stated in some other thread your wish that seriou matters are deliberated upon in a serious manner, and by serious people with a sincere intent.
I hope this thread serves as an example that its not about "Yoruba" bashing afterall, but about the proclivity of many non-Igbos who unlike yourself appear at BNW to abuse, dehumanize, ridicule, and distract Igbos from
Venting against the Obasanjo leadership for his deliberate assault against them in this his short season and short lifespan
and from
Seeking a way out no matter how feasible, unfeasible, or practical their proffered solutions in discussions with one another (and others) may appear.
BACK TO THE MATTER
The topic of this thread is: Who is dumber/smarter: Ojukwu or Obasanjo? In the above assumption the indices used by the author of the thread to measure smartness appears to be what?
Survivability?
Likeability by ones Group?
Success as measured by "Nigerians" collective support and love for the candidate?
Power in "Nigeria"?
Relevance in the nations history
Validity in the nations history?
Would one then be tempted to ask?:
Who is dumber/smarter: Obasanjo or Gani?
Who is dumber/smarter: PDP or AD?
Who was dumber/smarter: IBB or Abiola?
Who was dumber/smarter: Abacha or Obasanjo?
I could go on, but I believe some already get the general drift: The prominence of a person today does not vindicate what that person stands for, and never will even if revisionists jump in to sanitize image.
It is therefore clear that the thread absolutely makes no sense other than the usual comic relief for which Babz is also highly appreciated.

quote:It shows that Ojukwu has become delusional. Ojukwu did not care what the people of Southeast wanted because he thought he had the support of the "the boss" in Abuja. He alienated his traditional supporters because he thought he had support from his traditional enemies, Ohanaeze and Obasanjo. All along, it was a very cheap political trap from an old trick bag, which even a first year student in politics should have been able to navigate around. Under scrutiny, Ojukwu has proved himself to lack the wisdom to lead in the treacherous political environment called Nigeria. With that, he has consigned himself to irrelevance.

The summary of it all is that Nigeria is a fraud. Jaw-jaw and War-war. There are always two types of Nigerians, those with the hammer and those who got the heads to take the blows.
Its not who is smarter or dumber, rather its who is more barbaric?.
On the other hand, I am not suprised. This is Nigeria you know. Smartness here means your ability to swallow your brother. Like Abacha was smarter that Ken Saro-Wiwa and Dele Giwa Dumber than IBB (the evil geniues).

1. What African values? All the one that says this: Orgnization of African Unity decree, Article 4 paragraph 1 "Consistent with the provisions of the framework Agreement and the Agreement on Cessation of hostilities, the parties reaffirm the principle of respect for the border existing at independence as stated in resolution AHG/Res. 16(1) adopted by the OAU summit in Cairo in 1964, and, in this regard, they shall be determined on the basis of pertinent colonial treaties and applicable international law".
Article 4 paragraph 2
"The parties agree that a neutral Boundary Commission composed of five members shall be established with a mandate to delimit and demarcate the colonial treaty border based on pertinent colonial treaties(1900, 1902, and 1908) and applicable in international law. The Commission shall not have the power to make decisions ex aequo et bono".
2. Even if you disagree with an adult? You really need to do away with this adults ARE morality/elders can do no wrong idiology. It is both rediculous and incinsiderent of others and also dangerous. This age=power system has helped to stur conflict and paved the way for circumcissions, forced mariages, and the enslavement of many neo-slave children.
3. How many of us can truly stand in fron of either Ojukwu or Obasanjo and make the kind of statements we make here to them. Would you? If they haven't posted their addreses its probally due to the fact that they could not stop a dictators rage. Olu sense you are such a barrer of courage I ask why you haven't said anything to these leaders? Your lack of courage is the reason these people ruin Africa. You are passive and will pay with your life. To the rest of the World Africa's dictators are constantly called Hitler wannabes and the like. This is due to the fact that people like Romanians, South Koreans, Russians, Serbs, Chile, and Italians have overthrown far greater tyrannies with greater TEETH then most of Africa's preschooler-of-a leaders.. Olu what do YOU plan on doing about those two? NOTHING. It takes a real big man to talk in exile olu.. The fact that you are critisizing from abroad and out of danger in a country that has freedom makes you a de facto refugee and a coward. The international community could really care less. So the talking must end and true action must start. These useless protests and exiled critics have run their corse.
Who are you to preach about Ojukwu's doings for the Igbo nation? What have you've done to help Igbos? Why do you still buy into the international comminity, African unity and the UN when they all let Biafra fall?!! Did you also forget that Ojukwu was the first but NOT THE LAST PRESIDENT of Biafra?!! Was Philip Effiong executed? NO. So why wasnt Ojukwu in Biafra to the end? Why do you discrase Biafra and courage by going back to Nigeria and continuing to call for reforms that will never occur??!!!!! You are like the woman who gets beaten by her husband but keeps coming back for more! DAMN YOU!

Confederate, I think you need an interpreter or a translator, whatever its called! Its obvious that you choose to read what suits your opinion. Read my lips boy, my point was, and is still is -* The Ojukwu issue has been over-flogged as if he is solely responsible for the problems of the Igbo nation. What the man did at age 32 couldn't be done by many message board critics like some of us here at age 62! Does that mean he's untouchable and shouldn't be criticised if found wrong? NO NO NO!!! But for God sake, Lets show dissent with some respect!!! Ojukwu traitor, Ojukwu dumb, Ojukwu etc. Some people will even want to hold the man responsible for their cold and catarrh! E tie dike n'ala, a nu uzu ya!
I could see from your posting that you need some education. I'm not Igbo, but I understand what the Igbo nation is going through. I feel their pains. Me a refugee, wake up boy. I live in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria, so I feel the pains in Nigeria first hand. Do you know what's called a generator? Have you ever had swarms of kids rush your car at the traffic light knocking your window and begging for money? Do you have friends who still roam the streets looking for employment over a decade after graduating at Masters level? Have you ever been begged by graduates to give them employment as drivers and office messengers? Ever met Liberian and Sierra Leonian graduate refugees begging for food? Its easy for you to come here and pontificate and ask us to call for guns from Russia and US, but you've never gone to bed hungry before. You really can't know.

You said: I think you need an interpreter or a translator, whatever its called!
They are the exact samething and you were correct the first time!
Ojukwu did a good deed leading the civil war but him coming back to Nigeria today makes no sense. If he basically faces the same issues he did in the past how can he sleep at night NOT leading a civil war? I questioned his logic. I blame him for nothing.
I dont need any educating but I think you do. If you are 62 then you were born in 1943. In 1969 you were in your mid-20s. What were you doing at that time? Yes I know what a (power) generator is. No people dont swarm my car but in parts of the US that does happen.
Due to outsorcing which is due to the lack of dignity and low standards in countries like Nigeria yes I do know of peoples who have their Masters but not a job!
I am a Black American and Black Americans and Americo-Liberians are the exact same thing. Americos were doing fine in THEIR country until Africans rose to power and started having their teenage brats roam the streets with AK-47 screaming rediculous demands. When I said Russia and the US I was talking about the Cold War. From 1960-1984 the U.S.S.R. and U.S. goverments would've bent their selves backward to get youy as an ally. They would've givin you milions of dollars in aid! Biafra could've taken advantage of that. It diddnt, OLD MAN! I havent gone to bed hungry? I come from a poor household. I am also a DIABETIC. My medicine costs hundreds of dollars for containers the size of my thumb plus we are not alowed to each that much regardless so yes I DO know how you feel so don't preach to me about food.
I am sorry you go to bed hungry but if you people werent so passive you'd have a real goverment, you could've gotten Soviet or US aid to help you and your country would be seperated in little countries not hard to feed. Your passiveness and lack of fighting and discusting faith in the international community got you were you are today. You were passive and I guess it serves you right..
