Isn't it interesting that they have to be discriminated against for them to wake up. I hope some of them in delta state follow suit. I just don't understand why some people define themselves solely on what they think they are. Our identity is also partly defined by what others think we are, whether we like and accept it or not. I 'm pretty sure the ijaw will be seeing this folks as igbo and the itsekiri and urhobo will be seeing the delta anioma, ika etc as igbo too. Yet they are living in denial.

Angered by years of perceived unrestrained marginalisation by the Rivers State Government, the people of Ukwa South in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State have asked the Federal Government to reunite them with their kith and kin in Abia State.
The request of the community is contained in a petition addressed to the Senate President and made available to our correspondent on Sunday.
In the petition, copies of which were sent to President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Acting Inspector-General of Police, the Oyigbo community contended that the Rivers State Government had shown through its actions that the people were not wanted in the state.
The document signed on behalf of the community by Chief Chihor Nwogu, cited many instances to show that they were not wanted in the state.
The community pointed out that since they were excised from Imo to Rivers State in 1976 through the Mamman Nasir Boundary Adjustment Commission, the Rivers State Government had continuously discriminated against them in all facets of state administration, giving them no sense of belonging in the state’s scheme of things.
They argued, “There has been no justice, equity, fairness and democratic freedom in our relationship with the Government of Rivers State, especially in the distribution of social amenities and allocation of political appointments.
“It took the Rivers State Government 18 years to give a political appointment to an indigene of Oyigbo Local Government. That was in 1994, when one of us was appointed by a military administrator as Special Adviser on Youths.”
They said the administration of Dr. Peter Odili had monumentally and conspicuously demonstrated in words and deeds that the people of Oyigbo Local Government Area had no stake in the state.
