What is wrong with these Yoruba people in uniform? We have all read about the weeping generals, Diya and co. who knelt and cried before a mere major. Now, this Tafa Balogun criminal is crying like a baby:

Yes, we all know Tafa's crimes and what he deserves, but the man is in custody. Why did they have to push him and drag him and ultimately cause his leg to be broken? No matter how much we have detested this man, it is not right to abuse him while he is a prisoner, even if he has abused others in the same way. When police powers act like the Gestapo, it is always the greater evil.

No person under the color of authority or law has the right to abuse a prisoner or a suspect. Balogun should be treated like a human being. Yes, the guy is an ungrateful rogue but he deserves a better treatment under the color of any law. But I am against him seeking medical attention outisde Biafranigeria.

This same man that complains about a violation of his rights stood by + did nothing when a sitting (I hesitate to use the word elected) governor was kidnapped + maltreated. This same man did nothing when vandals under the guidance of Ubah destroyed buildings in Igboland (as if we didn’t already have problems with a lack of adequate infrastructure in the East). This same man stole billions in police funds thereby guaranteeing his officers would seek out any means to make ends meet. This same man's singular act escalated the demand for bribes at checkpoints and ensured that innocent civilians who either refused or delayed in ‘producing’ were gunned down in their hundreds all over the country. The most recent example of this is the Apo killings of some of our Igbo brothers. This same man starved his force of funds and thus set off a multiplier effect which innocent people have had to pay for – too often with their lives.
He is now being persecuted ‘Nigerian Police Style’ by the very people he had a hand in training! This is poetic justice. Let us appreciate it for what it is. How sweet! He has got his comeuppance. There are others like him dating back to the history of the country and their time will come if it hasn’t already (why does Abacha come to mind?). The only thing that can save them now is the luxury of a premature death. Forgive me if I cannot find the time to shed him a tear. His travails will not keep me up nights. Good riddance!
