Private Funding and Investment is the only way out for Igboland.

Well I support the idea for a build operate transfer (BOT) bridge because that is about the only way you can fund projects in developing countries. The power plants that are dotted all over Shenzhen in the Guangdong Special Economic Zone in China that are the backbone to the industrial might of China where all build using BOT. These projects where even backed by private individuals like Stanley Ho of Hong Kong who build the first private multiple carriage way in Shenzhen China.

If the Igbo Traders trusted themselves and worked together they could build a private operated bridge using technology that will make it cheaper to build. Such a bridge could be owned by a commercial subsidiary of OMATA. It is a bridge connecting two Igbo Communities so there should not be a problem with that.

We Have Ohaneze, World Igbo Congress, Massob, Igbo Youth, etc and I have not seen one collective plan on how to solve privately problems of Water supply in Onitsha, Private power Supply in the East, Drainage problems in Aba and Onitsha, Revising our University and Technical institutions Education, so Igbo's will produce more investors and entrepreneurs and not educated Illiterates and Civil servants.

The Igbo’s need to start forming there own Solid Investment Banks, Heavy and Light Industries, Power Generation and Communication companies like Owel Holdings, Orient Petroleum, Geometric Power have started to lead the way of companies with a vision. We need to see much more. The wars to won are going to be economic and technological wars and not wars where people wear Red Berets and beat their chests.

Obodo5000,

Was it not Igbo traders who dominated the market for foreign clothing? Look what happened. The Nigerian government banned the import of such articles. Is it not Igbo traders who generally dominate the import markets? Look at what has happened. Their goods are routinely impounded for failure to pay extra and exorbitant customs duties, and these goods, already paid for, are auctioned off to lazy and greedy government officials, who know all too well that they are looting Igbo traders and businessmen. Don't you realize that whatever Igbo try to do economically, they will be the victims of institutional theft, ruining themselves and enriching those that weild the power in Nigeria. True power is not in economics, as you seem to indicate, but in who holds the gun. Please stop being naive.

Where did you just crawl out of, have you just discovered Shenzhen ? If you had taken a drive on the Aba/Umuahia express way and you would have realized that the traders knew about industrial zones before Shenzen became a factor. Guess what, mallam Buhari killed that idea with his import licence regime.

Some of you just wake up and fart in public and hope to be taken seriously, did the Shenzhen manufacturers tell you they built those power plants ? In case you didn't know China is not a failed state and it's government is made up of well educated administrators and proven technocrats not semi illiterate soldiers and the paper certificate professors who do their biddings.

I am not surprised by the responses of Chiboy and Greg they do not know any better. It is interesting to hear that you become an industrial powerhouse by importing finished products like "foreign clothing".

It is interesting to see how you create jobs and your technology by importing another countries technology.

Mr Greg says and I quote "True power is not in economics, as you seem to indicate, but in who holds the gun" so why is the Russian Economy less than the Chinese even though they have more guns than the Chinese. Why is the per capita rate of wealth distribution in the North of Nigeria less than the South (They have had the Bigger Gun for Years). This also applies to Sub Saharan Africa which has more guns but their entire economy is less that that of Hong Kong and Singapore put together.

Chiboy you do not even know what you where talking about, because the Aba - Umuahia expressway was finished in 1979 buy Fougerolle Nig. It is not dotted by industries rather by Filling stations and Trailer scrap yards and presently garbage. Most of the industries in Aba are in Aba town proper. The Shenzhen Economic zone was created in the mid sixties but only came to fruition in the late eighties.

Nobody has to tell me Chiboy, you read! and not listen to rumors from beer parlous. You should go and read about Gordon Wu of Hopewell Holdings in Hong Kong and his contributions to the Private power infrastructure in Shenzhen.

You should read about how to fight economic wars, look at the economic strategy of the Indians. Chinese, Jews, and English etc that is what we have to emulate. If you want to go and fight an insurgency in Nigeria I wish you luck because it is bound to fail again.

Yes at least I fart and I am proud to admit it
I want to see your positive contributions on how we can build up igboland apart from starting another catastrophic un-ending war, you guys intend to instigate while staying far away in you cozy foreign abodes.

For more enlightenment please go to http://www.africaunchained.blogspot.com/

Thank You

My friend take your theory and shove it somewhere,I suggest you spend more time propounding your noble ideas at that web site than bore us with your irrelevancies here.We do not need your type of economist or financial adviser with little practical real word experience lecturing Ndigbo. Go and try running one shed in Ariara , you can come back and lecture us when you have recovered your capital.

My advice to you since you are one of the few knowledgeable Igbo's around, is to go see baba at Aso rock for a job. Tell him you are one of the good ones who does not wish to start a war and you would be given the opportunity to take Igbo land to paradise in Nigeria. Some of you just don't get it.

Mr. Obodo5000,

I have a friend in this city who owns what one can only describe as a junkyard, but it is a junkyard for older computers. He buys them at auction by lots, and forthwith ships them to China to the tune of about a million dollars every month or so. The question is what does China do with these old American junk computers? Well, they study them, and take them apart, reproduce the technology used to make them, and then improve upon them. Afterwards they wind up as affordable computers in Chinese homes or internet cafes. This is only one example of benefits of importing foreign goods and technology. So whether it's computers or cloths, the technology used to manufacture them can be studied and reproduced to fit the needs of the populace of the importing country. Witness the country of Japan. Before computers were widely used, one W. Edward Deming, an accomplished management and manufacturing expert, was invited to Japan to help the Japanese more fully understand the manufacturing process. One of Deming's ideas, that of "quality control" was turned down by most American manufacturers, but when the Japanese heard it, a light turned in their heads, and they began to rigorously monitor the quality of the products they produced according to Deming's management philosophy, such that today the finest and most trouble-free products are made in Japan. I do believe you will find that their Toyota Corolla, for instance, is hailed to be the most trouble-free car in the world, all because of ideas that came from a foreign influence.

My question to you is, why is Nigeria so protectionist? In free societies, isn't competition a healthy thing? Doesn't it cause manufacturers to make a better product because people have a choice? But because those who make clothing in Nigeria have no real competition, the average Nigerian has very few choices, hence clothing manufacturers can afford to make inferior products, many items for instance having no color-fastness after the first washing. Tell me, is this the way to gain a foothold in the world's export market or just a way to exploit the already exploited. This example can be applied across the whole spectrum of all manufacturing technology, whether it be that of cars, computers, clothing, durable goods, electrical equipment, medicines, etc. In the early days as China imported all sorts of foreign technology and reproduced it, it was called "pirating." That seems to be forgotten now as everyone buys cheap items from China modelled on foreign technology.

I ask you simply, which of these nations began their economic strategies before they were secure nation-states? What economic strategy did the Indians have before they kicked out the British? What about the Chinese before Deng Chou Peng began to open the door to capitalist reform. Did the Jews produce anything before they were masters in their own land? I agree with you that Nd'Igbo need an economic strategy to relieve their suffering, but it's not each other that the traders do not trust, it's the Nigerian government and its anti-Igbo policies. After all we are talking private funding and no one wants to be ruined by extortion, asset impounds, or outright legislation designed to impoverish investors. But it is right to think about ways to improve life for the people.

Mr Greg says and I quote "True power is not in economics, as you seem to indicate, but in who holds the gun" so why is the Russian Economy less than the Chinese even though they have more guns than the Chinese. I stand by my statement, but you oversimplify the matter. If, God forbid, there were to be a war between China and Russia, whoever is victorious would have at that point more economic prosperity, because it would be forcibly taken from the other. If that is not the case, why is Igboland in such a depressed state despite its talented businessmen and entrepreneurs, and other parts of the country having more economic illiterates enjoy more modern conveniences and utilities. Even the farmers' fields in the North have better utilities services than the homes of Igbos in the East. Is then what you are telling me that Igboland would be in the same condition it is in today even if it were free from being a part of Nigeria? That in my opinion would be nonsense.

My assertion that power belongs to him who holds the gun is true in every sense, but I spoke of intra-national power, not international power. For my statement to be proved in that arena, there would have to be a showdown among all nations of the world to see who can bring to bear the most brute force. Whichever can do so will enjoy the greatest economic fruits by virtue of its ability to take what it wants, as was the case with Rome at the international level, and similar to what the Hausa/Fulani/Yoruba regimes have been doing for the last 34 years within Nigeria. You can enrich yourself to high heaven, but when the bullies come around to rob you, you will once again be poor.

I leave you with this parable...

quote:
When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:
But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armor wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. --Jesus of Nazareth

Some of our partners have always been interested in building cable systems in Aba/Owerri. Will they do it under an economic policy controlled by yoroba/hausa enemy. Absolutely NOT! Just look at their economy management record since 1970!

A Biafran second war of independence with nigeria is inevitable.

Mr. Chiboy you are correct "Some of you just don't get it" when the idea is stupid.

There cannot be a clean break up in Nigeria it may sound simple on paper but it will never be easy on the ground.

Mr. Chiboy its seems you make up some of the people Nigeria does not need, please never come back because you are of no use to Nigeria or the continent if you continue to write the way you do. You remind me of the Japanese soldiers they found still fighting for Japan after the world war ended in 1945 in the Philippines 3 months ago.

The Igbo’s are not even united to run a village meeting without intrigue, corruption, lies and intimidation there are no guarantees they will be able to run a Biafra state.

I do not need to have an Ariara shed to recover money invested in Nigeria; it just shows how myopic you are when it comes to creating or generating wealth in developing countries.

I not even lecturing you decided to read my article. I hope you have solutions for Ndigbo in Abuja, Lagos, and other parts of Nigeria that have invested billions of Naira in properties and investments when Biafra is created.

I hope you start your war with you family and village in the frontline. I could help you with acquiring AK-47’s, RPG's, and those very cheap plastic mines that remain undetected for 50 years. I have contacts in China, and North Korea if you need help.

Don't take out your frustrations of second class citizen in the west by advocating for and endless war in your homeland.

Once in a while there appears on BNW, people who think they have fancy ideas of how to move Igboland forward. They come to "educate" on how other countries achieved one thing of the other. They cite this as an example of how "we are not learning".

Guess what? They are actually exhibiting naivety on the workings and the policies of the Federal government of BiafraNigeria. Policies which are clearly targeted against Nd'Igbo.

Obasanjo is presently banning one item after another, these items often have no local producers so the ban to all intents and purposes are senseless. Do you know it is against the laws to own an Eletricity generator without a permit from NEPA? How does this make sense.

On the contributor who says most of the industries are in Aba town, has he ever been to Aba?

What law is this? what section of the constitution says that you cannot own a generator, Please quote it.

Stop carrying rumours you cannot defend Wacko the Star Paper Plant Aba uses series of generators for its power supply and NEPA as back up.

I have been to Aba Wacko, have you been there or you there last 10 years ago.

I have what you call fancy ideas what do you guys advocate "WAR" the one that was fought before decimated Igbo values, Crime, 419, Drug Pushing, and Faking of Medicine became our accolades.

The remaining intellect ran to Europe, Asia, America, Southern Africa paving the way for illitrates to run the affairs in Igboland.

Now "WAR" seems to be the only solution some of Ndigbo at this forum on how to fix Igboland.

I wish you guys luck and very happy funding of your "NEW BIAFRAN CAMPAIGN".

Several businesses use generators; however imports require prior approval from NEPA.

What do you know? Our "expert" does not seem to know much! You have been to Star Paper, you obviously don't know where Aba ends and Obioma Ngwa begins.

Your "friend" Aluko came here touting some superior ideas which did not stand to scrutiny.

Said Festus Odimegwu, the brilliant, ebullient and energetic NB Plc Managing Director at the signing ceremony in Lagos: "Power supply from Geometric will translate to considerable reduction in energy cost. What is more, our generators will last longer, as they will now be used sparingly. Geometric is guaranteeing us 90 per cent supply efficiency....In other words, we shall be spending less resources on operations and maintenance."

I did not see you correcting him about how Star Paper Mill was not in Aba. This just shows what you guys are made off...bunch of warmongers

I rest my case

The Star Paper Mill at Aba - Owerri Road, Aba, is actually in the village of Umungasi/Umuocham, which is part of the greater community of Abayi-Umuocham. That whole community is within the jurisdiction of Osisioma Ngwa Local Government, and not of Aba North Local Government. Aba North Local Government ends at the intersection of Aba - Owerri Road and Brass Street at Umungasi. The part of Aba -Owerri Road to the North of that junction is in Osisioma Ngwa, even though it is a suburb of the Metropolis of Aba and may be referred to, as such. None of the two local governments of Aba Urban, namely Aba North and Aba South has jurisdiction over the area Star Paper Mill is located.

Hello Duke, nice to hear from you again. Friends should stay in touch you know, but I see you've been a little upset with me. Whatever for I wonder? You've always been one of my favorite handles. I even remember your very first post on this board. I knew then by the five stars you had that you were someone very special. Those were fun times for us Duke, which is why I can't fathom what has happened to our cordial relations, but as your devoted friend I will answer your complaint, and try to help you come to terms with your emotions. After all what are friends for?

You scribbled:

quote:
And you Greg, I hate you. You are too bookish, arrogant, abrasive and knows it all. But sooner or later the story of the big tree and the small axe will be told when the big tree won't stand up right.
Me arrogant? when? Bookish? maybe. Abrasive? I don't know what you mean Duke. Know it all? never. But are these reasons to hate your good friend. Duke you really surprise me. I guess exposing you as a liar and a fraud was a bad move for our friendship. I didn't know you would take it so personal seeing you were so open with your fraudulent five-star rating. Heck, I thought it was all fun and games. And when you left the forum for several weeks I worried cos I thought the worse had happened, that maybe the other frauds you were committing had finally gotten the attention of the authorities, but I see you gave them the slip this time. You know Duke, my great-great uncle used to carve a cross in the heel of his boot because he said the indentation on the ground kept the devil from following him. This is the best advice I can give you for your present problems short of a complete exorcism.

Obodo5000 its either you are the warmonger or you are a big fool for acusing me falsely of correcting you that star paper mill is not in Aba. When and where did I state that. If you cannot write coherently. does it now mean that you also cannot read?
In the first place I was not correcting you but Wacko who mistakenly said SPM is in Obioma Ngwa wheras it is in Osisioma.
Secondly I made sure in my statement to leave no doubt but that Ossisioma is part of Aba metropoliswhen I said
quote:
For the record, Star Paper mill is on Aba Owerri RD in Abayi, Ossisioma Ngwa, ABA
.
I distinctly mentioned in my statement that SPM is in Aba, so what is your problem you trouble seeker?
The statement was only one sentence so I would have expected even you to be able to understand that I was actually confirming that star paper mill is in ABA.
Sorry but you have proved to me by this unwaranted attack on my person that you are not worth taking serious, as you are not able to comprehend even a one liner.
Sorry 4 U.

Ochiwar,

My apologies for grouping you together with Wacko and Greg, I find a lot of their arguments counter productive.

I expressed an opinion and people started insulting me and saying “My ideas are fancy, I was an expert, I was that, I was this. It shows the type of people that dominate this forum.

Only a few seem to be suggesting productive practical ideas in this forum that will bring Ndigbo from the background to the limelight.

Ndigbo are not exposed to information and I mean people in Igboland in the markets, in the villages, in the schools, universities.

Why are there no endowments for Igbo Universities like FUT Owerri, UNN, ABIASU, ESUT, and NNAMDI Azikiwe University by Ndigbo abroad or is that a fancy idea.

Sometimes as my good friend will say "It seems Ndigbo do not really want to change they like the way things are presently"

Our people do not read newspapers or listen to the radio they rely on rumors, what can we do about that?

Information is not even disseminated at village meetings or associations, what can we do to improve information dissemination to Igboland that will empower the people.
