I have followed much of Kalu Orji activities, both as "local" citizen i.e thru the press (granted one can not believe everything the press doles out, and the guy must be given the benefit of doubt), and also on a personal level, sources which I'm not comfortable revealing as it will afffect people who have taken me into trust...

No one cried foul then. Nor did Christians threaten war when Maj Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, a Muslim, appointed Brig. Gen. Tunde Idiagbon, also a Muslim, to be his second-in-command or deputy in 1984.
May be because all these were done and Christian tolerated them, the likes of Datti Ahmed, Sani Yerima, Mustapha Jokolo, Muslim apologist Mohammed Haruna and the Sultan of Sokoto have seen it as an inalienable right for Muslims to predominate in our Military and Security Services Leadership structure. We must maintain that it will be dangerous for the President or the Military High Command to appoint officers to lead their senior colleagues just because they are Muslims. Nigerians have not been blind to some of the sharp practices successive military regimes with Muslim Heads of State have done during recruitments, appointments, and promotion exercises in attempts to Islamize the military. The presidency of Chief Obasanjo has afforded the opportunity for due process in all ramifications of appointments and award of contracts, which is rubbing these people the wrong way. Let us allow things be done properly for the good of the nation.

Demolition of Churches in FCT and Elsewhere Are Christians and indeed all Nigerians aware that in Abuja and its environs alone, right under the nose of President Obasanjo that not less than 700 churches have been demolished since 1999? And we are reliably informed that many more churches have been earmarked for demolition in the foreseeable future. All this has been done under the pretext of following the Abuja master plan. Sorry folks, this is undeniably true and funny at the same time though at the expense of heavy duty folks. Having lived here for many years prior to relocating to nigeria ten years ago, I did not realize how big folks here are until my migration back to the U.S, few visits to some European nations and coupled with my careful observation of nigerians in nigeria convinced me that Americans are sickly obese. Blaming McD etc will not help rather a combination of controlled appetite and healthy eating will garner much mileage. On a serious side and to contribute to the thread, I’ll like our brother markus to if possible ignore the posts that take away his energy to continue his campaign for orji. Go ahead and continue to share all things about your man that maybe could change a few minds and let the other stuffs go. Consider this a free campaign advice from one brother to another at no charge, no how. If we take into consideration of the impossibility of agreeing on all and every thing, we would begin to tone our innuendos towards one another down. Maybe we ought to start paying attention to the areas where we agree than those areas that violently divide us. Let’s relish the area where we share common grounds and maybe tread lightly on the more volatile ones. Every church these days has splitter groups who do not agree on most things yet these are our close to God people of the cloth? When the money raised do not trickle down to them as they wished, they are the ones that are quick to open up a new faction of the church. We’re not always going to agree, brothers and sisters. Heck, families do not always consent so why should a bunch of strangers?

(Guess what, he might get a third term if the political permutations in Abuja to this effect becomes a reality, ha, haa, haaa!) All any responsible Abia citizen has to do is visit Aba or drive around our state. The scenario reminds me of how some Nigerians feel about having an Igbo man as Nigerian President. We all know that many Nigerians will rather that the rot that Nigeria is into currently continue than to see a Mr. President who is Igbo.
Until we work this out through dialogue and frank discussions, the Elephant will, unfortunately, continue to grow bigger. And you know what they say about Elephants, when their graze, not to talk about when they fight, the grass and the earth suffers greatly. That's where we are! No one should be surprised that any objective analysis of governance in Nigeria would score Abia at the very bottom.
